Weekly Recap: February 11th-17th, 2019

Monday:

  • 4 miles
  • 10 minutes strength

Kicked off my week with 4 easy miles! It was cold, rainy, and a little bit icy! I was worried the rain might turn into ice or make the roads super slick, but that never happened. Thank goodness!! I REALLY don’t want to spend as much time on the treadmill this week as I had to last week.

Anyway, Monday evening my husband and I did a quick little arm routine together in our living room with some dumbbells. It might have been quick, but it was pretty hard! Luke wants to get a gym membership next month and hopefully in the evenings we’ll end up going! Hahaha he wants to strength train and so do I, but depending on how I feel I might also use it as an excuse to get in a couple more miles every day! πŸ˜‚ But we shall see.

Tuesday:

  • 3 miles
  • 20 minutes of yoga
  • 10 minutes of strength training

It was absolutely beautiful outside on Tuesday! Cold, sunny, and the ice on the roads was mostly gone! I loved it! 😊

After my run I put in some time on my yoga mat and then that evening Luke and I did our little arm routine again. It was even harder on Tuesday than it was on Monday. πŸ˜‚

Wednesday:

  • 2 miles

I wasn’t feeling it on Tuesday. Physically or mentally. I had a sneaking suspicion that was gonna happen though. The night before my throat was feeling just a little bit scratchy and I’ve come to learn that means that my body is feeling stressed and I need to back off a little bit. So I decided to just go out and see what I could do. After about 1 very slow mile I was like β€œlol nope!”. So I turned around and slogged another mile home. Today was still definitely a success though! I ran and I did what I needed to do. πŸ™‚

Listening to your body is key!! Sure your training plan might say you need to do a 5 miler with strides today. But if your body is telling you that it needs a little break then give it one. That, my friends, is how you stay healthy and injury free. It’s also a lesson that I really took to heart last year and I ended up completing a whole half marathon training cycle without getting sick or injured. That’s something that I had honestly never done before! But it’s definitely something that I’d like to keep doing. πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ»

Thursday:

  • 8 miles

It was sunny and in the 50’s on Thursday morning. We we’re also under a winter weather advisory, which was kinda weird. πŸ˜‚

So I ended up being super happy that I backed off and took it easy the day before. Listening to your body is important and I ended up feeling really good on Thursday. So good in fact that about 2.5 miles into what was originally going to be a 3-4 mile run I decided I was going to do my long run. I figured I might as well get it out of the way while I felt good and the weather was nice!! We had more ice and snow in the forecast for Friday and Saturday and I really didn’t want to end up doing my long run on the treadmill.

So I didn’t. I got it in on the road and felt fantastic doing it!! Honestly this was the best long run I’ve done in a long time! It was pretty awesome! Hahaha and fueled by Honey Stinger and Body Armor because I wasn’t exactly prepared going into it. πŸ˜‚

Friday:

  • Rest day

Kinda hahaha. Luke and I were very busy on Friday! We had to grocery shop, run errands, get chicken feed and straw, all in the middle of a snow storm. Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive. πŸ˜‚

We also ended up taking the dogs to the dog park. Since it was crazy cold and snowing no one was there. It was fantastic! The dogs got to run around and play in the snow to their heart’s content. This was actually the first time Whiskey had been the the dog park. She did really well!! 😊

Saturday:

  • 3 snowy, slushy miles

Yeah, I’m super glad that I did my long run on Thursday! It was kind sunny out on Saturday but the roads were still covered in snow and slush. Grant it I do love running in that kinda stuff, but it super hard! So I think it’s better suited for shorter runs! πŸ˜‚

Sunday:

  • Rest day
  • 45 minutes of restorative yoga

A real rest day this time!! Spent my day on the couch relaxing and resting. 😊 It was nice. Although if my legs weren’t so tired from running on snow yesterday I probably would have put in a few more easy miles. I’m getting a root canal done tomorrow so I definitely won’t be doing any running after that. I don’t know if any of you remember the whole tooth saga from last year, but my teeth are pretty shitty and my dentist has a while treatment plan written out. But it’s gonna take several years to get everything taken care of because dental work is expensive and we only have so much insurance. But oh well. At least I’m getting another one taken care of tomorrow! 😊

Total Weekly Mileage: 20.16

Woohoo! Another pretty good week of running for me! I felt AMAZING on my long run, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign for things to come for my upcoming races. I’ve got a 10k in Colorado in April and a 5k here in Kansas in May! I’m pretty stoked!!

