Sunday Funday

Well we’ve done it! Another week done and dusted!!

I’d be lying if I said I was looking forward to the upcoming week, but I am trying to stay positive about it! This week is only a 3 day week. That means I’ll only have to spend something close to 36 hours at the Clorox plant. A place I don’t exactly enjoy being.

Last week I somehow managed to really bruise my arm while working there. I honestly have no clue how I accomplished this. I never really felt anything that could have done it, but obviously something happened. I went into work without a bruise and I left that evening with one hell of a mark on my left forearm!

Yeah, it’s pretty bad right?!? But I literally didn’t notice it until I was walking into the office to sign out for the day (I was wearing long sleeves so I never saw it). I’ve gotten all sorts of bruises working here but I never really thought anything of them because they were just small things. But this one I had to report. Luckily my shift lead was really nice about it and asked me several times through my shift the next day if I was alright. And I was! My arm was just a little bit sore. πŸ˜‚

It looked worse on the second day! Haha but luckily now it’s mostly healed and you can just faintly see it.

So yeah. Hopefully I make it through this week unscathed! 🀣 I’ve still been frantically applying to other jobs though. This right here is a fantastic example of why I don’t want to work at this plant any longer than I have to. I’m literally getting beat up and I hate it…

And my getting beat up at work is not helping my running. Like, at all. I’m just tired and worn down all of the time. I ran a grand total of 10 miles this week. Yikes. Yesterday I set out to do a 10-12 mile long run but I only made it 3 miles. That’s literally all I had in me. That’s not boding well for my upcoming half marathons. Honestly I have no clue how I’m going to get through them at this point. But I guess I’m going to try.

In other news, I recently bought a collagen supplement to try out!

I’ve been wanting to try out a collagen supplement for a while now. Mostly because it’s a good way to get more protein into my diet but also because it’s great for muscles, bones, and tendons. It’s also great for your nails and hair which is just an added bonus really. My hair is pretty thick and healthy and it grows pretty fast on its own, but my nails are pathetic. They’re super thin and brittle, and I can’t get them to grow at all because they’re constantly breaking. Hahaha so I’m hoping that the collagen not only helps aid my body in recovering from my runs and now my physically demanding job, but maybe my nails will look a little bit better too. πŸ˜‚

Anyway, I’ve heard lots of good things about Vital Proteins so that’s what I went with! I got the flavorless collagen peptides powder that I haven’t tried yet but I’m super excited about! Flavorless means I can put it in pretty much anything which is great because then there is literally no reason for me not to consume it. I also got 3 bottles of collagen water because I was super intrigued by the idea. So far I have tried 2 of those. πŸ˜‰

I really like them! I would definitely say that the collagen is pretty much tasteless! Or at the very least it doesn’t have any weird texture or aftertaste that a lot of supplements (and especially protein powders) can get. As far as flavors go the Blackberry Hibiscus was ok, but I REALLY liked the Lemon Ginger! But I’ve always been partial to anything ginger flavored. πŸ˜‰

Like I said I haven’t actually tried the collagen peptide powder out yet but I’ll get there on Tuesday probably! Tomorrow I plan on drinking my last collagen water, the Strawberry Lemon, and then from there I think I’ll be adding the flavorless collagen powder to my coffee! So I’ll let you know how that turns out and I’ll definitely update you on any changes I see/feel after trying all of this collagen stuff out for a while.

I gotta say though, I’m probably going to end up getting more of the collagen water. It’s pretty darn good! πŸ˜‹

Alrighty! So does anyone else just take a bunch of random stuff, throw it in a pot, and call it soup? Because I do that a lot. πŸ˜‚

Today I sautΓ©ed some onions and butternut squash in some olive oil, added bone broth, water, and split peas to the pot, brought it all to a boil, and then simmered it until the peas were soft. I burnt the onions a little bit, but it still turned out to be pretty darn tasty! Which is good because now I have lunches ready to go for this week! πŸ˜„

The rest of my day was spent doing chores, walking dogs, and getting all of my shit ready and laid out for work tomorrow.

Now I’m be spending my evening the same way I’ve been spending them lately; curled up on the couch with a Stephen King novel (I just bought his new book The Institute last night and I’m excited to start it), with my warm wool socks on and my fall candles lit! It’s an ideal way to end the day. 😊

Happy Sunday everyone! Sending you all positive vibes for the week to come!

It’s Finally Fall!!

