Halloween Playlist

You’re probably going to be see me saying that all fall/winter. October-January is my favorite time of the year!! 🙂

Since it’s my most favorite time of year, I have some pretty awesome playlists put together. Well, I think they’re awesome anyway. This one has been a few years in the making and I still don’t feel like it’s quite done yet. Halloween specific songs (or at least songs that are sorta Halloween-y) that I actually like seem kinda hard to find. I am, however, quite happy with what I have so far! This playlist is super fun, whether you’re running or decorating for Halloween, it’ll definitely get you in a spooky mood.

Friday Fives: Top 5 Music Albums To Run To

Are you the type of person who would make your own playlist or just listen to a whole album? I used to prefer making my own  playlists, especially really long ones that I could shuffle. That way I’d always be surprised but I’d never end up with a song that wasn’t exciting enough.

Recently though I’ve been really into whole albums. Just listening to one song is kinda like reading one part of a whole story. Sure you probably get the gist, but you miss out on a whole lot. Plus listening to a whole album during a long run can be a pretty magical experience. 🙂

1. American Idiot

My all time favorite album by my all time favorite band. If you are one of the few unfortunate souls who’ve never heard this album all the way through, I HIGHLY suggest you listen to it right now! Seriously, you’re missing out if you haven’t. Better yet, listen to it on your next run! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

2. Insomniac

This is my “go to” album. If I want music on a run, but can’t decide what I want to listen to, 90% of the time I choose this album, and it’s always a good choice. I’m a little bit biased though. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Green Day is my favorite. 🙂

This album isn’t great for long runs though, I’m pretty sure it’s something like 36 minutes long. So I like it for shorter runs and for speed work.

3. London Calling

It is my personal belief that London Calling is one of the best albums ever written!

The whole thing is super exciting, fun, and interesting! I’ve definitely never been bored while listening to this album. Plus it’s pretty long, so it works well for my long runs.

4. Death of a Bachelor

So, I’m a little late, but I’m jumping on the Panic! At The Disco bandwagon.

I mean, since high school I’ve always liked Panic! At The Disco, but I never got super into them. Not until Death of A Bachelor that is. I’m not gonna lie, I’m not entirely sure what it is about this album that I like so much. It’s definitely not the kinda thing I’d usually be into, but man do I love it!

5. Let’s Go

I kinda struggled with picking a 5th album for this list. I really wanted to go with Dos or Dookie or Awesome as Fuck, but I figured 3 out of 5 of the albums on this list shouldn’t be Green Day. That just wouldn’t be fair.

It finally came to me though, freaking Rancid!! Let’s Go has been one of my favorites since I was 16. After I heard Side Kick I was pretty much hooked, and when I found a copy at a music/movie/video game store I bough it and annoyed the shit out of Luke with if for like, a week! Haha he doesn’t like Rancid. Or The Clash, or the Ramones for that matter…How boring is that?! 😉

This is definitely one of those albums that you need to turn up loud and totally rock out to. But don’t rock out too hard if you’re running. I made that mistake on a treadmill once and I’ll never make it again.

Friday Fives: Current Favorite Running Songs

Yay! Two things I love to talk about; music and running! My favorite songs to run to are constantly changing, as I get really bored if I listen to the same things over and over again. But as of right now, these are five of my favorites.

1. Mother Mary by The Foxboro Hot Tubs

I fangirl a little bit every time this song comes on. Always. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you probably know that I’m a tad bit obsessed with Green Day (I literally have a piece of artwork from one of their albums permanently inked into my body) and this just so happens to be one of their side bands, so I guess it would make sense for me to be a huge fan of the Foxboro Hot Tubs.

Oh man this whole album is just too much fun, but Mother Mary is definitely my favorite song off of it. The music video is pretty exciting too. 😉

2. Baba O’Riley by The Who

So, I’m not gonna lie to you I’m pretty sure this is the only song I actually know by The Who. And I have no desire to even look into more of their stuff because they don’t exactly strike me as a band I would be able to really get into. All I know is that this song is great to run to.

3. Remedy by Seether

Ah Seether. They always bring back memories of high school. I guess because they were pretty popular then. Are the still really big? I haven’t really heard much about them lately, but it seems like rock and alternative music is really going by the wayside. Sad face…

Anyway, a lot of Seether songs are good for running. They are just the right amount of angry, angsty-ness to get me through tough runs.

4. Dammit by Blink 182

I’m not exactly a huge fan of Blink 182, but this is another song that’s just the right amount of angry angst, set to a really awesome beat.

5. Thunderstruck by AC/DC

All AC/DC songs are great for running! I mean, it’s fucking AC/DC!! How can they not get you super pumped?!

What are some of your favorite running songs? I’m always looking for new stuff to listen to!

Spring 2016 Playlist

A new season means a new running playlist!!

Now this may sound kinda crazy, but hear me out; most of my running playlists revolve around the weather.

Some of the songs on certain playlists are kind of obvious. For example, “Summertime” by Kenny Chesney is always on my Summer playlist, or “Living Dead Girl” by Rob Zombie can usually be found on my Fall playlist. Especially around Halloween.

Then there are some songs that are not so obvious that just make me thing about particular seasons for whatever reason, and for Spring it’s usually “pop punk” for me. Like, whenever it starts warming up, the sun starts coming out, and the weather gets super nice, and everyone starts getting super excited. You know what I’m talking about, right? “Pop punk” just kinda fits that feeling in my mind.

(Just a side not that’s not exactly relevant but I have to put out there anyway. I HATE the whole idea of “pop punk”. It just feels like an oxymoron to me. And I’m not gonna lie, admitting that I like some of these songs is kind of embarrassing and makes me feel like I’m 14 all over again, but I whatever…)

So, yeah, I’m done trying to explain this because I don’t really get it either haha. So without further ado, here’s my Springtime playlist.Which isn’t all “pop punk”, but there is quite a bit of that on there.