Weekly Recap: February 4th-10th

Not gonna lie, this week was kind of exhausting! But like, exhausting in the best possible way!!! I’m finally feeling like I’m making some progress and getting more fit!! I’d totally be lying if I said I’ve been being patient about the whole process and I may or may not have spent some time staring at my training log wanting to cry out of frustration, but I’ve kept grinding on and putting in the work. Even when it was hard, I felt ridiculously slow, or like I was getting absolutely nowhere.

But I’m super duper excited to report that all of that work is paying of and I definitely felt it this week! And maybe I ended up going a little too hard two days in a row which lead me to skip the big strength workout I’ve been doing on Thursday’s. πŸ˜‚ That’s ok though. I’m still super happy with what I’ve accomplished this week and I’m so stoked about how strong I’ve felt!! πŸ’ͺ🏻That strength is definitely going to come in handy for the trail 10k my dad and I are doing in Colorado in April!

Monday:

  • 2 miles

I kinda really didn’t want to run on Monday. I just wasn’t feeling it…But I went out and did a couple of miles anyway! Hahaha they actually ended up being kinda speedy too, because I really just wanted to get this run over with. πŸ˜‚

Tuesday:

  • 3 miles, hill repeats
  • 25 minutes of yoga

Hit the treadmill for this one! There are a few hills nearby that I can do a pretty decent hill workout on, but honestly it’s just a lot easier to get one done on the treadmill. This ended up being a FANTASTIC workout!! It was hard, but I felt strong! πŸ’ͺ🏻 I’m definitely seeing some improvements in my running already and I’m pretty freaking stoked! 😊

Wednesday:

  • 4 treadmill miles

Hahahaha ok, so I actually started out this run outside! But it had been kinda rainy, icy, and misty since Tuesday and the roads were SUPER slick. Even after being salted. I made it a whopping .3 miles before I had to turn around and try to walk home without dying. πŸ˜‚

After my failed attempt at running outside I changed and then hopped on the treadmill for 4 more miles. 4 pretty solid possibly a little too fast miles? I mean, I felt really good doing them, it’s just that I probably shouldn’t have gone so hard at it the day after that hill workout. Oops.

Anyway, technically I guess I really ran 4.3 miles on Wednesday, if you count the slipping/sliding I did outside as actual running. Yeah, I’m gonna count it. πŸ˜‰

Thursday:

  • 25 minutes of yoga

Yeah, I definitely went too hard on Wednesday. I woke up feeling exhausted on Thursday and I just knew I needed to take it easy. Luckily at this point Thursday is not a running day for me so I didn’t miss out on any miles, but I didn’t end up doing the strength workout that I’ve been doing. Kinda bummed that I missed out on that since I know that’s been a big part of the improvement that I’m feeling this week, but I also knew that I really just needed a day off from really hard stuff. I stuck to some mostly easy yoga, but there was a little bit of ab work and a few other strengthening poses thrown in there. 😊

Friday:

  • 3 treadmill miles

So Thursday night well into Thursday morning we had a crazy ice storm! Like, there was rain, sleet, a little bit of snow, and lots of thunder and lightning! It was nuts! So obviously the roads were pretty shitty on Friday. So I had to do my run on the treadmill. Not a fan, but at least I got it done!

Also, can we just talk about how crazy the weather has been this winter?!?

Saturday:

  • 8 miles

Cold and still kinda icy out on Saturday, but I still got my long run done! It was a slow one. I had to pick my way around ice and get hope out of the way of cars also trying to navigate the ice. I even had to stop a couple of times for cars. But I made it through without any incidents or close calls, so I’ll take it! πŸ˜„

Sunday:

  • Rest day

Oh man I’ve been looking forward to this rest day!! I’ve had a fantastic week and I’m feeling like I’ve made some good progress with my running, but oh boy I needed a day off. πŸ˜‚

I spent most of my day glued to my couch, binge watching Law and Order: SVU. Hahaha is forgotten how good the older episodes were and got sucked in pretty quickly. That and a couple of fetch breaks. It was a good day. 😊

Total Weekly Mileage: 20.33

I am so proud of what I’ve accomplished this week! Not only did I hit my mileage goal for the week, but I got in some pretty fantastic workouts! It was a good week and I’m hoping next week will go just as well!

