Weekly Recap: September 16th-22nd, 2019

Monday:

  • 3 easy miles

Found a turtle friend (who was promptly moved off of the street), got chased by a big, mean, yellow lab that was running loose (it was a short chase, he got distracted by a car and started chasing that), and then talked to a guy who was looking for his dog who took off after the yellow lab. It was a very eventful 3 miles. πŸ˜‚

But I was glad to get it in! Last week I was sick and ran a grand total of 2 miles. Not good…and honestly I feel like this whole training cycle has been absolute shit and I’m kinda freaking out because I’m not sure I’m going to get two half marathons done in two days this November. I feel like I just keep getting slower. I haven’t had a good long run in forever and most of my long runs haven’t even been long lately. Oh man I just feel like I’m so fucked right now.

Tuesday:

  • 1.5 miles on the treadmill
  • 20 minutes of hip/glute work

This didn’t help with my confidence. Which is a bummer because it’s already crazy low. The plan for Tuesday was a long interval workout. I made it through the warm up and one out of 3 intervals. Gross.

Honestly I’m not sure if this was a mental thing or a physical thing. Probably a little bit of both. Either way, I just didn’t have it in me that day.

My little strength session turned out to be really good though, so at least that’s something! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Wednesday:

  • 3 easy miles
  • 20 minutes of arm/shoulder work

I wanted to do 5 but I only made it through 3…If you couldn’t tell, I’m just having a really rough go at things right now. Hopefully they’ll get better soon, but not gonna lie, I’m not all that optimistic about it right now.

Thursday:

  • Rest day

Was supposed to cross train, but I wasn’t feeling it. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Friday:

  • Rest day

Now this was an actual scheduled rest day! πŸ˜‚

I started making some bone broth on Thursday and finished it on Friday (it’s got to cook for 24 hours for maximum nutrient absorption). Honestly I’d rather make bone broth myself versus buying it from a store. It’s so much more rich and flavorful when you make it yourself. I also made a piss ton of chocolate chip cookies. I’ve been on a bit of a baking spree lately and I’m my opinion, nothing is better than made from scratch chocolate chip cookies!

All of this baking hasn’t been good for my nutrition game though. Especially since o could really stand to lose some weight. But baked goods are yummy. πŸ˜‹πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

Saturday:

  • 10 miles

I redeemed myself this week with this run! At least that’s what it felt like. In all honesty it’s been a while since I’ve done a double digit run (yikes!) but this one went surprisingly well. Especially considering it was about 73 degrees and 97% humidity when I started this run. I got through it though! So obviously the lesson here is fuel your long runs with a ridiculous amount of cookies. πŸͺπŸ˜‰

Also, it’s starting to look like fall in Kansas, but it sure doesn’t feel like fall…

Sunday:

  • 3 easy miles

It was POURING down rain when I started out today! So I got soaking wet. That didn’t last very long though. The rain stopped and the wind picked up a little bit so I got a little blow dried. That was a lot less fun that the rainy part. πŸ˜‚ All in all it was a pretty good run though! My legs felt surprisingly good especially considering that I did my first double digit run in FOREVER yesterday. So I’ll take it!

Total Weekly Mileage: 20.51

This isn’t were I wanted to be at this point of half marathon training. I wanted to be getting closer to 30 miles by now. I’m 7 weeks out from race week so I still have some time left to put in some actual work though. Definitely not as much as I’d have liked, but here we are. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I’ve had quite a lot going on lately. Being sick, looking for a job (which is hopefully about to happen. Just not at a particularly desirable place.), and honestly just not being into running for the past couple of months if I’m being honest. I spent a lot of time not wanting to do it, hating the process, hating that I always seem so ridiculously slow no matter what I do, and just not wanting to do it anymore. I’ve finally worked my way out of that headspace though and I’m ready to go, get shit done, and be in love with the process again.

I’ve got 7 weeks until I run two half marathons in two days with my dad. And I’m ready to work! Although at this point I’m coming to terms with the fact that they are both going to be incredibly slow half marathons. My dad has a lot of stuff going on in his world so he hasn’t been training at all. I’m about to start working at a plant that produces cat litter and I’m going to be on my feet for 12 hours a day 3, sometimes 4 days a week. That’s definitely going to affect my running. At least at first. That’s ok though. I’m ready to start embracing some chance and working my running around it. Because I’ve fallen back in love with running again. And I’m going to make training happen however I can. Because while my next two races will be slow ones, there are always other races in the horizon! (I don’t even want to think about how things are going to go when I inevitably have to work overnights. But I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it, I suppose).

