Weekly Recap: March 13th-19th, 2017

Monday:

  • 1 hour on the stationary bike

So, my stationary bike is broken. It won’t turn on at all. That’s kinda why I haven’t been using it lately. Not knowing how far I’ve gone on it has been annoying, but I’ve gotten over it. So I pedaled away on it for an hour on Monday, while watching part of Green Day’s concert in Phoenix on YouTube. πŸ™‚

Tuesday:

  • 3 easy miles

I started a new training plan this week! It’s just one of those free plans on Garmin Connect, but I’ve used the free Garmin plans to train for both of my half marathons and it went well both times, so I figured I’d try out the “improved your fitness” plan. Technically the plan started on Monday with a rest day (but I cross trained instead because I took a rest day on Sunday), but the first workout was on Tuesday.

The plan called for 35 minutes of easy running, which I did.l, but once I finished that I was super close to 3 miles, so I obviously had to keep going and hit the 3 mile mark. Plus it was snowing, so this run was just a whole bunch of fun!

Wednesday:

  • Intervals,
  • 45 minute Nike Training Club workout

Oh man, those intervals were tough! They were two minutes longer than I’ve been doing (which is why I started this training plan, I wanted to switch things up a bit), but I got them done and then a Nike Training Club workout.

Thursday:

  • Easy 30 minutes

Nothing fancy or exciting on Thursday. That’s ok though, easy days are still fun. πŸ˜„

Friday:

  • Rest Day

Didn’t runbon Friday, but I did get a spiffy new pair of shoes! So that’s pretty exciting! πŸ˜„

Saturday:

  • 45 easy minutes

I didn’t sleep well the night before, so I really didn’t want to do this run. But since I had a new pair of shoes to break in I got it done. πŸ˜€

Sunday:

  • Rest Day

Well, I was supposed to run 8 miles today, but I’ve been too busy chasing around our new puppy. Totally worth it!! We’ve had a lot of fun today.

Weekly Recap: March 6th-12th, 2017

Monday:

  • 3 miles
  • 30 minute Nike Training Club workout

Well taking those few days off was a great idea! I felt pretty awesome on Monday!! Got a nice 3 miler done, followed by a Nike Training Club workout. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of those. It was pretty tough, but a lot of fun! πŸ™‚ Oh man, this was a great way to start off the week.

Tuesday:

  • Easy 2 miles

I guess that Nike Training Club workout was a lot harder than I though! I woke up super sore in my legs, abs, and triceps. So I did a super easy run to loosen up a bit, and then a tiny bit of stretching later in the day.

Wednesday:

  • Rest Day

Still feeling a little sore/tired from Monday’s workout. Mostly in the leg area, so I figured it was a good day for a rest day. πŸ™‚

Thursday:

  • 10 miles
  • 30 minutes of yoga

Decided to switch things up a bit and do my long run on Thursday instead of over the weekend like I normally would have. It went pretty well, so I’d say that was a good idea! πŸ™‚

Friday:

  • 30 minute Nike Training Club workout

Nothing too exciting for Friday. Just a little bit of cross training. My legs were actually feeling really really good! I was really surprised, I was sure they were going to be sore after my 10 miler the day before.

Saturday:

  • 4 easy miles

I guess the fatigue from my 10 miler finally hit me on Saturday. My legs still felt really good, but oh man was I tired! Still managed to get in 4 miles though.

Sunday:

  • 30 minutes of yoga

My legs still feel a little bit tired, but it’s not too bad. I probably could have run today but I figured a rest day and easy yoga was a good idea anyway. Haha I swear, my house is always 8 million times more clean in rest days. I spent a lot of time cleaning. πŸ™‚

The Adventures of Half Marathon Training: Day 16

We got out gust little hint of Fall yesterday! It was cool enough for us to turn off the air conditioning and open the windows, and as an added bonus it was kinda rainy all day and that carried over to this morning. πŸ˜„

We’ve still got about 2 months before it actually starts getting cold, but I’ll take some high 60’s for now. Although I absolutely cannot wait for the colder weather! October-January is the absolute best part of the year, in my opinion.

Anyway, my training schedule called for a couple of easy miles today, so that’s what I did. Kinda. I may have gotten a little over zealous going up a few hills, but the weather has got me in such a great mood that I just couldn’t help myself. I’m probably going to regret that during tomorrow’s interval session, but right now I don’t really care.

After my run I went into full on farmer mode. I moved my livestock, fed them, then cleaned out their living quarters (I moved the bunnies outside since it’s stopped raining and cleaned out the dog crate they’ve been staying in πŸ˜‰). Then I spent some time working in the garden.

Unfortunately the damn squash bugs killed ALL of my zucchini plants. Sad face. But the cucumbers and tomatoes are producing like crazy, we have a few watermelons growing on the vine, the carrots are looking good, and my banana peppers look like they’re covered in Christmas ornaments because of all of the peppers. So I suppose some lost zucchini isn’t that bad in the grand scheme of things.