I’m about 2 months I’ll be traveling to Colorado to do a trail 10k with my dad. The elevation change from going from Kansas to near the mountains in Colorado gets me every time. This 10k is going to be hard, but I also think I’m gonna be ready for it!! Then in May my dad is coming here to run a 5k with me! We’re gonna have a couple of fun times together. 😁

Weekly Recap: January 28th – February 3rd, 2019

Soooooo this was a really weird week. One day it was super duper cold and the next it was in the mid 50’s. The high for today (Sunday) is 61 degrees, and then on Monday it’s supposed to drop back down into the 30’s and with a chance of snow. Yeah, the entire Midwest is just experiencing some crazy weather right now.

Punxsutawney Phil says we’re going to have an early spring and he’s kinda right. We’ve had spring and winter all within the span of one week! Weird stuff, man. πŸ˜‰

Monday:

  • 3 treadmill miles

Last Sunday I though that I might be getting sick, but after a good night’s sleep I woke up with a runny nose but that was it. Other than that I felt fine! So yet again I’ve avoided being taken down by the cold and flu season! πŸ˜‚

Anyway, on Monday we were experiencing wind gusts of up to 50 mph. Wind is probably my least favorite weather condition to contend with and I didn’t feel like putting up with it on Monday, so I took my interval workout to the treadmill instead.

Tuesday:

  • 4 miles

Tuesday was a gorgeous and cold day out! So obviously I couldn’t miss out on running outside! It was still a little bit windy but definitely not as bad as Monday. Legs felt a little tired, but other than that this run was great! 😊

Wednesday:

  • 45 minutes of strength training

More below 0 temps on Wednesday. So I decided to switch around a running day with my strength focused day in hopes to avoid another run on the treadmill. That didn’t end up happening, but anyway, this was a really good workout. 😁

Thursday:

  • 3 treadmill miles
  • 35 minutes of stretching/foam rolling

It was a little bit warmer on Thursday. It felt like -1 when I wanted to go out and run. πŸ˜‚ But the night before I washed all of my cold weather running gear without really thinking about it so it was still wet on Thursday morning (I don’t run my running gear through the dryer. It lasts longer that way). So that meant another treadmill run for me. It wasn’t a bad run or anything. I would have just rather been outside. πŸ˜‰

I definitely rocked out to the PokΓ©mon theme song during this run. πŸ˜‚

Friday:

  • 2 miles

Luke and I were super duper busy on Friday! We had to go grocery shopping, run errands, pick up birthday gifts for our niece and nephew (their birthdays are like a week a part), we went to the mall to get treats for ourselves, and Lily had yo go to the vet. We were gone from about 8:30 am until around 4 pm with only a quick stop at home to drop off and put away our groceries.

I still managed to squeeze in a quick little 2 mile run. It was too nice outside not too!! 😁

I don’t have a photo from this run, so here’s a photo of the belly button ring I got at Hot Topic on Friday instead. 😁

Saturday:

  • 8 miles

Another relatively nice day out! It was foggy and a little bit drizzly out which of course I love!

But this run was one long mental battle from the very start. My head just wasn’t in the game on Saturday. I had to mentally break this run up into little chunks just to get through it all. But mission accomplished! I had set out to do 8 miles and that’s exactly what I did! 😁

Sunday

  • rest day

Ah, a very well deserved rest day!! 😊 Spent most of my day just hanging out at home and reading.

This evening Luke and I are going to my Brother-in-law’s girlfriend’s apartment to watch the Super Bowl and to celebrate her kid’s birthdays. So it should be an interesting night.

Total Weekly Mileage: 20

Now that’s more like it!! I finally hit a weekly mileage that I’m super happy with! Now the plan is to stick around 20 miles for the next several weeks and then build up a little bit more, rinse, and repeat!