Last Wednesday it got up to 85 degrees in the afternoon. So basically the same kinda temperatures we’ve been having for a while here in Kansas. But overnight the temperature dropped like crazy and we woke up to a crisp 52 degrees in the morning!

Haha so one day is was summer and then the next day it was fall. πŸ˜‚ I’m sure not complaining though! Cool weather is my favorite and October-January is pretty much my favorite time of year. 😁

Anyway, the latter half of last week was just a whirlwind of activity! My brother-in-law got married on Saturday so a bunch of our family traveled from out of state to Kansas for that and things were just a little hectic as they sometimes get when you have a bunch of people traveling and visiting for a wedding. All on top of my first “week” of working at the Clorox plant. So needless to say, it was a pretty tiring week!

Thursday night Luke’s dad, step-mom, and his youngest brother stopped by our house to hang out for a little bit and to drop off their dog, Lexi after they drove in from Illinois. They were staying at a hotel and they didn’t want to board her at a kennel so she stayed with us over the weekend.

On Friday morning Luke’s mom, and one of his brothers and sisters got here after a long trip from Minnesota. They actually got here while Luke and his dad were out golfing. πŸ˜‚ So we just hung out at our house for a while until Luke got home. Then we had to head to the rehearsal dinner for the wedding.

After we got through the rehearsal Luke dropped me and his sister off at our house and then him, his two brothers, his dad, and some of their friends took my brother-in-law to Top Golf for his bachelor party. So while they did that Luke’s sister and I painted our nails and introduced each other to the music each of us likes. πŸ˜‚ Around midnight she got tired and went to bed. Not long after that Luke, his brother, and my brother-in-law (I know this gets super confusing with all of his siblings. πŸ˜‚) came to our house to stay the night. My brother-in-law and his fiancΓ©e were doing the thing were you don’t see the bride until the wedding day, so he couldn’t stay at his house. We had a lot of fun though! Quite a bit of alcohol was consumed and we stayed up until almost 4 am. It was like old times waaay back in the day. It was a lot of fun!

Alcohol influenced our music selection. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Saturday morning we all woke up pretty late. Obviously. πŸ˜‚ Not long after we got up Luke’s grandparents dropped by to visit for a little bit. After they left my brother-in-law left to go get ready for his wedding, Luke and I had to drop his brother and sister off at the house where his mom, aunt, and grandma were staying, then we drove back home, got ready, then headed to the wedding venue. Several hours later and long story short, my brother-in-law was married and everyone headed upstairs to the reception.

Honestly it was one of the strangest wedding receptions I’ve been to. They did the usual first dance, parents dances, cutting the cake, and then they did a dollar dance, and that was pretty much the only dancing any adults did. The dance floor was quickly taken over by the shit ton of children who were there and most of the adults in my age range ended up hanging out outside for a while. πŸ˜‚ It was pretty fun though!

My brother-in-law and I during the dollar dance. πŸ˜‚

After the reception Luke and I took his brother and sister back to our house and we stayed up until 1:30 am playing board games. It was a good time. πŸ˜„

Yesterday everyone who drove to Kansas stopped by our house to say goodbye and then they headed back to Illinois and Minnesota. Luke’s dad, step-mom, and youngest brother took “PuppyPuppy” home with them. He’s 8 weeks old now and while I think it’s usually best to keep them until they’re 10 weeks old, this case was a little bit different. So he’s at his home now.

We’re are going to miss him a little bit, but honestly Luke and I are mostly relieved that he’s gone. Puppies are a lot of work and we’re both over being woken up by a puppy that wants to play at 3 am every morning. So he’s their problem now. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰

Hahaha alright. That’s a super condensed version of all of this weekend’s shenanigans. But basically the point I wanted to get across was that we had some busy days, late nights, and more alcohol than I usually consume. It was fun though. πŸ˜„

I spent yesterday evening attempting to recover from all of the fun and mentally prepare for the next 3 days of 12 hours a day at the Clorox plant. I like to think I succeeded in that endeavor. I was in bed by 8 pm and waking up at 4 am this morning wasn’t too bad.πŸ˜‰

My workday today was a freaking drag though!!! The plant was having all sorts of issues with a new computer system that they have going on, so our lines went down at 10 am and they never went back up. So from 10 am – 5 pm we had to find other ways to keep ourselves busy. It was horrible. The day felt like it went on FOREVER!

