Weekly Recap December 4th-10th, 2017

Monday:

  • RWRunStreak Day 12: 2.5 miles
  • 30 Day Shred Day 2

The plan for Monday was actually 3 miles but once I got to 2.5 I quite haha. I figured that was close enough. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyways, got up, got my run done, then did day two of the 30 Day Shred. Oh man, I was tired, sore, but I still did it! My legs actually felt a lot better today though. They’re definitely not as sore/tired as they have been in the past couple of days, so I guess they’re adjusting to the streaking thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

How awesome are my matching skills haha!? Dear Santa, Ashley could use another pair of black running tights. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tuesday:ย

  • RWRunStreak Day 13: 1.5 miles
  • 30 Day Shred Day 3

Did you guys know I have a super power? It just so happens to be catching loose dogs! ๐Ÿถ Lol so while attempting to get in a mile for day 13 ofย #rwrunstreakย I saw this guy out running around, so I called him and he came right to me (seriously, itโ€™s my super power. ๐Ÿ˜‰). So I grabbed him, called his owner, and we hung out for 5 ish minutes until his owner got there. Problem solved, Ashley saves the day! ๐Ÿ˜„ So I turn onto a different street and try to continue on my way, but I end up being chased by ANOTHER dog. And I know this dog and heโ€™s not my biggest fan. You see, I run past his house almost every day and heโ€™s always on a tie out near the road and he always barks/growls at me. Understandably so, heโ€™s just protecting what is his. The problem is today he finally had his chance to teach me a lesson and he was definitely going to take it! He came running at me, hackles raised and growling. So I tried talking to him and letting him sniff my hand, but he wasnโ€™t having it and he snapped at me. So his owner saw him and came running at him, so the dog took off running (pro tip, if your dog ever gets loose donโ€™t run after him, heโ€™ll just think itโ€™s a fun game and keep running away). So I saw my chance to get away and bailed onto another street. Usually I would have helped this guy catch the dog, but like I said, he doesnโ€™t like me and I didnโ€™t want to get bit. Besides, I already got one dog back to where he needed to be to day. So thatโ€™s my story for today. Iโ€™m just out there saving the world, one loose dog at a time!!๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ˜„

Wednesday:ย

  • RWRunStreak Day 14: 2 miles

Fuck me. All of my running plans for the next few days just went out the window.โ˜น๏ธ My brother in law came here last night, and he likes to use his fucking vape right on the front porch and then open the door right after he does so his huge chemical trails follow him right into the house. Not only is that super disgusting, but It hardcore fucks up my lungs because I have asthma. Luckily itโ€™s not that bad, but vape stuff and cigarette smoke always causes me a lot of problems…Anyway, I wanted to do 4 miles today but I knew that wasnโ€™t gonna happen. Honestly Iโ€™m impressed that I made it through 2.

Thursday:

  • RWRunStreak Day 15: 1 Mile
  • 30 minutes on the stationary bike

Nothing fancy. Just a mile to keep the streak alive. ๐Ÿ™‚

img_8170

Friday:ย

  • RWRunStreak Day 16: 1 mile

After a long day of Christmas shopping, gift wrapping, and light hanging (I talk in depth about all of my Christmas time adventures here ๐Ÿ™‚ ), I still managed to get a mile done! Hahaha not gonna lie, after being out and about all day running was the last thing I wanted to do, but I’m glad I did. I ended up feeling a lot better afterwards.

Saturday:

  • RWRunStreak Day 17: 2 miles
  • 45 minutes on the stationary bike

My asthma was still kinda acting up on Saturday, so I did two miles and then switched to the stationary bike. Not the kind of run I wanted to do, but at least I’m keeping the streak going and I’m still moving!