Oh man, I sure think this is gonna be a really good year of running for me! Well, I sure hope so anyway! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Weekly Recap: January 21st-27th, 2019

I’ve felt kinda tired and off this week. By Sunday I was definitely feeling run down and like I was right about to come down with a cold or something. Damn. Like and I had been doing incredibly well at not getting sick this cold a flu season. But I guess it was inevitable that I’d end up getting sick eventually. My immune system isn’t the greatest…

Monday:

  • 4 miles

Monday was a cold one!! Felt like 8 degrees out and was cloudy and windy. I felt kinda like Randy from A Christmas Story in all of my various layers, but at least I was relatively comfortable during my run. πŸ˜‚

Tuesday:

  • 3 miles

I was feeling very, very meh on Tuesday. I didn’t exactly want to run but I felt pretty decent once I got out there.

Anyway, it was drizzly and cold. Warmer than the day before though. Hahaha we’ve still got some big piles of snow, slush, ice, and mud everywhere. So it’s been an interesting couple of days. πŸ˜‚

Wednesday:

  • 4 treadmill miles

Woke up to an inch or so of new snow!! I was super duper excited about getting another snowy run in, but my husband texted me and told me the roads were super slippery. And they were…it had rained before it snowed so there was just a nice little layer of ice underneath it all. So I took to the treadmill for 4 miles on Wednesday.

It was no fun… every once in a in a while I can get a decent treadmill run in, but most of the time treadmill running just saps all of the life out of me. But about an hour after I had finished and was laying around feeling sorry for myself and just messing around on my phone I got some really exciting news!!! I can’t tell you what yet, but I am so freaking stoked!!!!! It made my day so much better after that sad treadmill run. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜„

Thursday:

  • 45 minutes strength training
  • 25 minutes yoga

Woop woop! Got a decent strength workout done on Thursday!! Then a nice yoga practice done in the afternoon, including a few headstands. I used to practice my headstands a lot and at one point I was really good at them! But I kinda fell off for a while. But I was super stoked to find out that I’m still capable of holding one for a while! I’m currently using the wall as a safety net because I do kinda fall backwards sometimes, but still, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be! 😁

Also, my watch says my strength session was 55 minutes long because that’s including the warm up and cool down. I just can’t be bothered to keep track of that and sets and whatnot. πŸ˜‰

Friday:

  • 35 minutes on the stationary bike

I was pretty sore on Friday! Tired too. Decided to spend some time on my stationary bike to help loosen up my legs a little bit. Mission accomplished! πŸ˜„

Saturday:

  • 7 miles

It was another cold day on Saturday! Not as cold as Monday was, but still pretty chilly! I got 7 miles in for my “long run” this week. Hahaha for me personally, that’s not really a long run. Especially since I’ve been doing “medium long” runs at 5 miles. So really I should probably be doing at least 10 for my actual long run. But oh well, still happy with my 7. πŸ˜‰

I felt pretty good for the most part! All in all it was pretty decent run.

Sunday:

  • 30 minutes of yoga

I actually woke up feeling ok today, but as the day went on I started feeling a little worse. I’m tired, a little bit achy (but not from my run yesterday), and my throat has been a bit scratchy. I’ve been hoping that I’d make it through cold and flu season unscathed, but it’s looking like that’s not gonna happen.

I spent my day resting, drinking tea, and I did a little bit of restorative yoga with a couple of headstands thrown in just for fun! πŸ˜‰πŸ™ƒ I’m hoping a little bit of rest will help keep this from turning into a full blown thing, but we shall see.

Total Weekly Mileage: 18.10

I’m moving that weekly mileage up at a snail’s pace. But hey, a snail’s pace sure beats not moving forward at all! Or even worse, going backwards! So I’ll gladly take it!!

Slightly unrelated, but does anyone else feel like the month of January is going by at a snail’s pace as well? Like, I swear it’s been at least 3 months since Christmas, but nope, it’s been about 1. What the heck is up with that?!?

Weekly Recap: January 14th-20th, 2019

Monday:

  • 2 easy miles
  • 30 minutes stretching/foam rolling

I’m used to going into Monday’s feeling rested, refreshed, and ready to go! That wasn’t the case this week though! After shoveling a bunch of snow and cleaning up huge tree limbs on Sunday I was feeling sore and tired! 😴 Still got out and did a couple of easy miles though. Stretching and foam rolling sure felt nice after all of that work I did on Sunday!

