November Miles and Goal Check In

After a not-so-successful Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days, one recovery week, one 5k Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving, and slowly starting to work my way back into a normal running routine, Iโ€™m ending November with 57.95 miles! November has had its ups and downs running wise, but overall Iโ€™m happy with how Iโ€™m ending this month. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜

Alrighty! As for my other goals, well, I kinda took a little break from them! Since Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days was my big goal for November I figured I could use a little break from everything else. Especially since I took about a week off from running and have just been slowly working my way back into a regular running routine. It didn’t really make sense to me to be trying to hit 10,000 steps everyday or trying to journal about everything since I have kinda fallen out of that habit anyway.

But now that a new month is upon us and I’m pretty much back into my usual running routine (but in a much more laud back fashion ๐Ÿ˜‰) I’m getting right back into it!

I’ve also been thinking about what my goals for the upcoming year are going to look like. I’ve been thinking about that a lot since all of my racing for the year is done. I’m thinking my goals for 2019 are going to involve a lot of time goals. I didn’t really have any this year and I ended up not PRing my times for anything. That’s not a huge deal considering I’ve still made quite a bit of progress this year, just in a different way. But I sure have missed getting this shiny new PRs so that’s what I’m going to be focusing on! Among a few other things, of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰

October Miles and Goal Check In

Happy Halloween! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ–ค

Is anyone doing anything fun tonight?? Originally Luke and I were going to go trick or treating with my brother-in-law, his girlfriend, and her kids. But that kinda fell through, so now we’re just staying home and doing the same old same old. Bummer. But oh well…

Anyway, can you believe it’s the last day of October?!? How the heck are they’re only 2 more months left in 2018?!? I feel like I say this every year, but holy cow this year has flown by! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Actually that’s a lie. This summer kinda dragged on a bit, but other than that, the year has really flown by. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m pretty excited that November is almost here though! November is always a fun and busy month for me, and I have quite a bit to look forward to! For 4 years in a row now I’ve had a half marathon to run in November and obviously this year I have two!! Unfortunately my brother isn’t going to be able to make of for the second one, but my dad still is! Right now he’s planning on coming from Colorado to Kansas on Friday November 9th, so he’ll be able to go with us to my first half of Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days and spectate with Luke. Then after that we plan on going to the packet pick up for the half we’re running together the next day. ๐Ÿ˜Š November is also my birthday month. I’ll be turning 27 on the 15th! Probably not going to do anything fun for it, but it’s always exciting to celebrate another trip around the sun. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then of course Thanksgiving is November 22nd. We’ll be traveling to Colorado for that. Then the Christmas season officially begins and so does all of the fun stuff associated with that. ๐Ÿ˜ November is always a fun month.

Anyway, did onto my monthly miles and goal check in!

90.60 miles run in October! Nice!!! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ•ธ๐Ÿฆ‡โ˜ ๏ธ

Hahaha I’m too lazy to actually look it up on Garmin Connect, but I’m pretty sure this is the highest mileage month I’ve ever done. Neat!! And I did it all without getting injured! Even more neat!! Haha and pretty dark impressive considering I’m the most injury prone, klutzy person I know. ๐Ÿ˜‚ But that alone makes me feel like October was a very successful month and that I’ve accomplished quite a bit. Especially since running more miles was one of my biggest goals for the year. ๐Ÿ˜

As for my other goals, well, still not journaling. Oops. I’ve got nothing more to say about that really…

But I did do alright with getting my step goal in! I mean, I kinda got off to a rough start, but eventually got my shit together and started hitting it more often. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜

Anyway, I guess that just about covers my monthly mileage and goals. So I’ll leave you with a few more fall/Halloween type photos! I’ve kinda taken an excessive amount lately, but this is the first fall in several years that actually FELT like fall starting in October. It’s been wonderful!

August Miles and Goal Check In

Goodbye August and last full month of summer! Hello September! I’m very happy to see you! I sure hope you bring some cooler weather with you!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

August was pretty hot, but it was nowhere near as bad as the heatwave we had throughout most of July was, so I’m incredibly thankful for that! In fact, I was able to run almost double the mileage I hit in July. Haha it also probably helps that my half marathon training is also really starting to ramp up, but really I think the main reason I was able to do so many more miles in August is just because it wasn’t so darn hot.

