Actually Back To Scheduled Programming

Welp, it’s my first full week home back from Florida, so now I’m going to be posting the usual weekly recap, what I ate Wednesday, Friday fives, etc. posts, since I didn’t do any of that last week, or the week before. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Plus I kinda like to keep things on a scheduled and it’s kinda been driving me crazy that I haven’t been doing that lately.

Anyways, happy Monday! I hope you have a good day and a great new week!! I’m definitely doing to be trying to make this week a good one! Half marathon training round 3 officially starts this Sunday and I’m a little nervous because I currently feel very unprepared but I’m also very excited!

At this point I haven’t officially registered for what will be my third half marathon, but hopefully I’ll be able to do that very soon. But the goal is to run the Longview Half marathon again! Haha I know at this point in my running career that this is the only half that I’ve done, and eventually I’m going to broaden my horizons and run a different half, but for now I’m sticking with this one. Mostly because so far, I’ve run every Longview Half except for the very first one, and years and years from now I still want to be able to say that. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But eventually I’m definitely going to start running more than one half marathon a year, but this is just not that year.

I’m thinking maybe next year I want to do the Running With The Cows half. I did the 5k last year and it was a lot of fun! It was a beautiful course, there were in fact cows, and there was a HUUUGE feast at the end of the race. But since I only did the 5k last year, I only had a bagel, banana, and chocolate milk, because after only 3.1 miles I didn’t feel like it would be right to eat any of the other goodness that they had there. Especially since it was probably around 9 in the morning at that point. Haha but I could totally justify partaking in the post race feast if I ย were to run the half. ๐Ÿ˜‰

But enough about future/past races. Lets talk about some current running stuff!

So, I ran one whole mile today! Yay! Haha but I’m currently doing this thing where I intentionally go out a little later in the day than I normally would, just so it’s a little hotter out and the sun is shining on me. And so far I can only make it a mile without feeling like I’m absolutely going to die under those conditions, but I feel like intentionally getting out in the conditions that are hard for me is going to make me more mentally (and maybe even physically) tough, and I’m hoping it helps me adjust to training in the heat a little better. Haha it still really sucks though. I’m so ready for fall to get here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

All summer long I’m just a sweaty, gross, unhappy mess.

But I’ve been getting it done! Like I said, whenever I purposely go out later I’ve only been getting a mile of running done (I’ve been making a point to run a mile out and then walk a mile home), so that’s what I did today. I got out the door at 9 am when it was about 82 degrees, 70% humidity, and sunny without a cloud in the sky. So basically my least favorite conditions ever! Haha but at least today the humidity wasn’t all that bad. That was my one happy thought throughout all 12 minutes and 17 seconds of my run. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m so very excited about how awesome both of my new tattoos look!ย

So yeah, I guess I’m trying to take my weaknesses and use them to make me better. Haha it’s not fun though…Especially since I’ve pretty much got a routine down where I run, walk the dogs, and then work in the garden, so when I run later in the morning sometimes the dogs don’t get walked (I don’t like walking them on the asphalt if it’s super hot and the suns been out for a while), and that means I have to be in the garden when it’s hotter and sunnier. That’s no fun. But the garden is definitely recovering from the 10 day’s it didn’t get cared for while we were in Florida! I’ve got two new watermelons growing out there, more cucumbers than I know what to do with, and a shit ton of green tomatoes, and a few tomatoes that are just starting to turn red/yellow. I’m very happy about all of that, but I am still mourning the loss of my zucchini plant…

But anyway, I do feel like I’ve gotten a little bit accomplished this morning so now I need to sit down in the air conditioning, drink something with electrolytes in in (I’m a super salty sweater), and recover from being in the heat. It’s kinda sad, but the heat really does take a lot out of me and it takes me a while to recover haha.

Anyway, I hope you have a great week!

Motivation Monday, Weekend Indulgences, Back To The Grind, And What I Ate In A Day

I guess it’s kinda late in the day to be sharing Motivation Monday stuff, but this is one of my all time favorite quotes and every time I see it I want to share it haha.

Being a very slow runner myself, I’ve often felt like I wasn’t a “real” runner. So I guess it’s just nice to be reminded that us slow runners work just as hard and are just as legit as the faster runners. And the fact that the mayor of running himself said that there are no fake runners means it has to be true! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, I’ve been enjoying this whole not calorie counting thing! Although I went a little crazy with food over the weekend. That’s not really surprising though, I tend to do that whenever I stop counting. I suppose after restricting what I eat for so long that’s bound to happen. Saturday wasn’t all that bad, but yesterday my brother in law made a bunch of food for the Royal Rumble payperview last night, and I went waaay overboard. Not a big deal though, I figured it was going to happen and I’ve reined it in today.

All of the heavy food I ate made my run this morning a little but uncomfortable. And I guess my huge breakfast didn’t help either haha. But French toast just sounded sooo good. I added some cocoa powder into the egg/milk mixture and topped it with banana slices and some table syrup. Mmmm it was amazing! And of course I needed a big cup of coffee to go with my breakfast. ๐Ÿ˜„

Yeah, after all of that I had to wait two hours (instead of my usual one) before I could run, and I still felt a little too full. So my stomach wasn’t exactly happy during my run, but everything else was! After upping my protein intake and taking two rest days in a row my legs felt soooo much better. I only did two easy miles though. But that’s what I had scheduled, and if Ifollow what I have planned for this week I should hit 25 miles. So as of right now I’m back to my usual schedule, but we’ll just have to wait and see how that goes. ๐Ÿ™‚

After my run, I did 30 minutes of yoga sculpt. Oh man, I never knew how intense yoga could really be! It was fun though, I really liked the instructor in the video and the music was really nice too. One of these days I’m going to have to go to an actual yoga class, but for now I’m quite happy with how my at home practice is going.

After my workout I took a quick shower and then made THE BEST lunch ever. It was a bowl of rice, some garbanzo beans, mashed avocado, ground beef seasoned with taco seasoning, and a little bit of sour cream. So. Freaking. Good. Oh and not pictured; two fun sized twix bars, because chocolate. ๐Ÿ™‚

Once I finished my delicious lunch, I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to reduce the amount of dog hair in my house. Since the weather’s been pretty warm Lily has already started shedding her winter coat. And my brother in law’s dog sheds two dogs worth of fur every day. It’s super annoying…I also did a bunch of other chores. Super boring stuff.  But the one thing I didn’t do today but totally should have was check the mail. Luke did when he got home though, and it turns out my Green Day tickets got here today!!!๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜„

Yeah, I’m just a little bit excited.

I definitely wasn’t expecting that! The website said that tickets usually don’t get printed until 21 days before the show. Not that I’m complaining or anything. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I got a little lazy for dinner. I didn’t feel like actually cooking, so I ended up having a peanut butter and banana sandwich, some whole wheat crackers, and a couple more fun sized Twix bars. Haha this is exactly why I don’t usually keep junk food in the house. I literally have no self control.

Anyway, I guess having a little bit of protein with each meal really helped, because I didn’t feel like doing the constant snacking that I tend to do in the evenings. I’m having a cup of tea right now and I’m totally good!

So I guess all in all, I kinda ate a lot of bread and sugar today. But I don’t think it’s a bad place to start, especially after all of the over indulging I did over the weekend.

I hope you have a great Monday and a fantastic rest of the week!

I’ve been having some trouble getting up and going in the morning as of late. I don’t know about you, but reading motivational quotes usually gives me the kick in the pants that I need to get up, do my run, then get on with my day.