Oh and after my run I built a short little snowman, because why not?!? β›„οΈβ„οΈπŸ˜Š

Tuesday:

  • 3 miles on the treadmill
  • 20 minutes of Pilates
  • 30 minutes on the stationary bike

HILLS!!!!!! Oh man, I haven’t done a good hill workout in a while and I sure didn’t make this one easy on myself. It was hard. I felt like I was dying. My elbows were dripping sweat by the time I was done. πŸ˜‚ I got through it though! And it sure made running on the treadmill a bit more interesting.

Later in the afternoon I got a quick Pilates session on and then that night I spent some time on the stationary bike. Good times! 😁

Wednesday:

  • 5 miles

Nothing really eventful about this run. It was just 5 nice and easy miles on a cold day. 😊

Thursday:

  • 30 minutes strength workout

I said I’m trying to dedicate myself more to strength training and I’m sticking with that! Pilates is good, but this strength training session was better! Haha I’m currently using a Jillian Michaels at home workout DVD for my big strength training session of the week. Her workouts are no joke! I’m hoping that sticking with a good stench routine will not only make me a better runner, but help me survive the trail 10k in Colorado that I’m doing with my dad in April. πŸ˜‚

Unrelated but I didn’t have any other photo to share from Thursday except for this one! My husband is the best! He bought me this shirt and it makes me so ridiculously happy! Raise your hand if you get it! πŸ€šπŸ»πŸ˜‰

Friday:

  • 2 miles

Holy cow Friday was busy!! Luke and I went grocery shopping (which involves multiple stores for us), went to Home Depot, and then spend a good majority of the rest of our afternoon installing a new faucet for our kitchen sink and replacing our old garbage disposal. It was broken so nasty water kept backing up into the sink… We’ve tried fixing it before but we had finally decided that we just needed a new one. πŸ˜‚ After that fun adventure a technician came to our house to fix our WiFi. This was around 5:30 pm or so. Our internet would just randomly go out for no reason. It turns out that some squirrels had chewed some wire up on the pole. So he fixed that and replaced some wires or something in the house as well just to be on the safe side. But problem solved!

Anyway, while he was here I went out and got a quick little 2 mile run in. I wasn’t exactly planning on this, but it kinda turned into almost a tempo run. Hahaha I felt really good! I wish I wold have had time to stay out and do a little more, but I did not. Oh well, at least it was fun! 😁

Saturday:

  • 5 miles

I didn’t have time to run more the day before because rain, ice, and snow was on the way. And it did indeed come. Not much though, but enough to make the roads slick. I didn’t feel like dealing with that so I took to the treadmill on Saturday. It wasn’t fun, but I got it done! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜Š

Sunday:

  • Rest Day

Letting all of my training this week seep in!! Spent most of my day hanging out on the couch! Resting, relaxing, and gearing up for next week!

It can be hard to take days completely off. There were a few times today where I thought to myself that I should do something. But the reality is that I DID do something. I gave my body a chance to rest and repair itself. Which is a crucial and critical part of training! Obviously you shouldn’t be a couch potato all of the time, but every once in a while it’s the best possible thing you can do for yourself! Take a day complete off every once in a while, my friends. Your body will thank you!

Total Weekly Mileage: 17.02

Not where I want to be, but I did put in some hard work this week. I got back into my regular routine, did a hard hill workout, what was basically a tempo run, toughed it out on the treadmill twice this week, and took a whole day off of everything. Also stuck with my strength training plan! I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m working towards it! 😊

Weekly Recap: January 7th-13th, 2019

With 2 races on my schedule for this spring it’s time to get to work!! If I’m gonna survive the trail 10k I’m doing with my dad in Colorado this April I figure I need to get stronger. Actually, I really just need to get stronger in general. πŸ˜‚

So that’s kinda what I want to focus on right now. Although I missed my big strength day this week. Oops. But I wasn’t feeling well on Thursday. Plus earlier in the week I had a little strain or something in my right quad. Luckily after taking it easy for a few days it’s gone away, so hopefully that’s the end of that! But other than that it’s been a pretty good week!!

Monday:

  • 2 miles
  • 30 minutes of yoga

The plan for Monday was a hard, interval workout. Unfortunately that’s not what happened. During my one mile warm up I noticed that my right quad wasn’t feeling right. I was hoping it would work itself out during my warm up but it never did. So I ran another easy mile home and called it a day. That afternoon I spent some time on my yoga mat trying to stretch it out a little bit but it still just wasn’t feeling great.