I’m incredibly happy with that number! I feel like I’ve gotten a lot of work done and hopefully have made some improvements in August. Sure, a lot of the running I did was slow. A lot slower than I’d like really. But I know that’s mostly due to the hot weather, and I should start feeling better and be able to pick up the pace a little once it starts cooling off a little. But aside from that I’ve been feeling pretty good! ๐Ÿ˜„

So, not gonna lie, I haven’t picked up my training journal once in the month of August. Oops… One of the goals I had set for myself in January was to keep up with my training journal and write down one good thing about every single day. I had kinda been doing that off and on so far this year, but at this point I just completely fell off of the bandwagon. But I guess this is a good reminder to get right back on it! ๐Ÿ˜

I’ve been doing a pretty decent job about hitting my step goal most days. Gaga but not gonna lie, all of the running I’m doing makes it pretty easy most days. ๐Ÿ˜‰

All-in-all I’d say August was a pretty good month, even though I really do need to work on the whole training journal thing. But anyway, I’m very excited about September, the fact that fall is almost here, and to see what I can accomplish now that my training is really starting to ramp up!

July Miles And Goal Check In

Well hello there, August! I’m very glad that you’re the last full month of summer, and I sure hope the hot weather leaves when you do! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Actually the weather hasn’t been too bad here lately! That’s supposed to change next week though. Apparently the really hot weather is coming back. Boo…

Anyway, didn’t do too bad mileage wise, considering that this month I had two weeks where I did little to no running. One week because of the heat wave and another because of our family vacation. Other than that though, I had a pretty good month! Ended up with 42.48 miles for the month and kicked off my training for Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days.

Haha and now that that’s in full swing I definitely don’t see my weekly or monthly mileage going down much. Well, as long as I can stay healthy and injury free. *Knock on wood.* I’m not typically good at that. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Anyway, I did pretty good with my other goals as well. Still did pretty decent with my step goal even with the heat wave and being on vacation. Haha but being right on that river really helped with the whole walking thing while we were on vacation. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also managed to keep up pretty well with my training journal, which was an improvement over last month. ๐Ÿ˜„

Welp, I guess that about covers it! Kinda short, sweet, and to the point this month. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I hope you have a great August!!

June Miles and Goal Check In

I totally almost forgot today was the last day of June! And it’s not like June has felt like it flew by or anything, I legit just forgot haha. But anyway, we’re half way through the year and I’m still going pretty strong with all of my goals! Haha well, at the very least I’m still thinking about and working on them, so that’s pretty impressive! I don’t think I’ve ever actually continued with goals I set for myself at the begging of the year for this long, so that’s just an impressive feat in and of itself! Now, only 6 more months to go! ๐Ÿ˜‰

So this last week of June has been crazy hot. I don’t think we’ve had one day this week were the heat index didn’t go over 100 degrees. It’s been kinda rough. My poor garden is really suffering. The plants just aren’t getting any break from the intense heat and sun. That’s another problem, it’s been hot, humid, and sunny with little to no cloud cover. Hopefully we’ll get a break from the intense heat soon! I’m not sure how much more my plants can take. And if the rest of this summer is gonna be like this, then well, gross…

But despite the awful weather we’ve been having, my running hasn’t actually suffered much! Haha probably thanks to my spiffy new treadmill!!! When it’s just too hot out I’ve been able to hope on the treadmill and do my runs instead of either having to cut them short or just not do them at all. I even managed to run 6.23 more miles than I did last month when the weather was a little better. Go me!!

I’ve also been hardcore kicking ass at getting my step goal done this month! I only had 8 day’s this month were I didn’t hit it and only 2 of those days were consecutive. Haha you can see that it’s usually Sunday that I don’t make my goal, but that’s because that’s usually my rest day and I don’t typically go for it. I mean, I need at least one day of complete rest a week. ๐Ÿ˜‰

img_2884ย Last month I wasn’t doing a very good job of keeping up with my training journal and that kinda carried over for the first half of this month. Oops. But for the last 2 weeks I’ve been pretty darn meticulous about it. I’ve also been trying to be much more detailed with it. Since I start training for my two halves in two days in November next month I want to be in the habit of keeping a much more detailed training log. I feel like that will come in very handy for this upcoming training cycle, so it’s just something I want to stay on top of.