Happy last day of summer! Fall is almost here!! Now if only the weather would get with the picture! πŸ‚πŸ

Weekly Recap: September 2nd-8th, 2019

Have you ever felt like a week just kinda…slipped through your fingers? That’s how I feel about this week.

Like, one second it was Monday and then all of a sudden it was Friday and I had no idea where all of that time had gone. πŸ˜‚ Of course I DO know where that time went! It just all felt like a blur!!

I guess that probably had something to do with the long weekend. Tuesday felt like Monday and everything just got thrown off from there. So yeah, this week wasn’t a really good one. Things just kinda got away from me. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Monday:

  • 9 holes of golf
  • 20 minutes on the stationary bike
  • 7 minutes of core work

Happy Labor Day!!!

How did you celebrate?? (I’m not even going to get into the irony that is Labor Day. We’re supposed to be celebrating laborers and yet they’re the one’s who usually have to work and office workers are the one’s who get the day off? πŸ€”)

Anyway, Luke and I celebrated by hitting the golf course and playing 9 holes. I’m still really bad at pretty much everything aside from putting. I am really really good at putting. So I guess maybe I should stick to mini golf. πŸ˜‚

  • Tuesday:
    • Tempo run on the treadmill, 3 miles
      5 minutes of arm work

Ok, so this was actually something I did get right this week!

Tempo runs are probably my least favorite workout to do. Like ever. But I think this one went really well!! I wouldn’t say I crushed it, but it was a decently solid workout.

Followed that with a tiny bit of arm work. Hahaha something is better than nothing, right?! πŸ˜‰

    Wednesday:

    • Rest day

Now here’s where things really start to get wonky. The plan was to switch Thursday’s cross training with Wednesday’s run. Obviously that didn’t happen.

But I did take Dean for a nice walk Wednesday evening. I actually took a dog for a walk every evening this week (this photo is actually from Tuesday nights walk, but whatevs. πŸ˜‚). That’s been really nice. Dusk is probably my favorite time of day, and while it’s still pretty warm here I’ve really been enjoying my evening walks.πŸŒ™

    Thursday:

    • 15 minutes stationary bike
    • 10 minutes Pilates

My job interview with Garmin was Thursday morning!! How weird do I look without my nose ring in???πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

I think I look weird, anyway. It’s been pierced since I was 19 (so 8 years) and I rarely ever take it out. But I wanted to make a good first impression for this interview so it had to go. Along with my purple hair. I’m not sure if I’ve actually mentioned that here, but I dyed my hair black last weekend with this interview in mind. I wanted to look a little less like a rebellious teenager. I’m not sure if I managed that, but I tried!

Anyway, I think the interview went well! I should hear back from Garmin at some point next week so fingers crossed that they decide to move forward in their interview process with me! 🀞🏻

Now my interview was at 8:30 in the morning. Which is usually when I do my running. But one thing just kinda happened after another on Thursday and by the time I realized that I never ran it was like 8:30 pm and I didn’t feel like doing it. So I didn’t… I did hit up the stationary bike and do a little bit of Pilates though, so again, something is better than nothing!

But this is why I prefer to run in the mornings. Then it’s out of the way and I don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day. πŸ˜‚

But if I do get this job with Garmin I’m either going to have to wake up at like 4:30 am to get my runs done, run on my lunch break (which apparently a lot of people do. No surprise there. This is Garmin we’re talking about. πŸ˜‰), or run in the evening. But I guess I’ll figure that out as needed!

    Friday:

    • 3 miles

This run was kinda meh. My legs have just been tired and heavy. Which is weird considering how little running I’ve done this week. I was hoping that a nice and easy 3 miles would help, but it didn’t end up helping at all. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Oh well. I was still glad to get this run done. πŸ˜„

    Saturday:

    • 4.47 miles
    • 30 minutes of yoga and foam rolling

Ew yeah no, this did not go well. My quads were REALLY hurting on Saturday. Gross.

My husband got sick with a bad cold and I’m really hoping I don’t end up catching it too, but I’m also kinda wondering if that’s why I felt so tired and sore on Saturday. Gross.