Sunday:ย

  • RWRunStreak Day 18: 3 miles
  • 30 Day Shred Day 4

Running has felt incredibly difficult lately. Probably thanks to my asthma and brother in law but it’s still really frustrating. But at least I made it through 3 miles today. ๐Ÿ™‚

Weekly Recap: May 15th-21st, 2017

Monday:

  • Active Rest

I was still kinda getting over my cold on Monday, so I was still taking it a little bit easy. I did, however, start a step challenge on Garmin Connect with my sisters, our dad, and my sisters boyfriend, so that kept me motivated to stay moving. At the very least I hit my step goal and that’s something I don’t typically do on my rest days. ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh and I also spent some time weeding in my garden. That totally counts for something!

Tuesday:

  • 2 miles

Everything about Tuesday’s run felt hard. But the first few “getting back into it” runs always are, so I wasn’t too worried about it. I was just glad that I finally felt well enough to get a decent run in and not feel like absolute death while I did it. Then after my run I spent an hour weeding in the garden. I have a feeling that most of my summer is going to be consumed by weeding haha.

Wednesday:

  • 5 miles

On Wednesday I battled heat, humidity, and a wind advisory that turned into a tornado watch, but I got a solid 5 miler in! Well, it was a bit slower than most of my runs have been in the previous few weeks, but considering I was just sick and I was fighting against the elements, it felt like a solid workout. Haha I actually went out without a plan, so I kinda surprised myself by covering 5 miles. I also did a bunch of walking and more weeding on Wednesday and I pulled ahead of everyone else in our step challenge. Go me!

Also this is super unrelated, but my lilies are starting to bloom and they’re super pretty. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thursday:

  • 45 minutes of yoga

I ended up feeling really sore and tight after my huge leap back into running and walking and working in the garden earlier this week. So Thursday ended up being an impromptu rest day that involved a nice little nap followed by 45 minutes of yoga in the afternoon. Ah that was nice and very much needed.

Friday:

  • 3 miles

Oh man, thanks to the thunderstorms that rolled in the night before, the humidity was at 95% when I ran on Friday. That made this easy run feel a lot harder than it normally would. Especially for me; the asthmatic runner. I got through it though! I like to think it was because of my tasty pre-run snack. I mean, how can I be in a bad mood after having my favorite flavor of Honey Stinger waffle? ๐Ÿ™‚

Speaking of Honey Stinger; the 10 Reasons Why I Love Honey Stinger post has been crazy popular (in terms of views, that is) ever since I wrote it. So that’s been pretty neat. ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturday:

  • Rest Day

I shoulda run on Saturday. I totally had time…haha oh well.

My mom and dad showed up at my house around 7 am, then they both slept until 1:30 pm. Then we hit the road and my dad drove  the 5 hours to Illinois. So in those hours they were asleep I coulda run, but oh well.

Sunday:

So yeah, I didn’t run today, but I sure got my calorie burn on! I spent the day helping my mom, dad, and brother clean out the house so that they can sell it. I was in charge of burning things, and burn things I did! As you can see, I’m ready for a shower! And dinner and bedtime wouldn’t be so bad either. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Weekly Recap: March 13th-19th, 2017

Monday:

  • 1 hour on the stationary bike

So, my stationary bike is broken. It won’t turn on at all. That’s kinda why I haven’t been using it lately. Not knowing how far I’ve gone on it has been annoying, but I’ve gotten over it. So I pedaled away on it for an hour on Monday, while watching part of Green Day’s concert in Phoenix on YouTube. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tuesday:

  • 3 easy miles

I started a new training plan this week! It’s just one of those free plans on Garmin Connect, but I’ve used the free Garmin plans to train for both of my half marathons and it went well both times, so I figured I’d try out the “improved your fitness” plan. Technically the plan started on Monday with a rest day (but I cross trained instead because I took a rest day on Sunday), but the first workout was on Tuesday.

The plan called for 35 minutes of easy running, which I did.l, but once I finished that I was super close to 3 miles, so I obviously had to keep going and hit the 3 mile mark. Plus it was snowing, so this run was just a whole bunch of fun!