Even though it’s been intensely hot and I haven’t been enjoying it at all, I’ve still had a pretty good month! In a couple of weeks Luke and I are going to be going on vacation with a bunch of his family, so I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to keep up with this trend of running more monthly miles. I’d like to and I’m going to try, but I’m not sure how this vacation is going to go (hopefully it’s nothing like our Florida vacation from last year), so I guess we shall see?

May Miles and Goal Check In

May brought heat, humidity, and two rounds of dental work. Haha fun times… But I still worked through it and I feel like I got a pretty decent amount of running done! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒค๐Ÿ˜Š

As for my other goals well, I’ve kinda fallen off of the training journal bandwagon… Haha I started out really strong at the beginning of the month but then just kinda tapered off. I guess I need to keep that thing somewhere I’ll see it all the time and won’t forget about it. I have, however, been pretty much killing it when it comes to hitting my step goal! Go me!! And go me for at least trying to stick with these goals since the beginning of the year! Usually by now I would have long given up on bothering to keep track of them. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I’m pretty excited to see what I can get accomplished in June! I’m hoping to get in a little more mileage considering that I won’t be having much more in the line of dental work done. I still have to get my permanent crowns put in, but after that I should be good on that front! At least for a while! Haha now I’ve just gotta hope the rest of my teeth hold up until next year, because I am officially out of dental insurance. ๐Ÿ˜†

Anyway, my sisters’ birthday is this month (they’re twins!!) and so is my dads! My new chicks should be at the post office any day now! And although I’m still super pissed that I’ve got to start all the way other when it comes to chicken raising, I am pretty excited about cute, new babies! ๐Ÿฅ My garden is growing like crazy and pretty soon I should be getting lots of tomatoes and zucchini. Next month we’re going on a big family vacation to Branson, Mo and I start an official half marathon training plan! I’m gonna have to tweak that a little though, since I’m going to be running two half marathons in two days in November. So I’m starting to get more and more busy, but I like it! It kinda keeps me motivated and makes trying to fit runs in a little more interesting haha.

April Miles and Goal Check In

I totally forgot to do one of these last month. Oops. That’s my bad.

Hahaha but in all fairness, I was out of town and pretty busy doing stuff with family for Easter. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyways, lets get right to it, shall we?

Not bad! Not bad at all!! It’s been like, a crazy long time, but I feel like I’ve actually been accomplishing something this month. I’ve been in kind of a rut for a lot longer than I’d like to admit when it comes to running, but I’m pretty sure I’ve been making progress with putting that all behind me this month and I Got. Shit. Done! Yay me!!

I feel like the whole running 2 half marathons in 2 days thing that I’m going to be attempting to do in November (which you can read more about here and here. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) was exactly the kick in the ass that I needed to shut up and start putting in the real work again. Now the real question is will I be able to keep this up until then? So far I’m thinking I will! I mean, I’m kinda gonna have to now that I’ve got a big, crazy goal that I want to accomplish. Plus it helps that my dad also has a big, crazy goal that he’s working toward; his first half marathon! He’s going to be doing the second half marathon that I’m doing with me! ๐Ÿ™‚ And he’s totally killing it!! We’ve been texting each other non stop about how our training runs are going, so just having someone I can do things like that with is definitely helping my situation, and I imagine it will continue to do so as we both get farther into our training. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now then, onto the goals that I set for myself at the beginning of the year!

Okey dokey, so I’ve been crushing my step goal! The plan has been to walk 10,000 stepsย mostย days. I didn’t set out to walk 10,000 stepsย everydayย because I knew there would be no way I could get that done. I need a full day off from everything every once in a while. Still though, I did really well with it in April. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been using the app HabitBull to keep track of this goal.ย 

And of course my other main goal was to write in my training journal everyday and include at least one good thing that’s happened in every entry. And I was doing really well with that up until about a week and a half ago haha. I just kinda forgot about it a few times and it’s spiraled out of control since then. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But now that I’ve reminded myself that it’s something that I wanted to do this year, I’m gonna go fill it out right now. ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel like I’ve had a really good month and I’m super excited to see what I can accomplish this month. Happy first day of May!!