But now I’ve got one down, two more to go! But I have to work Sunday. So that means I’ll be working 4 days in a row. Not looking forward to that…

Not gonna lie, I’ve been applying to some other jobs I’ve seen on job boards. I’ll get paid less at basically any other job, but I just don’t think I’m cut out for factory life. It’s not too terrible now. But once mandatory overtime kicks in and I have to work 5-6 days a week at 12 hours a day. Yeah, I’m not sure my injury prone body can handle that. I’m just now starting to heal up from my first week of working at this plant. But I’m just going to look like this again by the end of the week because I’m sure we’ll actually be working tomorrow and Wednesday.

Battle scars from my first week.

Bleh. I’m already over it…

Pumpkin Picking 2019

Woohoo! The tradition continues!!

Every year since Luke and I moved from Illinois to Kansas we’ve gone pumpkin picking in the fall. Not on any specific date. We just go whenever works best for us. Or at a particular place. We’ve gone to a few different cider mills, orchards, and straight up pumpkin patches. But it’s still a tradition that’s still going strong 7 years as of today!

We took Dean with us today because we’ve always wanted to bring a dog with us but we never bothered looking up whether or not we could until today. πŸ˜‚ But they said dogs were allowed so we brought one!!

Hahaha it’s hard picking when you’ve got 4 to choose from. But we chose Dean because he’s the most laid back and chill. Plus he has very little herding drive so he didn’t really bother the goats and chickens and rabbits at the petting zoo area. Lily, Finn, and Whiskey would have wanted to herd all of the critters. πŸ˜‚

Anyway, we went to the Louisburg Cider Mill bright and early this morning! We got there at 8 am, right when they open, so we could beat the heat and the crowds! And we were totally successful!!

First we took Dean through the corn maze. He was very confused about that. He wanted to keep running through the corn. Eventually he figured out that we were staying on the path though and eventually we let him lead the way. He wasn’t very successful about finding his way to the end, but eventually Luke and I figured it out! Hahaha I’m pretty sure that was the first time I’ve actually entered and exited a corn maze in the correct place. πŸ˜‚

After we finished the corn maze we got down to business picking THE PERFECT pumpkin! I think we succeeded in that endeavor! It’s HUGE, and round, and perfect! Hahaha I’m very excited! πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

Surprisingly enough I don’t have any photos of it right now. I’m sure I’ll have a whole bunch throughout the rest of spooky season though! But I do have a few photos of the pumpkin patch and Dean dragging me through it. πŸ˜‚

Whew! That was a lot of fun!! After we picked out our perfect (but super expensive) pumpkin we went to the little country store they have there and got some loose tea (they have THE BEST loose tea) and soup mix. Yum!! πŸ˜‹

Now if only the weather would cooperate and cool off! It was super nice out this morning but it got up to 90 by this afternoon. Boo… It is supposed to cool down but next week though and I sure hope it does! I’m looking forward to some fall weather!

Anyway, after our pumpkin picking adventures Luke and I ran some errands, bough groceries, then went to Walmart for some golf balls because Luke wanted to golf today. So we did get his golf balls. But we also ended up with some mini pumpkins as well. πŸ˜‚

And he did get to get in 18 holes of golf. I didn’t feel like playing though so I played the part of caddy/spectator. πŸ˜‰

So I got to go pumpkin picking which is one of my favorite things and Luke got yo go golfing which is one of his favorite things, so everyone was a winner today! πŸŽƒ 🏌️😊

And now that we’re done with all of that fun we’re going to spend our evening just hanging out at home. And I’m going to at least attempt to prepare for my long run tomorrow. Really all I need to do is make sure I have breakfast ready, set my coffee maker, and lay out my clothes. But I don’t feel like doing That right now. I should also probably drink some water because I basically haven’t all day. Oops.🀣

Anyway, happy Friday everyone!!

Fall, FRΓ‰ Skincare, My New Job, and Other Randomness

First off, happy Fall!!!

I’m a little late I know, but I’ve been pretty busy and kinda stressed out lately. But I am super duper excited that fall is finally here!! Now hopefully the weather will start cooperating soon. It’s still hitting near the 80’s in the afternoons here. But it’s looking like that’s finally going to stop by next week! Yay!!

I’m very much looking forward to cooler temps! Cooler weather makes for better running. πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜„

Anyway, I’m super duper excited to announce that I now how my very first affiliate link! Yay!

Now you probably know that I don’t like to work with or promote brands or companies that I don’t personally use or that I don’t believe in and this is no different.

