Stay Spooky

I saw this shirt on Etsy on Friday and I was like, “I absolutely NEED this!!” So of course I bought it. And it’s already here!! It literally shipped a few hours after I ordered it and I couldn’t believe it! That’s the fastest I’ve ever had an online order come. So I’m a super happy camper! 😊

Here’s the link to the Etsy shop I bought it from. I definitely recommend this shop! Obviously because my order got here so quickly but also because the shirt is great quality, super comfy, and bat!!! πŸ¦‡πŸŒ™

This wasn’t sponsored or anything. Just wanted to share a neat find!

Anyway, Today was a rest day! Yay!!

I sure needed it! I’m actually not sore or anything today. I’m just feeling tired, depleted, and a little bit dehydrated. When I woke up this morning I almost felt sick. Once I got some breakfast and water in me I felt a lot better. But still. A day off from running was definitely needed.

So, this morning I drank a bunch of water, watched Kiki’s Delivery Service, and did a DIY face mask. I love DIY beauty stuff. I know exactly what’s going onto sand therefore into my body. Everything is natural without any weird ingredients, chemicals, or preservatives.

This face mask is super simple, is only made up of two ingredients that just might already be in your kitchen (they’re definitely staples in mine!), and leaves my skin feeling super silky and clean! So literally all you do is mix one part raw honey with one part coffee grounds (they can be fresh but I usually use the used grounds from my morning cup of coffee. β˜•οΈπŸ™‚), apply evenly to your face, let it sit for 30 minutes, then wash off. That easy!!

I may or may not have borrowed my husband’s shirt for this. πŸ˜‚

Since raw honey is antibacterial so it’s supposed to be great for acne. It’s also full of antioxidants so it’s supposedly good for anti-aging. Coffee is supposed to be good for circulation and is therefore also good for anti-aging. Plus it’s a natural exfoliant so it helps remove dead skin cells from your face and is also supposed to be good for your complexion.

Now I’m not sure how true all of that stuff is. I just know that it makes my skin feel nice and I like the way it smells. πŸ˜‚

Plus it’s relatively cheap and easy to make if honey and coffee are staples in your kitchen. And I’m all about cheap and easy! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, it was a nice morning.

This afternoon was relaxing and uneventful. Mostly I continued my binge listening of ATWWD while doing some light housework.

This evening Luke and I took Lily to the vet the have the staples from her surgery removed. That was pretty quick and easy! Lily has healed beautifully and is now able to resume her regular activities which is great! Hahaha I was getting tired of yelling at her for jumping up onto the couch or bed because and for running too fast. Things she wasn’t supposed to do because it might rip her staples out. Obviously she was confused about all of that because she’s never been yelled at for doing any of that before. πŸ˜‚ But we’re past all of that now and things can go back to normal in her life.

Anyway, that’s all for today!

Happy Monday! I hope you have a great week!!

Stay spooky, my friends,

Weekly Recap: March 11th-17th, 2019

Well this week turned out to be a pretty good one as far as running, training, actually doing some cross training, and whatnot goes! Mother Nature sure brought a few surprises this week as well, but all-in-all it was a good one!

So let’s get right into it!

Monday:

  • 3 miles on the treadmill
  • 15 minutes on the stationary bike

Did someone speed work on the treadmill to kick off my week! Warmed up with 10 minutes on the stationary bike, did an easy mile on the treadmill, followed by some hard intervals, really focusing on my form, and then an easy half mile cool down, and finally 5 more minutes on the stationary bike.

It was a hard workout, but a good one!! Haha I had a very cute spectator and ran the first few minutes of my easy mile without shoes, just because it felt good not to. πŸ˜„

Anyway, Luke and I cleaned out our extra bedroom and put the treadmill, stationary bike, and other various exercise equipment. We’ve dubbed it the “exercise room” and let me tell ya, it’s pretty sweet having a room dedicated to exercise stuff! It definitely makes actually cross training easier! 😊

Tuesday:

  • 3 easy miles

Holy moly my legs were tired after Monday’s speed work. That coupled with the wind we were experiencing made this run TOUGH. It was a super, slow slog, and I wanted to quit the whole time. But I finished it and I know I’m better for it. 😊

Anyway, it’s definitely starting to feel like spring here in Kansas! It’s getting warmer and windy and I’d say it was getting wet, but we actually had a super wet winter. πŸ˜‚ But it’s looking like we’re gonna have a wet spring as well.

