Friday Fives: 5 Things I’m Currently Super Into

1. Pokemon Go

I’m super obsessed with this app. I mean, it’s basically made all of my childhood dreams come true. I get to venture out into the world on my very own Pokemon adventure. Collecting them and battling gyms as I go. It’s pretty awesome!

2. Coffee

Once upon a time, I was addicted to caffeine (that was waaay back when I was in high school). I got my caffeine fix from sodas and energy drinks and gross stuff like that. But I broke that habit in 2012.

I think I’m hooked on it again though. With all this waking up early that running requires I’ve been heavily relying on coffee to get me going. Add some soy milk and honey. Perfect! πŸ™‚

Haha at least coffee is better than soda.

3. Death of a BachelorΒ

I am absolutely in love with every song on this album! I’ve always liked Panic! At the Disco, but I’ve never been this super into them until now.

4. Blueberries

5. Avatar: The Legened of KorraΒ

I’m just now getting around to watching this. I LOVED the first Avatar series so I figured I needed to watch this one too. So far, this one is a lot more heart wrenching than the first one, and I love it!

The Adventures of Dog Sitting: Day 4

Niko woke up at 4:30 this morning. Awesome…If I had the proper equipment I probably would have gone for a run, but I don’t. I’m totally lacking in reflective gear and any sort of lights.

So instead I let Niko outside for a while and then we both went back to bed haha.

That actually ended up working really well for me! I started my run around 8:15ish, which is crazy late for me in the summer! I decided to do 3 miles of hills. Probably not the best idea (or maybe it was!) since my legs are CRAZY sore from yesterday’s workout.

I made the mistake of running past the house a few times. I left Niko and Dean in the backyard and every time I did Niko was just crying by the fence. I think he has separation anxiety…

But anyway, I actually ended up negative splitting this run! Which is crazy considering it was hot, hilly, and I was sore, but I’m super proud of myself! πŸ˜„

I didn’t get to take the dogs on their morning walks. We had some thunderstorms roll in and it ended up raining for a while. Plus Lily is terrified of thunder, so…

Everyone’s been getting along though. I think Niko and Dean have actually become friends!! Haha at 8 months old Niko already makes Dean look itty bitty.

Anyway, after Luke got home and ate dinner we went on another Pokemon adventure. And of course we brought Niko. I mean, we want him to sleep tonight. πŸ˜‰

We walked around for about an hour and a half and I took over two gyms!!! I lost the first one right away, but as of right now I’m still in the second one. 😬😬😬

So I had a great day, and I hope you did too.

The Adventures of Dog Sitting: Day 2

Oh man, I did not want to get up this morning! But Niko had to go pee at 6 am, so I let him out for an hour and went back to bed. At 7 he started barking at the door so I let him back in and we both went back to bed for 40 minutes haha. At least he slept through the night though. I probably would have died if we had a repeat of yesterday.

Anyway, I did finally get up and ate a quick snack with a cup of coffee, and then I hit the road for a short easy run! I probably would have gone a little longer if I would have gotten up earlier and out before it was too hot. Plus I had Odin, Dean, and Niko in the backyard and it was getting to hot out for them as well.

My run went pretty well, considering it was 80 degrees and sunny out haha. My foot was a tad bit sore initially, but after a few minutes it started feeling better. πŸ˜„

After my run I drank some water, swapped my shoes, and started walking dogs. I took Niko out first because I wanted him nice and worn out before I tried shoving him into the crate. That totally worked too! Haha I just didn’t want him wandering freely around the house while I wasn’t there. Then I took Lily out and we went quite a bit further, and she got treats from the really nice Meals on Wheels guy who drives around our town.

I wanted to take Dean out too, but I was getting too hot and tired, and I needed a snack. So, I made the best thing in the world! It was a banana with peanut butter, chocolate, and a marshmallow, microwaved for 30 seconds so it all melted. It. Was. AMAZING!!

Our afternoon was pretty uneventful. I think Niko is still kinda worn out from yesterday, because he did a lot of sleeping haha. But it’s good that things were uneventful, that means everyone was getting along and no one was causing trouble.

Around 8 pm we took Niko out for another hour long walk while Luke and I looked for more Pokemon. Haha we ended up getting into a guy we just met’s truck and driving to another part of town just to battle a gym together. I guess you kinda forget all of the stranger danger rules when it comes to Pokemon. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, everyone else is asleep and I should be too, so good night! πŸ˜„

The Adventures of Dog Sitting: Day 1

My mom, dad, and sister left at 2 o’clock this morning, so Luke, the dogs, and I didn’t get to sleep until around 2:40.