    Sunday:

    • rest day

Well so far I’m not feeling terrible, but I’m still not feeling great either. Hopefully after a rest day I’ll be fine but my throat is starting to feel a little scratchy so I don’t know. Usually if my husband gets sick I end up catching it not long after… I’m really hoping I don’t end up with this bug though. I’ve already missed out on enough running, I don’t need to miss anymore.

But yeah. This week, it just got away from me. It happens though. Hopefully next week will be better!

    Happy Sunday!

    ~Ashley

    Weekly Recap: August 19th-25th, 2019

This week was a tough one! I ended up doing a lot less than I would have liked, but apparently extra rest is what I needed! So that’s what happened!

    Monday:

    • Rest day

    Hell. Yes!!

This was one well earned rest day! I killed it last week and was definitely feeling it by Monday! I even ran on Sunday which is something I don’t usually do. Hence the rest day on Monday. Something I also don’t usually do. πŸ˜‰

But yeah, it was great to get to sleep in and not have to even think about heading out for a run or doing a workout. Instead I watched Kiki’s delivery service, did some light housework, and enjoyed ALL OF the puppy cuddles.

    Tuesday:

    • Easy 2 miles

I thought I was good to go on Tuesday, but apparently not. What was supposed to be a 4 mile run with interval work quickly got cut in half and the intensity got dialed all the way back.

It just wasn’t gonna happen. My whole body felt off. Not sure if that was because last week was pretty hardcore or for some other reason. Either way I figured I needed to back off a bit. So Tuesday’s run was cut short and after a quick shower I took a very hardcore nap. It was pretty great! 😊

    Wednesday:

    • Rest day

After cutting Tuesday’s run short I knew I needed another rest day. Probably should have thrown some recovery activities in there, but oh well. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚ The rest was definitely necessary though.

And unrelated note, but little boy is starting to walk and his eyes and ears are opening! πŸ˜„

    Thursday:

    • 4 miles
    • 15 minutes of Pilates

Felt much better after taking Wednesday off! This run still wasn’t as long as I would have liked to to be though. I was waiting on a phone call about a job, but the guy never called that day. Go figure. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Anyway, did a little bit of Pilates for abs as well. Gotta work that core!! πŸ’ͺ🏻

    Friday:

    • Rest day

Another rest day just because I felt like I needed it. By Friday my legs were feeling super sore and tired. Yuck…

The guy did call me about the job though! So that’s good! Before too long I might just be a factory worker for the Clorox Company. πŸ‘πŸ»

    Saturday:

    • 5.5 miles
    • 20 minute ice bath

So I finally got my head back in the game and finally realized that I’ve been hardcore neglecting my recovery and that’s why I’ve been feeling so shitty. But that kinda happened during my run on Saturday.

I made it 5.5 miles which wasn’t as far as I wanted to go, but it’s farther than I thought I would make it! 🀣 My legs just weren’t having it. So after my run I did my first ice bath of this training cycle. Yeah, like I said, I’ve been neglecting things like that.

But I did it! And it was terrible! πŸ₯Ά But my legs felt so much better afterwards!

    Sunday:

    • Rest day
    • 20 minutes of restorative yoga

    Yup! Another one!

Mostly because Sunday’s are always days of rest for me, but also because I’m really just trying to feel normal in my body again. It’s been a rough week and I wasn’t able to do the kind of training that I really wanted to this week.

Anyway, hopefully week will be better!

    Happy Sunday!

    ~Ashley

    Weekly Recap: August 12th-18th, 2019

    Hell yes!!!

I kicked ass this week!! I followed my training plan to a T, got a bunch of stuff done in our yard and around the house (bonus cross training!! πŸ˜‰), did a little strength training, did some yoga, ate pizza, and got lots of puppy cuddles.

It was a great week! An exhausting week, but still, a great week. 😊

    Monday:

    • 3 easy miles
    • 2 hours of yard work

Sweaty bangs, tomato face, and salt crusted running gear. All side effects of summer running. 🀣 Monday was all about getting in 3 miles into the leg bank. Mission accomplished!!

After my run I spent 2 hours in the hot sun working in my yard. Mostly weed whacking, but also taking care of some stuff in the garden. That totally counts as cross training! πŸ˜‰

    Tuesday:

    • 3 treadmill miles, interval work
    • 20 minutes of pilates

Oh man, I just couldn’t get myself out of bed early enough in the morning for me to even consider outside running as an option. I got up at 8 am and it was already 80 degrees and rising (the heat index actually got up to 103 on Tuesday! πŸ₯΅).