Make a wish. πŸ˜‰

Wednesday:

  • 5.43 miles
  • downed tree stuff

We had wind gusts of up to 50-60 mph on Wednesday. That made for a very interesting day…

Started my day off in my usual way, with a run. 😊I got poured on during the first half of this run! That was a lot of fun!! Although at on point an older gentleman pulled up next to me in his car and offered to take me anywhere I wanted to go. I told him I was alright and politely declined. I know this guy probably had nothing but good intentions, but still, even if I wasn’t having a good time I wouldn’t just get into a car with a stranger like that.

Anyway, the wind really started picking up around the second half of this run. It started getting really bad so I ended up cutting this run a little short. Hahaha I’m good with that though. Running in that wind 5.43 miles should basically count for 6 miles anyway. πŸ˜‰

Later that afternoon we had a tree get blown down onto a power line. Yeah, not good. But thanks to the help of a few neighbors we got it down safely. You can read all about those adventures here, if you’d like. πŸ˜‰

Thursday:

  • 30 minutes on the stationary bike
  • 20 minutes of strength work

Cross train day yay!! Hahaha worked on my kinda wimpy arms after taking a little spin on the stationary bike on Thursday. Followed that up with a little bit of head stand practice just for fun. πŸ™ƒ

Friday:

  • 3.25 miles

Busy busy day!! Didn’t get my run in Friday morning like I usually would. I managed to squeeze it in that afternoon. It was a good one! 😊

It would appear that spring is finally here in Kansas! It was kinda weird, one day it was winter but then the next it was spring. πŸ˜‚ And it’s looking like it’s actually here to stay! We’re supposed to get highs in the 60’s next week. Anyone ready for me to start complaining about the warm weather? Because it’s coming.πŸ˜‚

Saturday:

  • 8 miles
  • 30 minutes on the stationary bike
  • 20 minutes stretching/foam rolling

Oh man, that 8 mile run Saturday morning was an absolute grind. I got through it somehow though! πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

That night my brother-in-law came over and brought his PlayStation that he set up on our second tv, so he and my husband spent the night playing Call Of Duty with their dad and one of their brother’s. I ain’t about that PlayStation life, so while they were doing that I ended up spending some time on our newly set up workout room! Spent some time on my stationary bike and doing some stretching and foam rolling while Lily watched. πŸ˜‚ Then after that I just binge watched more Law and Order SVU until 2 am when my brother-in-Law went home and we finally went to bed. Hahaha I’m not exactly a fan of staying up that late anymore, at least not often, but there was no way I was gonna to be able to sleep with all of that noise they were making. πŸ˜‚

Sunday:

  • Rest day

Spent the day, resting, relaxing, and letting my week of training seep in. πŸ˜„

Total Weekly Mileage: 22.77

Just barely missed the 23 miles I was aiming for! πŸ˜‚ Honestly though that’s close damn enough for me! I’m very happy with how well this week of running went and how easily I was able to jump back into the swing of things after being sick last week. πŸ˜„

At this point we’re about a month out from the trail race my dad and I are doing in Colorado! I got the racer’s guide via email a few days ago and looking at that elevation chart again kinda freaked me out! I’m going to be going from about 1,000 feet above sea level which is where I live to almost 5,000 feet at certain points of this race. There are definitely some hills. Yikes!

Good thing we’re the “Sloth Running Team” and are going to take our time and get there when we get there. πŸ˜‚

Still though, it’s gonna be a tough day! But probably lots of fun! I’m definitely looking forward to it!

Anyway, that’s all for today!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

~Ashley πŸ’šπŸ€

February 18th, 2019

Wow today ended up being a really weird day!

My dentist appointment for my root canal was today. Luke took the day off from work to take me because he’s awesome like that. 😊 Originally he was planning on using sick time. He has something like 130 hours of it that he rarely ever uses.