Tuesday:

  • 30 minutes of yoga
  • 20 minutes of Pilates

My quad still wasn’t feeling great on Tuesday. In fact, it was even more sore! So I decided not to run. I did clean out the chicken coop though. πŸ˜‰ Also did some more yoga, done Pilates for strength work, and really got into my quad with my foam roller that night. That REALLY seemed to help!

Wednesday:

  • 4 easy miles

My quad was still a bit sore, but feeling much better by Wednesday! Got in 4 relatively easy miles that morning. The first two miles were nice, slow, and easy. Just to see how my leg felt. It seemed fine so I finished the last two a little bit faster. Nothing too crazy or hard or anything. I felt like I was still going easy, but I also felt like I finished strong. That’s actually been my mantra lately. Whenever I find myself in a tough spot I just repeat the word “strong” to myself. It’s really been resonating with me lately. 😊

Thursday:

  • Rest Day

Thursday was supposed to be my cross training day dedicated to a longer strength work out, but my stomach was not happy and I just wasn’t feeling well. So it kinda turned into a rest day. I’m not really happy about that because I really want to dedicate myself to doing this kinda thing on Thursdays, but shit happens I guess. Obviously taking a rest Day was a good idea because I felt a lot better on Friday. πŸ˜„

Friday:

  • 3 miles

Felt really good going into Friday! My quad was feeling much better as was my stomach! Plus it was cold and rainy out! My favorite! πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸŒ§ The rain was supposed to turn into a big snow storm and while I didn’t deal with anything like that during my run I did get hit with a tiny bit of sleet and saw a few snowflakes. Then much later that afternoon, the rain finally started turning into snow! β„οΈβ˜ƒοΈ

Saturday:

  • 4 miles in a snow storm!

Oh man, Saturday was crazy! We had a snow storm come through that started Friday afternoon and didn’t let up until Saturday afternoon. I talked all about that here. πŸ˜‰ Anyway, I ran in a blizzard in November so of course I had to run in this snow storm as well!

The original plan for Saturday was 6 miles but that became negotiable once it started snowing on Friday. Running in the snow is fun but it’s also really hard! I like to think these snowy miles were the equivalent of 6 miles on a normal day. πŸ˜‰

Sunday:

    Snow storm clean up

Sundays are usually my rest days but I didn’t really rest at all today. πŸ˜‚ I spent a good majority of my morning shoveling snow out of the chicken coop and dragging the big ass tree limbs that fell in our backyard to the wood pile. Once it started getting close to lunch time I was hungry and needed a break so I went inside, showered because I was covered in chicken poop, ate lunch, and then did stuff around the house while my hair dried. Then I went back out in the afternoon to take care of the tree branches in the front yard. I wasn’t sure if I was actually going to be able up get them all because some of them were really big and heavy! I did it though!! 😊

Shoveling snow and moving those tree branches was HARD WORK! But I like to think that made up for the fact that I skipped my strength workout on Thursday. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰

This photo doesn’t even do it justice! There were even more branches than this and the biggest one isn’t even pictured! But they’re all in our wood pile now. 😁

Honestly I’m pretty stoked about how this week went! In a perfect world I would have gotten more miles in, but a sore quad (which is feeling 100% better now!) and a snow storm (slowed me down but didn’t stop me!) didn’t exactly help. πŸ˜‚ Still though, it was a good week! I’m very happy to be back into my normal routine after the holidays. Now that I’m feeling back on track, it’s only up from here! 😊

Weekly Recap: December 31st – January 6th, 2018-2019

Hello 2019! I’ve sure got some big goals for you!! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰

I haven’t really gotten right down to work this week though. πŸ˜‚ Luke and I went back to Illinois for New Year’s Eve, and then he took the rest of the week off from work. So I was still caught in a bit of that weird holiday limbo this week. Although it has been a lot better than last week and I do feel like I’ve accomplished something. 😁

Monday:

New Years Eve

On Sunday night Luke and I drove back to Illinois so we could hang out at his dad’s house for New Year’s Eve, and that we did! We spent Sunday night eating too much, staying up too late, and playing board games. Same for New Year’s Eve, except we stayed up even later (we finally went to bed at 3 am πŸ˜‚), lived solely on several different cheese dips, chips, little smokies, and alcohol. Whew, it was a crazy night, but a good one!