So I ended up doing my interval workout on the treadmill! Not gonna lie, I really didn’t want to do it. I got through it though! While I was running there were these little birds hanging out in the bush right outside of the window that my treadmill is in front of so that was kinda amusing! Watching them sure took my mind off of the fact that I was on the treadmill! At least a it did little bit.

    Wednesday:

    • Easy 2 miles
    • 3 hours of yard work
    • 25 minutes of yoga

More yard work! Yay? Hahaha oh man, we’ve had a lot of stuff going on outside with the garden and rain we’ve been getting! All on top of everything getting slightly neglected last week because of Lily’s surgery and then obtaining new born puppies. It’s been a whirlwind of stuff revolving around all of that. But I’m still getting my training in! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜„

Anyway, I got pooped on by a bird during this run. That was definitely a first for me. Everyone on Instagram said it’s good luck though, so hopefully they’re right!

    Thursday:

    • Rest day

Oh thank goodness!! I needed a day off after all of the yard work, lack of sleep from caring for now one week old puppy, all on top of half marathon training.

Honestly Thursday’s actually have the option of being rest days or cross training days on my training plan. Hopefully that means I will actually be doing cross training most weeks. But this week I definitely needed the rest!

Really though all of the puppy cuddles really makes up for everything. πŸ˜‰

    Friday:

    • more yard work
    • Running around a golf course but not actually playing golf

Friday was a busy day as it usually is for us!

Luke and I spent an hour in the morning doing more yard work. Surprise surprise. πŸ˜‚ At this point were pretty much caught up with all of that though. After we got that done we got groceries, paid the mortgage, bought dog food, and then Luke went golfing.

I didn’t feel much like golfing that day, so I just went with him to keep him company, help him find his golf balls, and fetching clubs for him. I guess some people might find that kinda boring, but I thought it was fun. But then again Luke and I always have fun together. Hahaha plus he has spent plenty of time waiting around for me at races, so I guess I kinda owe him. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

Anyway, when you write it all down it doesn’t sound like a lot, but we were gone most of the day. So obviously we had to treat ourselves to some pizza for dinner. πŸ•πŸ˜‹

It was a Friday very well spent. πŸ˜„

    Saturday:

    • 8 miles

The first two miles of this run were absolutely miserable. The next six were slightly better but not by much. It was a hard day. 🀣

That was a bit unexpected after two days of no running, but it happens. I’m just glad that I got it done!!

    Sunday:

    • 6 miles

Tired, sore as hell, and Luke freaked me out this morning by waking up when I did thinking it was Monday and thinking he was late for work. πŸ˜‚

Weirdly enough though this run ended up being better, faster, and a lot more fun than yesterday’s was. And today I was running on tired legs! Running is just weird like that sometimes. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

So since I was having fun this run turned into an impromptu fartlek session. Now I know some people like to do fartleks that are more structured, with specific times or distances for accelerating and recovering. But to me that’s not a real fartlek. The term is Swedish for “speed play”. So if it’s super structured like than then to me it just feels like an interval work.

To me a fartlek session involves running hard up a hill just to make my quads burn (or more accurately, burn more because they were already tired todayπŸ˜‚). Trying to pass the guy walking his dog before he turns on another street. Seeing how fast I can get from one end park to the Baptist church across the street. And other random pick ups, slow downs, and variations in speed just for fun. With no specifics in mind. And that’s exactly what happened today. πŸ˜„

    Total Weekly Mileage: 22.01

Mission accomplished!!!!! 100% completed this week of half marathon training exactly as my training plan called for! Woohoo!!

So yeah, right now things are going well in my world! Super stoked at how this week went and I sure hope next week goes just as well! πŸ˜„

Kicking my week off with a rest day tomorrow. Thank goodness! I’m tired. 😴 But also feel very accomplished. It’s a good feeling.

I hope you had a fantastic week and have a great Sunday night!

    ~Ashley

    Weekly Recap: August 5th-11th, 2019

Oops. This posted before I was finished writing it. 🀣 I ended up babysitting my niece and nephew last night so I kinda completely forgot to finish writing my weekly recap. Oh well. Here it is in its entirety now. πŸ˜‰

    Anyway!