Anyway, while we we’re on our way to the dentist’s office one of our friends (who works in the San building as Luke but on a different floor) called Luke and asked him where he was. He told Luke that there was a small electrical fire and that they were evacuating the building and telling people to go home. Obviously Luke told him he wasn’t there and that he was taking me to the dentist, and figured that was basically the end of that. He was mostly just excited that he wasn’t going to have to use his sick time anymore. πŸ™„

So we get to the dentist and he does his thing to one of my particularly bad teeth. You might remember last years whole tooth saga of me finally having to go to the dentist and have other teeth taken care of. I have some pretty messed up teeth because…well I’m not sure actually? Genetics? I actually take pretty good care of my teeth. I was just unable to see a dentist for a very long time because I couldn’t afford it. Anyway, my new dentist is a super cool dude and has a whole treatment plan written out. It’s going to take a while to actually get everything done (like, years) because insurance only goes so far and dental work is incredibly expensive…

But luckily today’s root canal went very well! The whole process went smoothly and I’m on my way to having one more tooth taken care of. Next week I go back for a temporary crown and then about two weeks after that I go again for the permanent crown. And then after that I have to wait because that used up most of our insurance for the year along with $500 out of pocket. Luckily Luke had $600 is his HSA account so we didn’t have t scramble to come up with that.

Once the dentist was done and with my face still incredibly numb, Luke and I went to a near by Vintage Stock. Mostly just to kill time, but also to see if the had anything cool. We didn’t find anything particularly interesting, so we left and went to Walmart to get some Halo Top for me since eating after a root canal is hard. πŸ˜‚ Then after that we went back home.

Awkward mirror selfie in Vintage Stock’s bathroom. I couldn’t feel half of my face. πŸ˜‚

When we got home we just kinda hung out for a while. I’m still binge watching Law and Order: SVU so that’s what I spent the afternoon doing. I was told to take it easy for the rest of the day so I didn’t run. I figured that was fair considering I did have drilling done on my mouth. πŸ˜‚That and I was just tired. But I also think that was root canal related. They really aren’t too bad, but it’s still kinda stressful on the body! Also, eating when your mouth is still kinda numb is hard. πŸ˜‚ That didn’t stop me from eating my Halo Top though. πŸ˜‰

Around 4 pm Luke got an email from his work. They currently can’t have people in the building because of the fire this morning so the whole building and several other offices here in Kansas who run on the same network are just off of work until further notice. They have to repair the damages, clear out the ventilation system, find what started the fire, and whatnot, so the building has to be closed.

Luckily no one got hurt in the fire and everyone is still getting paid, thank goodness!! They’re all kinda just on unplanned vacations (without having to use vacation time πŸ˜‰) until further notice. Sure that’s probably going to cut into the company’s profits, but this is a multi billion dollar company, so they really aren’t going to be hurting too badly. Plus none of that really affects Luke and all, so he’s just kinda stoked that he’s getting a little vacation!

So yeah. That was our day! πŸ˜‚ It was definitely an interesting one!

Happy Monday everyone! I sure hope you didn’t have to get a root canal or have your office building catch on fire today! πŸ˜‰

Treadmill Running

I started out my running journey almost 5 years ago on a treadmill in my old apartment complexes fitness center, but once I started running on the paved trail that was near by, I ditched the treadmill and never looked back. In that time I’ve forgotten a little something about myself; I’m super duper awkward on treadmills!

So just going back a little bit, last weekend Luke and I went to Illinois for one of his brother’s high school graduation party. While we were there we picked up my sister’s old treadmill from her boyfriend’s mom’s house. My sister (actually, both of my sister’s, my brother, and both of my parents) live in Colorado now. It would have been more expensive for her to rent a truck and drive all the way to Illinois just to get it, and since she knew Luke just recently bought a new truck, she told me that we could take it. And that, my friends, is how I ended up getting a $600 treadmill for free. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me!! πŸ˜‰

img_2642

Originally I wasn’t going to take the treadmill. “I’m a road runner!” I told myself, “I pride myself in running in ALL OF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS!” And that is true, but in the summer months I always end up runningΒ a lot less and basically not doing any kind of speed work, because I do not do well in the heat. It absolutely drains me and my running kinda suffers because of it. So after thinking about that for a while, I figured why not take the treadmill? I could probably utilize it in a way to supplement my outdoor running and actually do some speed work in the summer! So at this point I’m pretty stoked to have it. Even though it’s kinda huge and taking up a lot of room in my living room haha.

Anyway, back to my original point. I run weird on treadmills. And I’ve kinda forgotten about that little fact until now. Once I had started running on that trail back in the apartment days I realized how natural treadmill running felt to me. I also realized how quickly I tore shoes up while running on a treadmill. Once I started running on asphalt my shoes started lasting me a lot longer. Probably because running on a revolving belt is just naturally going to wear them out faster, but also because my running gait is just super awkward while moving on said revolving belt and I’ve never been able to get into a good rhythm on one. And honestly I probably never will.