I’ve been using FRΓ‰’s 123 kit for several weeks now and when they invited me to join their ambassador program I jumped at the chance!!

I never actually had a skin care routine before I got my FRΓ‰ 123 kit. My skin isn’t overly oily or dry and while I do get pimples every once in a while I don’t really suffer from acne. So I never thought that I needed to do anything special for my skin, outside of the random face masks I occasionally do. But oh boy was I wrong!

My skin has never felt so clean and fresh and healthy! I know it’s hard to tell in pictures. Especially since everyone edits them (although I can assure you I only ever do slight adjustments to the lighting, color, and add filters to my photos. πŸ˜‰). But it really has made a huge difference!

So, what I do with the 123 FRΓ‰ set is super simple! I use the “Protect Me” product before I run. It’s basically just a fancy sun screen. But it goes on so light and smooth, unlike most sunscreens, plus it smells great! Then in the shower after I run, I use the bottle of “Purify Me”. This stuff is so nice! It cleans out your pores and exfoliates your skin using Jojoba beads instead of plastic micro beads (which is super important! The less plastic we can use in this world the better!). And last but not least and my personal favorite is “Revive me”, which I apply after I get out of the shower. This stuff is super hydrating and strengthens skin barrier to help prevent dehydration. Plus it feels so light and fresh going onto your skin! I LOVE it!

Pre-run skincare!!

So if you’d like to check out the 123 FRΓ‰ set, or any of FRΓ‰’s skincare products please use my referral link;

https://www.freskincare.com/REBEL25

Plus today and TODAY ONLY you can use my code REBEL25 to buy one get one free on ALL FRΓ‰ products! Including sets like the 123 FRΓ‰ set which I absolutely love! 😊

If you miss out on the BOGO sale my code REBEL25 will always get you 15% off of any order on FRΓ‰ Skincare’s website.

Let me know if you use any FRΓ‰ products! I’d like to hear what you think!! All I can say is they’ve definitely made me a believer in a good skincare routine! Even with all of the stress that’s been currently going on in my life my skin looks and feels amazing!

Seriously though! I’ve been so stressed lately because I’ve been looking for a job/trying to get hired onto the Clorox plant here in my town since August. Yeah. That’s been a long, painful process. I also had an interview with Garmin earlier this month, but they “aren’t able to offer me employment at this time”. Bummer. But ya girl is now a temp at the Clorox plant! And as long as I don’t somehow fuck up my 90 day temp period I’ll be hired on as an actual employee with real benefits!

So I started my training yesterday. Me and another girl came in around noon and had to watch a slideshow presentation thing put on by one of the employees there. Then he walked us through the plant, explained what all of the machines do and basic protocol, assigned us lockers, we took a lunch break, and then he turned us over to people who work at the stations we’ll be working at. That was when my new friend and I parted ways for a little bit as we’ll be at different stations (and shifts). Basically all I did was observe for around 2 hours while the other guy explained what I’d be doing. So yeah. It’s not the best or most exciting job ever, but for $18 an hour (which is the most my uneducated ass could ever hope for) I can’t complain too much.

I go back on Monday to start my actual shifts. For my temp time I’ll be working the D1 shift which is Monday – Wednesday, 4:30 am – 5 pm and every third Sunday (everyone works every third Sunday) which is definitely ideal! I was told there was s good chance I’d end up moving to D2 which is the same hours but Wednesday – Saturday. Much less ideal, but still better than having to work overnights. Which I’m sure I’ll end up having to at some point, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Honesty, at this point I’m a little intimidated. It’s a lot of stuff to learn, but apparently it’s pretty easy once you learn it. So hopefully Monday, my first real day, goes well. I guess we’ll see!

Anyway, ITS SPOOKY SEASON BITCHES!!!

I mean, it’s been spooky season in my world for a while now, but you know what I mean. πŸ˜‰

So tomorrow Luke is taking me pumpkin picking! Yay!!!! I’m so freaking stoked!! So stoked in fact, that I went out waaay too fast for my run this morning. That coupled with the fact that I may or may not have CHUGGED three glasses of wine last night made me feel like actually death by about mile 2. πŸ˜‚ So I ended up running home and calling it good. So I made it 2.53 miles which is about 1/2 a mile shorter than I wanted, but I’ll still take it. I might have felt pretty bad, but they were still a fun 2.5 miles! 😁

Okey dokey then! That’s all for today!

Wishing everyone a very happy spooky season!