Woohoo! I am back at it! πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

This summer has been a crazy one but all of the craziness has, for the most part, settled down! I feel like I’ve finally gotten into half marathon training! Which is good because technically I should be three weeks into it at this point. Oops. But at least I’m into it now!

This week was a little bit stressful. It didn’t go as planned, but I think it ended up being relatively successful! πŸ˜„

    Monday:

    • 3 easy miles
    • 25 minutes of yoga

Will waking up at 5 am ever get easier? Probably not… But at least you get rewarded by getting to watch the sun rise when you wake up that early!

I actually woke up 10 minutes before my 5 am alarm. That really sucked because I really did t want to be awake but at the same time I didn’t see any point in laying in bed for 10 minutes, so I got up, ate breakfast, got dressed, and then headed out for my run. Which was relatively uneventful, but still good. 😁

    Tuesday:

    • 3 miles. Intervals.
    • 15 minutes of yoga

So I did my very first podcast interview on Tuesday! That was scary! But also so much fun!!! I can’t wait for it to come out and I’ll definitely share with you guys when it does! And don’t worry, I won’t let my new found podcast fame go to my head. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, my first speedy session of hall marathon training is done!! Unfortunately it had to happen on the treadmill. I slept in on Tuesday because I was up until 3 am the night before dealing with a vomiting dog. The dog is fine now, but by the time I woke up it was too hot out for me to want to run outside.

It’s all good though. This kind of interval workout is my favorite kind and it ended up going really well! 😊

    Wednesday:

    • 3.5 easy miles

Whew! This was a tough one! But I kinda figured it would be, considering how well my interval workout on Tuesday went. πŸ˜‚

We had some thunderstorms roll in that morning so I waited until around 10 am to do this run. By then it was just lightly raining and it was very nice.

    Thursday:

    • Rest day

So super duper long story short, Lily had to have an emergency surgery on Thursday. She is 100% fine now, but for most of the day on Thursday I was incapable of doing anything until the vet called me sand told me everything went well and that she was waking up from her surgery just fine. Whew. That was a long day…

Hahaha so this photo is actually from Thanksgiving 2015 but it’s o e of my favorites of Lily! My sister and I were going to feed my dad’s cows and she kept them from getting outside of the fence and then kept them away from their feeder while we filled it with hay. She is a very good dog. πŸ’œ

    Friday:

    • 2 treadmill miles

Oh man, Friday was relatively uneventful. Got in two miles on my treadmill and that was pretty much it! πŸ˜‚

    Saturday:

    • 4 treadmill miles

Winchester cheered me on for this one!!

Ok, really he just likes to hang out on my yoga mat, but whatever. πŸ˜‰

But oh man, Saturday was a hot one! And I just wasn’t feeling it really. I got in 4 miles and just called it good. But hey, it sure beats not doing anything!!

    Sunday:

    • 2 miles

So on Sunday I decided I was going to do 3 easy miles to just squeeze in some more miles since I didn’t really do a long run this week. I only ended up making it to two though because it was hot and humid and I wasn’t into it. πŸ₯΅ But again, a little something is better than nothing!!

After my two miles I had planned on resting and relaxing for the rest of the day, but I actually ended up babysitting my niece and nephew. They’re good kids, but jeez they can be exhausting! So so much for resting and relaxing. πŸ˜‚ At one point my nephew was playing on my phone and he took 8 million pictures of his shoe, my table, me, and his sisters feet. Good times. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Lol yeah, such a flattering photo. And this was probably the best one. 🀣

    Total Weekly Mileage: 17.56

That’s about 2.5 miles less than I was aiming for, but honestly that’s not too bad! All-in-all I’m happy with how last week went and I’m looking forward to having an even better week this week!!

    Happy Monday!

    ~Ashley

    Weekly Recap: July 8th-14th, 2019

So having two teenagers (my brother and sister in law) living in my house this week has been an interesting endeavor. Not that it was bad or anything! It’s just that…they’re teenagers. So they sleep in a lot later than I do. So a lot of tip toeing around the house happened in the mornings. πŸ˜‚

Especially the early mornings when I had to get up at 5 am if I wanted to run before it got too terribly hot out. There were a few of those days. I sure hate having to wake up that early, but I always regret it when I don’t. The sun is not my friend in the summer…

Not gonna lie, I legit have a countdown on my phone for the Autumn Equinox and the first day of October. My body is ready!!! πŸŽƒπŸ‚

    Monday:

    • 4 easy miles

I’d say I’m just trying to get back into the swing of things, but the swing of things has still been a little bit off this week, obviously! πŸ˜‰ So really I’m just trying to squeeze it in when I can.