So I’ve only run twice since Sunday when we brought this thing home. Both runs were on the treadmill and both runs felt super weird. Now, I know I’m slow, but a little simple math told me that my Garmin wasn’t reading correctly with that first run on Monday and that I was going somewhere around a 13:30 pace and not a 15 minute per mile pace. Haha that was a huge relief! Because that first run felt HARD! So I’m not actually sure about the distance on this run. I’m not all that worried about it though, I figured out how to calibrate my watch to the treadmill and it was pretty close to what the treadmill was reading on Tuesday. Still not sure how accurate the treadmill is, but I’m just gonna roll with it haha.

img_2651

First treadmill run in a very long time on Monday!

You might notice in the photo above that I’m not wearing any shoes. Haha remember how I said I tear shoes up while running on the treadmill? Yeah, I don’t want to be doing that right now. You see, I’m down to one pair of running shoes (I just had to retire my current pair of Nike Free’s. It was a sad day), my Nike Pegasus and they’re getting close to being halfway through their running life with me. I can usually get about 300 ish miles out of a pair of shoes before they have to retire to my “everyday” shoes, and then I can usually wear them for about another year before I have to get rid of them. It’s a good system for me. πŸ™‚ But anyway, since I’m down to one pair of running shoes and currently not able to spend $100 to get a new pair (that whole trip to Illinois, our up coming family vacation that Luke’s mom has been planning, and having to pay bills, buy food, and other adult stuff like that is really slowing the whole getting new running shoes thing down). So in order to preserve my current pair of shoes I’ve done both of my runs this week in my socks!!

(Just a little side note here guys, I have a ko-fi account now! You might have notice the “Buy Me A Coffee” button on the side of my blog. I actually spent a lot of time thinking about whether or not I should join ko-fi, because I didn’t want anyone to think I was like, begging for money or anything. And I’m totally not! But you know, I do work pretty hard on this blog and my other social media accounts. I put myself out there and share my story in some pretty up close and personal ways. So I figured why not give people a way to show me some love and support in the small way of “buying me a coffee” if they want to. And if they don’t, no big deal and no hard feelings. It’s not like I started this blog to make boatloads of money. Although I’d be lying if I said that wouldn’t be nice. πŸ˜‰ But anyway, just thought I’d throw that out there really quick. I probably wont be bringing it up much though.)

Buy Me a Coffee at ko-fi.com

So anyway, in order to preserve the life of my remaining pair of running shoes, I’ve done both of my runs this week in just my socks. I figured it wouldn’t be that big of a deal though. As kids my sisters and I would run around the farm barefoot all the time. We’d walk around corn fields, cow pastures, the woods, our gravel driveway, and even ride our bikes all sans shoes, and it was great!! And it’s not like I wear shoes all the time anyway. Nowadays I always walk around my house in just socks. I ride my stationary bike barefoot, tend to my garden barefoot or in flip flops or rubber boots (so, shoes that basically have no support whatsoever). I’ve even played tennis and helped Luke practice for softball either barefoot or in socks. Haha we’ve actually discoverd that I pitch better without shoes on! Although that’s probably just a weird coincidence, but now whenever we got out to the softball fields and there’s no home plate out we just use my shoes because I’m a-ok with not wearing them haha.

img_2452

P.S. I’m totally in love with my Zensah watermelon compression socks!!Β πŸ‰πŸ˜„[/[/[/[/[/[/

I’ve also got an affinity for minimalist shoes. Hence why I love Nike Free’s so much. Don’t get me wrong, I love myΒ Pegasus. They’re a great training shoe and a good way for me to switch things up a little bit, but I wont do races in them haha. Compared to the Free’s they just feel heavy to me. I don’t even like wearing them on long runs, but I do because I know it’s good for me. But anyway, since I’m quite often barefoot, or wearing socks or minimalist shoes, I figured my feet, ankles, and legs would be strong enough to do my treadmill running in just my socks. But I think I might have overdone it a bit yesterday. I ran 4 miles on the treadmill, very awkwardly because like I said, treadmill running is weird and hard, in just my socks. I’m not hurt or injured or anything, but my calves are just super tight today! My guess is from running super duper awkwardly on the treadmill two days in a row and now wearing shoes probably didn’t help.