We were kinda worried how my parents’ dog, Niko, would react, as they’ve never left him anywhere before. Luckily he didn’t whiny or cry or anything like that, he just went to sleep, which was awesome!

What wasn’t awesome, was being woken up at 5:18 in the morning by an 8 month old, 90 pound, Caucasian Shepherd, who crawled into bed and wanted to play.πŸ˜‘

Well I’m not about that life. I get that he’s still a baby and that he’s going through a rebellious phase (most dogs do), but we aren’t going to play that early in the morning, just because he wants to. Especially after getting hardly any sleep.

So I put his fluffy ass to work. Which in this case means that I made him do his tricks, took him for a short walk where I called the shots, not him (although he really freaking tried), then made him sit and wait at the door before we went inside.

I guess it was a successful walk/training session, as he ate his treat then promptly passed out on the floor.

Unfortunately for me, once I’m up, I’m freaking up, and usually can’t fall back asleep. So I made a pisston of coffee and some eggs and toast, and then set to work cleaning the kitchen. Good times…

(I just want to take a second to thank my sister for starting me up on the word “piss” again. I don’t know what it as about that word but she says it all the time, in pretty much every variation possible, and for some reason it’s super contagious).

Luke, that lucky asshole, slept until 8:30. By then Niko and I had played more tug of war than I’d ever wanted to play in my whole life, went on two short walks, and I was covered head to toe in dog slobber.

Once Luke got up we had to run a few errands, but after that we finally got to take the monsters to the dog park! We were a bit apprehensive about brining Niko along, but he actually behaved himself quite well and they all managed to wear themselves out. πŸ˜„

After our dog park trip we dropped Lily and Niko off at home and headed to Home Depot to pick up a few things. Dean is very popular at our local Home Depot so he always enjoys going with us.

Once we got home I showered because I was covered in even more dog drool, and then made a s’more on the pizzazz which was pretty exciting! Then I napped for a couple of hours. Hahaha remember I only got 2 hours and 40 minutes of sleep last night. πŸ˜‰ Then Luke and I played Pokemon for a while.

Then at 8 pm we decided to wear Niko out by taking him for a long ass walk, because we want him to actually sleep tonight.

We spent an hour walking around the neighborhood looking for Pokemon. We got stopped by quite a few people asking about Niko and we ran into a shit ton of people also looking for Pokemon. Haha we kept running into this one group of people and we ended up helping each other out a few times. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

I’d say today actually went really well, all things considered. I’m REALLY hoping Niko is quite and sleeps all night. I plan on getting up early to run tomorrow and I don’t want to do that on only a few hours of sleep. That’s never fun…

Good night (or morning, or afternoon, depending on when you’re reading this)! 😊

My wake up call this morning involved a 35 pound border collie jumping directly onto my bladder at 6:30. That was fun. (I know you’re going to read this at some point, so thanks for that Luke, that was real cool. πŸ˜‘)

I do need to start getting up earlier though, since it’s going to start being hot and gross soon. Luckily it wasn’t all that hot this morning, but it was quite humid thanks to it raining. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m excited about the rain, our garden needs it, I just don’t do so well in humidity thanks to asthma.

That plus a few other factors made my run a bit difficult, the first mile was especially hard (isn’t it always?) but it got better after that. I’m starting to increase my long runs again, so I did 5 miles instead of 4. That’s not exactly a big change, but since I’m not training for anything at the moment I have the time to take things slow. Plus I really want to feel like I’ve “conquered” each distance before I move up. Especially since I’ve been injured a lot lately.

I tried honey stinger waffles for the first time today and I’m pretty sure they’re my new favorite thing.

I think I’m doing pretty well injury-wise at this point. My shin has felt a lot better lately. My hip was giving me a bit of trouble a few days ago, but aside from being a bit stiff it feels a lot better now. Really the only thing I have to complain about are the sick nasty blisters I got today. I knew I should have put vasaline on my feet. I always get gross blisters when my feet get wet (no amount of moisture wicking socks and properly fitting shoes have helped. If my feet get wet or too sweaty, I get blisters).

I feel like this picture doesn’t do them justice. Also, im really sorry I just posted a picture of my gross foot. You deserve better than that…

Anyway, since it rained this morning we definitely won’t be taking the dogs to the dog park. It’s waaaay too muddy for that…We’ll probably just end up playing Pokemon for the rest of the day and I’m totally ok with that! I’ve got some hardcore training to do!!

We ‘re very serious about pokemon here in the Dailey household. πŸ˜‰

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