After pretending my backyard is a farm field, I put on my housewife hat and started getting the house back in shipshape. I had the Olympic Games going on the TV in the background and I found Bubbles very intently watching water polo. I guess she’s rooting for team USA.

While still watching the olympics, I got my strength training done. Tried another Nike Training Club workout, this one was tough but still lots of fun! Aaaaand then I needed another shower. Haha I got a little bit sweaty.

So I feel like I’ve had a super productive day!

How was your Monday?

Have you been keeping up with the Olympics?

What even are you looking forward to the most?Β

Weekly Recap: July 11th-17th, 2016

Monday:

  • 20 easy minutes

This was my first run back after taking a week of for my foot. It went pretty well! At first my foot felt a little sore, but after a few minutes it was fine. πŸ™‚ I probably would have stayed out longer, but I had 3 dogs in the backyard and it was 80 degrees out, so I didn’t want to be out to long. I think 20 minutes was sufficient though.

Tuesday:

  • 30 minute NTC work out

Ugh, I was dragging ass on Tuesday. Got s strength work out in though, so at least I accomplished that.

Wednesday:

  • 3 hilly miles
  • Yoga for Runners: Cool Down

Intentionally sought out hills on Wednesday. Not my brightest idea though. My legs and butt were CRAZY sore from Tuesday’s workout.

When I started this run I felt like I could barely move my legs, by mile two I felt great, and mile 3 was pretty good too, but I was getting hot and tired at that point. I ended up negative splitting which was really cool!

But about an hour after I finished I felt like I could barley walk and pretty much had to hobble around for the rest of the day. Like I said, not my brightest idea. I’m still super stoked that I managed to hit negative splits though. πŸ˜„

Thursday:

  • 30 minutes (7.6 miles) on the stationary bike

Stationary bike, lots of walking, and lots of food on Thursday. 😁

img_7616

Friday:

  • Rest day

Saturday:

  • Rest day

Wanted to do a long run on Saturday, but my mom and dad were here and it just didn’t happen. I still got a lot of walking done though. πŸ˜„

Sunday:

  • 4 miles

My heat sensitive ass though I could get an 8 mile run done, starting at 8 in the morning when it was already sunny and 75 degrees. Obviously that didn’t work out for me. I wanted to run again in the evening, but that was a no go as well. It’s just too hot…oh well, at least I got 4 miles in this morning.

Total weekly mileage: 8.49

I’m actually not to upset about that. I start half marathon training soon, so I’m thinking a few easy weeks are probably a good idea. πŸ˜„

But just because I didn’t do much running , doesn’t mean I didn’t do much moving. Thanks to Pokemon Go, Luke and I have done A LOT of wandering around the neighborhood. I think it’s pretty safe to say that I’m going to win Garmin Connect’s 65k step challenge this week. As I type this, it’s only 4pm and we may go out Pokemon hunting again. 😁

How was your week?

Have you been playing Pokemon Go?

Do you participate in step challenges? They tend to make me super competitive hahaha.

The Adventures of Dog Sitting: Day 3

Woke up to thunderstorms and a crying puppy at 6 am. A crying puppy who promptly decided he didn’t want to go outside in the rain. I made him go anyway though. I haven’t had to clean up pee or poop yet and I’d like to keep it that way.

After he came back in we both went back to sleep until 8:40. Hahaha I guess we are both a little worn out today.

After we had woken up Niko, Dean, and Odin spent the rest of the morning playing in the backyard.

I, on the other hand, spent my morning cleaning (there’s mud and dog slobber everywhere 😩😩😩) and then I did a Nike Training Club work out. Man, these Nike workouts are kicking my ass, but in a good way! Not gonna lie though, today I skipped a lot of the moves, but I’m just so tired…and I really hate planks, but whatever. I still got 30 minutes of hard work done. 😬

Around lunch time I decided I should try to feed Niko again. My mom feeds him 3 times a day, but I’ve been trying to feed him twice a day in an effort to get him to eat at all. He’s been eating his canned food, his treats, and the little ice cream cups my mom insisted on getting him, but not his dry food.

So this time I tried giving him just dry food with no canned food in it, but he still wouldn’t eat it. And I can’t just leave it out because he’s super food aggressive and with start fighting the other dogs if there is food out, so I had to put it up. As I was doing that he found our dog food, which is nothing exiting right now, it’s just a bag of Ol’ Roy. But he decided he wanted that instead of his Blue Brand puppy food, so I gave him a big bowl and he ate it all. Dogs are weird…But at least I got him to eat.

We had another uneventful afternoon, but this evening Luke had 2 softball games, so poor Niko had to sit in the crate for almost 3 hours. Luckily he’s been doing well with the crate, which is kinda crazy considering he hasn’t been crate trained…until now that is. I should charge my parents for this haha. πŸ˜‰

Seriously though, I can’t wait for them to get back and take their dog. He’s nice, but gosh he’s a lot of work…