Wednesday:

  • Intervals,
  • 45 minute Nike Training Club workout

Oh man, those intervals were tough! They were two minutes longer than I’ve been doing (which is why I started this training plan, I wanted to switch things up a bit), but I got them done and then a Nike Training Club workout.

Thursday:

  • Easy 30 minutes

Nothing fancy or exciting on Thursday. That’s ok though, easy days are still fun. ๐Ÿ˜„

Friday:

  • Rest Day

Didn’t runbon Friday, but I did get a spiffy new pair of shoes! So that’s pretty exciting! ๐Ÿ˜„

Saturday:

  • 45 easy minutes

I didn’t sleep well the night before, so I really didn’t want to do this run. But since I had a new pair of shoes to break in I got it done. ๐Ÿ˜€

Sunday:

  • Rest Day

Well, I was supposed to run 8 miles today, but I’ve been too busy chasing around our new puppy. Totally worth it!! We’ve had a lot of fun today.

12/7/16

I guess 15 days of running in a row is starting to catch up with me. My legs are beat! They aren’t super sore or anything, just tired. I’m still going at it though! I did 3 nice and easy miles this morning, in my favorite weather too!

It was cold, cloudy, and perfect out. I was hoping to get snowed on, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I still had fun on this run, although I was super glad to be done with it. ๐Ÿ˜„

So I have a confession to make, I’ve run at least one mile for 15 days in a row, but I haven’t been doing any kind of recovery, aside from sleeping in my comprehension socks every once in a while. Oops…that’s probably why my legs aren’t too happy right now. So I decided I was going to start doing something about that today.

After my run I iced a few sore spots, then took a nice hot bath. I wished I had some Epsom salt to put in my bath, but I didn’t. So I figured hot water was better than nothing. And it did seem to help a bit. My legs felt a little less tight when I got out. Oh and it started snowing while I was soaking in the tub. Go figure. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So after my hair had dried off a bit, I took both Lily and Dean on walks. Lily loves the snow just as much as I do! She always gets super excited when she knows it’s snowing, and today was no exception. I don’t think Dean really cares though. He definitely prefers colder weather, but he never seems to give snow much thought. Unlike Lily who starts prancing around, licking it, digging in it, and basically just acting like a puppy again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, as far as recovery goes, I’m also trying to drink more water. In the winter I don’t usually feel thirsty that often and my water intake kinda declines. That’s not a big deal though, I can kinda power through not wanting to drink water, the real issue is that our city is currently under a boil order which is super inconvenient. I’ve never had to deal with a boil order before, as I grew up on a farm where we had a well, instead of being on the city’s water system thing. So yeah, this should be fun. Hopefully they’ll fix whatever the issue is soon, because let me tell you, drinking boiled water is kinda gross. Well, maybe not gross, but it is super weird. I spent quite a bit of time boiling water this morning. I filled up two water bottles, a glass pitcher, and I’ve still got water in the pot.

img_0333

p.s. How neat is my Santa tea pot?!?

After the dogs and myself had our fair share of playing in the snow, I finally got around to doing some restorative yoga and stretching. Plus at this point it had pretty much stopped snowing and there was only about an inch of snow on the ground and that’s not all that exciting, so it’s not like I had anything better to do anyway. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Of course Winchester had to join me on my mat.

After that I pretty much just took it easy for the rest of the day. I watched some Netflix, then started re-reading Game of Thrones for the 3rd time. I actually didn’t finish the series the second time I re-read it. I got kinda bored with it since I had already read it before and then saw the TV series (I haven’t seen season 6 yet though, but the books don’t even make it that far, so yeah…). So I guess we’ll see how long it takes me to get bored with it this time. Haha I think I need a new book/book series to read. I’m very much open to suggestions! Just sayin. ๐Ÿ™‚

Aaaand Luke just got home, so I need to start making dinner.

Happy hump day!