The dogs all passed out around 9:30 pm though. πŸ˜‚

Unfortunately we didn’t get to see anyone on my side of the family but my grandma and Uncle. But my siblings and dad are in Colorado and my mom is still in Illinois, but …well that situation is just really weird right now.

My dad and I are always texting back and forth though. I don’t remember exactly when, but at some point over the weekend he decided to do the Running With The Cows 5k with me this year (I’m not even sure if I mentioned that I’ve signed up for that here or not πŸ˜‚), so he signed up for that. Then he found some big trail running festival thing in Colorado that he wanted to go to, so he signed us both up for the 10k that’s being held that weekend. That event is in April and is about 5 hours away from where he lives, so we’re gonna drive there and then camp there all weekend. That should be fun!! 😊

So I’m pretty stoked that I’ve already got two races lined up for 2019, but now I really need to get my ass in gear and start training for them. πŸ˜‚

Tuesday:

We hung out at Luke’s dad’s for a while on Tuesday, but that afternoon we went and visited his grandma for a little bit and then drove home that evening. It’s nice to go visit family, but holy cow is it exhausting!! We’re pretty much done with that for a while now. πŸ˜‰

Wednesday:

  • 2.5 miles

After our drive back from Illinois Tuesday evening, we spent Wednesday morning recuperating from New Year’s Eve and all of the driving. πŸ˜‚ It was ridiculously nice to sleep in our own bed that night.

In the afternoon I went out and ran a couple of miles. I probably could have and should have done more, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I was still feeling kinda bleh from all of the junk food, alcohol, and lack of sleep. But at least I got out and ran! 😊

Anyway, I found $5 on my first run in 2019! I feel like that’s a good sign for this year! At least I sure hope so!

Thursday:

  • 4 miles

Was feeling a lot better on Thursday! My legs were kinda dead though. Probably from spending so much time in the truck earlier this week. Still pretty happy with the 4 miles I got done though. Plus it was nice and cold which is nice. β„οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜Š

Friday:

  • Rest Day

Friday was the last day of Luke’s little vacation, so we had ourselves a little party for just the two of us. πŸ˜‰ Basically all we did on Friday was farm virtually (Luke playing Stardew Valley on his Switch and me playing Story Of Seasons: Trio Of Towns on my 3DS) while eating a ridiculous amount of snacks. I also baked cookies, so yeah, more snacks. πŸ˜‚ It was a good time though! 😁

Bubbles snuggled with me throughout most of it, but here she is on our pile of couch blankets. 😹

Saturday:

  • 5 miles
  • 30 minutes of Pilates

Whew! Back to reality!

Apparently chips, queso dip, and chocolate chip cookie are fantastic running fuel because this run was pretty great!! Hahaha I thought it was gonna be horrible after all of those snacks on Friday. πŸ˜‚ My legs were still feeling kinda heavy, but other than that I felt pretty good! Even managed a few speedy intervals in the middle of this run that felt really good. Hahaha but those probably felt good because I also ate some a Honey Stinger chews in the middle of this run. πŸ˜‚ I felt like I needed it though. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, after my run I cleaned out the chicken coop and collected two eggs for the day, cleaned around the house, showered, attempted and failed to nap (although just laying in bed for 30 minutes was nice), finished cleaning the house, did a piss ton of laundry, and then finally did some Pilates. It was a very productive day. 😁

Sunday:

  • Rest Day

Yeah, yeah. ANOTHER rest day. But I’m trying to get back into the regular rhythm and flow of a usual week in my life, and Sundays are always my day off, so it made sense.

Anyway, spent my Sunday off dyeing my hair. Because my Sundays tend to be dedicated to hair upkeep nowadays, between dyeing it and using hair masks on it. πŸ˜‚ But it’s getting longer and it does require more work when it’s long. Plus this purple I’ve been using fades out super fast and I hate it. I need to get some more Manic Panic. That seems to work a lot better for me. πŸ˜πŸ’œ

Alrighty! It’s been a crazy week! It was fun, but I’m ready to get back into a regular routine and to start training for some upcoming races this spring (be in the lookout for a post about that later in the week! πŸ˜‰).