img_2684

Haha yesterday I actually spent those 4 miles watching part of a full Green Day concert on YouTube. I have no idea how people can go to a concert and record the whole thing! I’m too busy singing and dancing to even consider taking decent pictures, let along record a video! But I am incredibly grateful to the people who do! Haha yesterday’s 4 miles flew by thanks to whoever recorded this concert! I find treadmill running to be incredibly boring, so I never thought I’d say treadmill miles just flew by! So that was really nice!! But like I said, I woke up with super tight calves today, so I figured I needed to rest them and stretch them, so that’s been my goal for today.

I actually wanted to run outside today. The weather has been a little less hot thanks to some rain we have in the forecast, so it would have been nice to take it outside today. But my tight calves are making my heels hurt a little bit. I’ve dealt with plantarΒ fasciitis before (and ironically I got it from running in a pair of shoes that were waaay to supportive for my feet. I have very high arches and I’ve found the less support a shoe has, the better!) and I definitely didn’t want to go through all of that again, so I figured taking the day off and getting my calves to loosen up a bit was obviously the better option. So I spent about 30 minutes on my yoga mat doing just that. I still felt a little tight, but a lot better after that!

img_2690

So I’m hoping tomorrow they feel even better and I’ll be able to run on them. The weather forecast is saying that it’s supposed to be in the 60’s and cloudy with a chance of rain, so I’d like to run in that before it starts getting hot and gross again!! But once it does, at least I’ll have the treadmill as an option. πŸ™‚

I’ve also got another dentist appointment tomorrow to get my permanent crowns put on. So hopefully that all goes well. But that is all I’ve got for now, so happy hump day everyone!

~Ashley

Thursday Things

Woke up early this morning, briefly considered doing my run, very quickly decided β€œfuck that”, and went back to bed. Haha I was just really tired. πŸ˜‰ But I only had an easy 2 mile run planned for today, so I figured skipping it wasn’t a big deal.

Once I did finally get up I ended up spend way too much time scrolling through all of my social media. Jeez that is a really good way to lose a good chunk of your time haha. But I did get to see a few of the cows that are going to be hanging out at the Running With The Cows starting line area and I was pretty excited about that! How adorable are these two?!? I’m very excited about seeing them on Saturday!

img_1572

Obviously this isn’t my photo. I screen shot it from the Running With The Cows facebook page.Β

Luckily I didn’t end up wasting my whole day on the social media. That’s crazy easy to do haha! Eventually I got up and got some stuff done. I cleaned the ferret cage while they ran around for a while, and then did some stuff in the garden. Mostly just watered it, but I pulled out a few weeds too haha. Everything out there is looking pretty good right now though! Before too long we’re gonna have a bunch of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, eggs, and all sorts of other good stuff. πŸ™‚ I’m very excited about that!

After the ferret cage was clean and the garden was watered I took Lily and then Dean for a walk, worked on a few blog posts, started some laundry and general tiding of the house, and then I sat down with another cup of coffee and the book Cujo. Can you believe this is legit the first time I’ve read Cujo?!? Stephen King is my all time favorite Author and he has been since I was in like, 7th grade. The first ever β€œgrown up” book I read was The Stand. 2 whole shelves on my huge book shelf are dedicated to and are absolutely overflowing with his books. But still, this is the first time I’ve read Cujo haha. But I mean, I’ve seen the movie about 8 billion times so I always reached for anther one of his books whenever I would go to get one. I’ve also never read Carrie or Pet Sematary. Pretty crazy, right? But again, I’ve seen both of those movies about 8 billion times as well. But since I’ve finally gotten around to Cujo I’ll eventually get to Carrie and Pet Sematary as well. I mean, the book is always better than the movie anyway. πŸ˜‰

Weekly Recap: March 12th-18th, 2018

I’ve been back home for a two weeks now, the 5k that my dad andΒ  I did together was a success, and now I’m pretty much back to scheduled programming. I’m training for my next 5k in May, making plans for my garden, farming chickens, and handling 3 border collies. So you know, same old same old. πŸ™‚

Monday:

  • Rest Day

I usually try to take my rest days on Sunday, but since the Whiskey run was on Sunday I just moved that to Monday. So Monday was pretty uneventful, but my spiffy new Zensah compression sleeves got here, so there’s that. πŸ™‚

img_0314-1.jpg

Tuesday:

  • Easy 2 miles
  • 15 minutes of strength work

Nothing exciting or fancy on Tuesday. Just doing thing that need to be done.

img_0349

Wednesday:Β

  • 10 minute warm up on the stationary bike
  • 4 miles

Running is hard…

Seriously did not want to do this run on Wednesday, but I got out there and muddled through it. Barely haha. But I did it and that’s all that matters, right?

img_0366-1

Thursday:

  • Rest Day

Nope nope nope nope nope nope nope.