So on Monday I was up at 5 am to get my run done! I’m not a fan of having to wake up that early, but at least I was treated to a nice sunrise. After my run I had to take care of a bunch of stuff around the house before my sister in laws got here. One of them left after a few minutes. She still had about a 5 hour drive to St. Louis. But obviously the other one stayed here with us. 😊 She and I, plus her brother spent the rest of the day hanging out and kinda picking on each other. Because what else are siblings supposed to do?? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    Tuesday:

    • 2 treadmill miles
    • 20 minutes of yoga

Hahaha oh boy, I was tired from my early wake up and then later bedtime on Monday, so I ended up sleeping in till 8 on Tuesday. That’s definitely not a great thing to do in the summer. When I woke up the sun was out and it was HOT. So I decided I was going to do my run on the treadmill instead. I’m a huge wimp when it comes to the heat. πŸ₯΅πŸ€£

So I had to waited until about 11 to do this 2 mile run. My brother in law has been sleeping on an air up mattress in our spare bedroom, which is really our “exercise room” because that’s where my treadmill, stationary bike, yoga mats, foam rollers, and running shoes now reside. But yet again the problem with teenagers is they like to sleep in late. And I get it. I was a teenager once too. But I’m a morning runner and an inpatient person so I git tired of waiting. So I ended up running outside anyway. πŸ˜‚

Oh man that was miserable! I wanted to do a little bit of speed work today but that wasn’t going to happen in the mid-morning heat! So I just did two slow miles. Hahaha but that’s better than nothing! Afterwards I enjoyed some nice, cold watermelon, because literally nothing is better after a hot run. πŸ‰πŸ˜‹

    Wednesday:

    • 5 miles
    • 30 minutes on the stationary bike

77 degrees. 94% humidity. At least that’s what the weather was like when I started my run on Wednesday morning at 5:30 I’m the morning.

Not exactly fun times, but I got it done!! Doing my very best to get back on track after 3 not so great running weeks. So far so good! 😊 Even though getting back into it is hard as hell and kinda hurts. πŸ˜‚ But I also know that it won’t be that way for long and that definitely helps!

    Thursday:

    • Rest day

My legs were starting to feel HEAVY by Wednesday! πŸ˜‚ So a rest day definitely felt good on Thursday!

Hahaha originally I wanted it to be a cross training day, but I was tired so πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

    Friday:

    • Zoo day

So Friday didn’t end up going as I had planned, but it was a fun day! Luke kinda decided at the last minute that he wanted to take his brother and sister to the Kansas City Zoo and art museum so that’s what we did!

It was a long, hot day, but still lots of fun. You can read more about it here if you’re interested! 😁

    Saturday:

    • 7 miles on the treadmill

So this was a weird run. Actually it just felt like a weird day in general! πŸ˜‚

So usually I run in the morning, but I woke up late on Saturday (our zoo adventures kinda sapped everyone’s energy, I think!) and decided I was going to run on the treadmill. But I had to wait until 1:20 pm when my brother in law finally woke up because he’s been sleeping on an air mattress in our spare bedroom, which is where my treadmill is. So that was all just weird.

Then about 4 miles into my run my dad called me and we talked for about an hour. But since I couldn’t really hear with the treadmill going I had to stop. So yeah, my 7 miles weren’t exactly consecutive. But at least I finished them after I got off of the phone with my dad. πŸ˜‚

Then I did some stretching, showered, ate, and all of a sudden it was 4 pm but it felt like it should have only be 11 am (because I usually do all of this in the morning) and my whole perception of time was off for the rest of the day. But at least I got 7 miles done. πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

    Sunday:

    • Rest day

    Happy anniversary to us!