I woke up feeling like shit on Thursday. I was crazy sore, tired, and just gross feeling all around, even though I really hadn’t done anything all week to warrant feeling that way. So I skipped my run and opted to walk the dogs and do some yoga instead. I’m still not entirely sure if I should have just muddled through another run or not. But I mostly think my body was trying to tell me something and that I might have avoided an illness or injury by opting out of Thursday’s run. Either way though, it didn’t get done.

But on the bright side, my Honey Stinger order came on Thursday and I got to try out one of the new Almond butter/dark chocolate snack bars! They. Are. Amazing!! πŸ™‚

Friday:

  • Walked around the dog park

Well, and spent the whole day running around like crazy trying to get some stuff done haha! Luke’s Friday’s off (he gets a Friday off of work every other week), tend to be like that though. The day started off super rainy and chilly so we weren’t actually sure if we were gonna be able to get the dogs to the park, which was something we desperately wanted to do! So we ended up going to several stores in the mall, and the to Scheels looking for new everyday shoes for Luke and running tights for me. Luke and I are kind of die hard Nike people haha, but we’ve both been a bit disappointed by them lately. They’ve seemed to have done away with Nike Shox (Luke loves them for some reason. I think they’re super uncomfortable and not at all sad to see them go haha). Eventually he did find another pair of Nike’s that he likes though. My problem is the seem to have done away with my favorite kind of running tights. I’ve been looking everywhere for them or something similar for going on 2 years now, but nope, it’s looking like they’ve done away with them as well. Sad face… After being super disappointed at several stores, Luke told me that maybe I should try something new, so I ended up ordering a pair of Oiselle pocket jogger capris. This is the first Oiselle item I’ve ever purchased, so I’m pretty excited for them to get here and see what they’re all about. Plus I’ve always said running gear never has enough pockets, so these capris should solve that issue for me! So. Many. Pockets!!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Anyway, after our shopping adventures it had gotten a lot nicer outside and the rain had mostly dissipated, so we took the dogs to the park, did some errands, then had my brother-in-law, his girlfriend, and her 2 kids over for dinner. Haha it was a very busy/eventful day.

Saturday:

  • 30 minutes of yoga

Oh man, my stomach was not happy with me on Saturday. I’m not entirely sure what that was all about, but it probably had something to do with the fact that I have not been eating very well lately. Obviously I need to work on that. So I kept it super easy and did 30 minutes of restorative yoga on Saturday. That ended up feeling really nice. πŸ™‚

img_0434

Sunday:

  • 20 minutes on the stationary bike

Ugh, Lily and Finn kept Luke and I up all freaking night…That was a whole thing. I had planned on getting in a few miles at the very least today, but after last night’s fiasco that wasn’t going to happen. I always read/hear that after a shitty night of sleep you should go run because it’ll make you feel better, but try telling that to tired, cranky Ashley. Nope, not worth it in her opinion.

So, dyed my hair, cleaned the house, and spent a little bit of time on the stationary bike instead.

So yeah. This was a weird week. Sometimes running kinda gets in the way of life but this week life kinda got in the way of running. It happens and I’m not too worried about it. I have a feeling that next week will be better. πŸ™‚

I hope everyone has had a good weekend!

~Ashley

Weekly Recap: January 29th – February 4th, 2018

So I may or may not have gotten a little bit distraced last night and didn’t get around to posting my weekly recap. Oops.

But in all fairness, I think most American’s were a little bit distracted last night by the big football thing. Haha not gonna lie, I’m not at all interested. I just watch for the commercials. πŸ˜‰

Anyways, lets get on with it then!

Monday:

  • 4 miles

Kinda really didn’t want to do this run on Monday. It was another windy day and it wasn’t as fun as last Friday’s super windy run. I got it done though!! πŸ™‚

img_9336

Tuesday:Β

  • 35 minutes on the stationary bike
  • 15 minutes of strength work

Bleh. Spending time on the stationary bike is definitely not my idea of fun. But it’s probably good that I do. And obviously strenght training is always a good idea! Haha I definitely need to spend more time doing it, but a little something is better than nothing! πŸ˜‰

img_9350

Wednesday:Β

  • 2 miles

My legs and abs were feeling kinda sore on Wednesday. So obviously that means my tiny bit of strength work did something on Tuesday! πŸ˜‰ Haha sore muscles sure didn’t stop me from turning what was supposed to be an easy run into something that might have been just a little too hard. For the most part I kept the first mile pretty easy, but then my music app crashed, I turned on American Idiot, Jesus of Suburbia came on, and I ran harder for most of the second mile, and ended up negative splitting for the first time in a while (at least I think it’s been a while. Honestly I really haven’t been paying attention to that haha. Oh man, this turned out to be a really fun run. πŸ™‚

img_9381

Thursday:

  • 35 minutes on the stationary bike
  • 15 minutes of yoga

Hahah was not feeling it on Thursday. I mostly just couldn’t focus on one tasks for any amount of time. Meh, whatever. I still got a little bit done. πŸ™‚

Friday:

  • Grocery day
  • Took the dogs to the park

I couldn’t in my right mind call Friday a rest day haha. Not with all of the running around and shopping that Luke and I did. Not gonna lie though, grocery shopping day is my favorite day haha. Who doesn’t like obtaining food?!? After that adventure was done and over with we took the dogs to the off leash dog park and let them run around for a while. They definitely enjoyed that. Anyway, Friday was more like a day off running than an actual rest day. It was fun though. πŸ™‚

Saturday:

  • 7 miles

I think this run just might have been the longest I’ve done since I ran my last half marathon back in November. Oops… Surprisingly enough though, it actually went pretty well!! I was initially having fun, fueled by Honey Stinger, compressed by Zensah, of course. πŸ˜‰ But then it started getting really windy, and I’m not a fan of the wind haha. Especially the really strong gusts that can make breathing difficult. So I ended up with 7 miles instead of the 8 I had originally planned on doing, but I’m not to worried about that. It was still a pretty good run.

Sunday:

  • Rest Day

I was feeling kinda bleh on Sunday. That had me a little bit worried for a little bit, because I’ve heard about some kind of awful stomach bug that’s going around and I DO NOT WANT IT!!!! Apparently it involves lots of fluids coming out of both ends. Obviously neither of those things would be fun, but I hate vomiting more than pretty much anything I can think of. It’s the absolute worst in my opinion and I will make myself even more miserable by fighting it for as long as I can. Yeah, that usually doesn’t go well for me, but I hate puking… Luckily neither Luke or myself have gotten that bug though, so hopefully we’ll remain healthy until that thing blows over.

Anyway, Sunday was also the “big game” day football thing. Not gonna lie. I hate football. I don’t understand football. I think football is boring. Haha this tweet sums up my night quite nicely though. And Michelob Ultra replied which was kinda neat haha.

Also, probably an unpopular opinion, but I thought the Justin Timberlake halftime show was terrible… Like, what the hell happened to music?!? Why does it have to be some big, grand, crazy performance instead of a musician just preforming their songs… I don’t know man, I don’t get it. And what was with the Prince thing?!? I mean, didn’t at one point Prince say that was exactly the kind of thing he’d never want to happen?? So I feel like that was kinda disrespectful. Whatever…

Plus I don’t think Justin Timberlake that great. Good grief I feel like I must be getting old, complaining about the popular music that kids these days are listening to. But in all fairness, he’s like 10 years older than me, and I very clearly remember theΒ NSYNC/Back Street Boy rivalry thing. I was always more of a Backstreet Boys girl. Haha that’s a lie, I was more of a just getting into rock music, but mostly into Disney movie sound tracks and lots of country music type of girl. But when asked to pick a side, it was always the Backstreet Boys. πŸ˜‰ But anyway, I’m getting waaaaay off topic here. I’ve got nothing else relevant to say about my week. So I’ll end there. With my rant about music haha.

Happy Monday!! I hope you’re not too hungover/stuffed full of chips and dip/disappointed with the outcome of the game this morning! πŸ˜‰