7 years married. 11 years (almost πŸ˜‰) together. And 13 years of knowing each other. We’re still the coolest people I know. πŸ˜ŽπŸ–€πŸ˜‚

    Total Weekly Mileage: 18

Not exactly what I’ve been aiming for, but after everything we’ve had going on I’ll definitely take it!! 😊

My sister in law left today, and while I really enjoyed having another girl around here, that’s one less person I have to worry about which means I’ll have a little more time on my hands next week. πŸ˜‰ So maybe I’ll be able to squeeze in a few more miles. But I am happy with what I was able to get done this week. πŸ˜„

Happy Sunday! I hope you had a great week!

    Weekly Recap: June 24th-30th, 2019

Wow very little running happened this week! Honestly I just haven’t been feeling it. But after several pretty darn good weeks in a row I’ll take one down week!

    Monday:

    • Rest day
    • 15 minutes of yoga

Holy moly I was TIRED On Monday. Last week was a tough one. I feel like I ran really well and accomplished what I wanted to accomplish as far as running goes, but it was hard. And I literally didn’t want to do anything after I finished every single run last week. But that’s usually how summer running ends up going for me.

But anyway, after two hard week in a row this is more of a down week and I’m hardcore embracing that!! 😊

    Tuesday:

    • 3 miles

Whew I woke up late (7:15) I’m Tuesday. Whoops.

So the sun was up and it was HOT when I got out to run. But on the bright side, I was feeling a lot better after taking Monday off. 😊 3 more miles in the leg bank. πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

    Wednesday:

    • Rest Day

Just not feelin’ it in Wednesday. Plus my hip was feeling a little bit weird. Nothing crazy or anything. I think I just tweaked it at some point. Hahaha but either way, maybe the rest day was a good thing because of that. πŸ˜‰

    Thursday:

    • 8 miles in the treadmill
    • 30 minutes on the stationary bike

My hip was definitely feeling better on Thursday! Hahaha I wasn’t exactly planning on running 8 miles on the treadmill but it just kinda happened. πŸ˜‚

That’s actually the farthest I’ve ever run on the treadmill! I’m not particularly fond of treadmill running (who is, really? πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ) so I don’t often spend much time there. But anyway, I talked more about this run here, if you’re interested. πŸ‘πŸ»

    Friday:

    • 25 minutes of yoga
    • Several margaritas consumed

Hahaha oh man, it’s been so HOT! We were under a heat advisory from Wednesday to Saturday morning so I just was NOT feeling doing much of anything on Friday. Actually, I feel like the heat had really contributed to my general lethargy this week. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, Friday night Luke grilled some steak and corn (yum!!) and we made strawberry margaritas! πŸ˜‹ We used fresh strawberries and a little bit of ice so they had an almost smoothie like consistency and they were AMAZING! I don’t drink very often, and when I do it’s usually beer or wine, I’m not much into hard liquor. But these were super good. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

This margarita tasted like I wasn’t running the next day. πŸ˜‰

    Saturday:

    • Rest Day

Surprisingly I didn’t wake up feeling too terrible after the margaritas Friday night! Apparently the strawberries and ice helped keep me hydrated. πŸ˜‰

Still didn’t feel like running though. Honestly, this has just been an off week for me running wise. It happens and I decided that I was just going to roll with it. Sometimes it’s good to just take a little step back and relax a little and just enjoy myself. Hence the margaritas on Friday followed by Chinese food on Saturday. πŸ˜‰

But burnout is a very real thing, and since I’d like to continue running for as long as physically possible I do my best to keep it fun and just kinda go with the flow when it’s not. Or if I’m feeling tired of just feel like I need a little break.

Look at all of those tongues! The dogs aren’t really fond of this heat either!

    Sunday:

Another chill day for the most part. Walked some dogs in the morning, then cleaned the house while enjoying one of the best albums ever recorded. πŸ˜„

This evening we took Whiskey to a trail and then an off leash dog park for a little bit. It was freaking hot!! πŸ₯΅ But I got some of my Gobbler Grind fliers hung up so that’s good. 😊 Hopefully people will see them and use my code!! I guess we’ll see. 😁

So yeah, there ya go! A very non-running filled week. πŸ˜‚ But, I think next week will be better. I’ve had a week of dealing with the REAL hot and humid weather and I think I’ve some what adjusted to it. Or at least adjusted as much as I’m going to. I’m literally already counting down the days until the Fall Equinox. πŸŽƒ πŸ˜‚

Yeah, fall can’t get here soon enough! πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅

    Anyway, that’s all for now!

    Happy Sunday!
