Not my dog. πŸ˜†

Now in the morning whenever I let my dogs out, Ozzy comes right over. Haha I guess he gets bored and lonely while my neighbor (his owner) is at work. But this morning after he hung out in my yard for a little bit and bothering my chickens, he hopped my fence and was running around the easement….So I spent 15 minutes trying to get him back into my yard so at the very least he’d be safe and wouldn’t get hurt or lost. So eventually I got him back into my yard, made all of my dogs go inside, so he got bored in my yard and went back home. Oh man, this is getting a little annoying. I’m not about to keep an eye on that dog all day everyday. I like him, and he’s very sweet, but he’s not my dog (although he seems to think he is whenever my neighbor isn’t home, because he tries to come into my house when I let my dogs in), and not my responsibility. I’d feel terrible if something were to happen to him, but I can’t spend all day checking up on him and making sure he’s where he should be. Hopefully once the new fence gets built between our two yards his escape artist antic will stop.

Since I had to spend some time wrangling a dog that doesn’t belong to me, I got out on the road a little later than I would have liked. But luckily I had only planned on doing 2 easy miles today, so it wasn’t too big of a deal. It’s not like the weather would have really been much better anyway. It was 73 degrees, 85% humidity, and sunny. Yuck. That on top of the fact that I’m still kinda red and itchy from the antibiotics that I took one whole dose of for my root canal made today’s run not so fun. But I did it and that’s all that matters. πŸ˜‰

img_1886

Seriously though, penicillin and cindamycin give hives, andΒ azithromycin gave me a rash similar to what the other two antibiotics do, but it was much more mild. So when the dentists office called to check up on me yesterday (which I though was really nice) I told them about it and was told to stop taking theΒ azithromycin. So, totally not sure what kind of antibiotics I would take if I had an actual infection. I guess I’d just have to tough it out. But luckily the last time I actually had an infection that needed treated with antibiotics was when I was 13 and had an appendectomy. I don’t remember a lot from my time in the hospital for that. I was on a lot of morphine haha. But I think they might have just continued to give me penicillin and just kept an eye on the hives it gave me. Because I remember being itchy the whole time I was there and don’t remember ever getting a different antibiotic. Like I said though, I was on a lot of morphine so I could be totally wrong about that haha.

img_1851

It’s kinda hard to see in this photo. Especially if you don’t know what you’re looking for. But I’m still a little red, bumpy, and itchy from theΒ azithromycin I took 2 days ago.

Luckily aΒ benadryl helped with the itching on Monday, but they make me so tired that I haven’t taken another since then haha. But the rash is definitely going away and not as bad as it was on Monday, so that’s good. πŸ™‚

My mouth/tooth area is feeling a little bit more sore today that it did after I got the root canal on Monday and yesterday. It got to the point where it woke me up a few times last night. I think I might have bit down on it weird at some point. Maybe even while I was sleeping. That and I haven’t been doing a good job of taking the pain medication the dentist gave me. He told me it would probably be a good idea to take one in the morning for the next few days as a preventive thing and then one every 6-8 hours after that as needed. But I only took one before I went to bed last night. Woops haha. I just don’t like taking medication, especially pain medication before I run. It’s only an 800 mg ibuprofen, but still… Hahaha and the endorphins from my run seemed to help with the discomfort I was having this morning anyway! πŸ™‚ Probably going to take another one before bed tonight though and hopefully I’ll be able to sleep a little better tonight than I did last night.

So since I had the root canal on Monday, I’ve been trying to stick with soft, easy to eat food. That meant that yesterday pretty much all I ate was 2 muffins and some rice and guacamole. Yeah, that wasn’t all that great…Easy to eat though haha! So today I made a point to eat some stuff that was a little more nutritious, including a berry/oatmeal smoothie, more rice and guacamole (this is one of my favorite combinations right now haha. Trust me, it’s delicious) with a fried egg this time, and a pint of ice cream. Oh and Luke made hamburgers for dinner so I had to had to have one of those. They were delicious! πŸ™‚ But at the very least I got a little more nutritious than yesterday haha.

But anyway. Other than my tooth being a little bit sore and it being hot in general, my day has been really good! I plan on running a little further tomorrow, so I’m gonna have to wake up earlier tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll sleep a little bit better tonight.

But anyway, I suppose that’s all for today!

Happy hump day!

Totally Rad Wednesday

Is anyone else a little bit obsessed with all of the gifs for the stories on Instagram? Because I kinda am. πŸ˜‚

It has in fact, been a totally rad day though! I got so much done!! Haha I still have a piss ton of other stuff I need to do though. My brother-in-law, his girlfriend, and her kids are coming over at some point this weekend (and fingers crossed my brother-in-law will finally take all of the shit that he left in our spare bedroom when he moved out 9 months ago. Oh did I mention he never told us he was moving out? He didn’t even pack up his shit or anything. Just left a huge mess for Luke and I to clean up. Which we did. We even boxed up his stuff for him.), and my house is kinda of a disaster haha. I’ve got a pretty decent start on things though! But before I got to any of that, of course I had to get my run in. πŸ˜‰

Spring has finally made it’s way back to Kansas, so oh boy is it windy! That made running a little more difficult than it normally would have been, but holy cow did I have fun! I basically did a quality workout with a couple of strides thrown in at the end and it was a lot of fun! It was pretty hard too, but in a good way and not in the I’m still sick and feel like I’m dying way, which was nice. And I am still kinda sick, but today has been a vast improvement and I could definitely tell during my run. πŸ™‚

img_1123

My peach tree is blooming and looks super pretty right now, so obviously I had to take my very Instagram-y post-run Garmin photo with it in the back ground. πŸ˜‰

It was a really good run! Afterwards I was full of energy and ready to tackle my big project of the day; cleaning out the spare bedroom. That’s where the rabbits, ferrets (although they had to be temporarily moved) live, and where we had been keeping the chickens in their brood box. The thing is, they had not been staying in the brood box. They’ve basically had full run of that room for about two weeks now. Luke and I wanted to move them out of the house and into their coop when that started happening but it was still really cold out and they were still to young to be out in the cold like that without a heat lamp or something, but if we had done that they wouldn’t of had much room in their nesting area and it probably would have ended up getting too hot for them anyway. But anyway, it’s finally starting to warm up again but more importantly they have all of their feathers now, so last night the chickens graduated to their coop.

At night they have to be locked in the nesting area (so they’ll be quite and for their own safety), so that’s where they spent the night and then this morning when we woke up Luke opened the door to the outside portion of their coop but they didn’t make their way down there until a little after 2 pm haha. But once they got down there they pecked and scratched and the dirt to their little chicken heart’s content, and once they got tired of that (and probably a little bit cold in the wind) they made their way back into the nesting area. So this transition has gone just about as well as it could have and they seem pretty happy to be outside! But that still left the spare bedroom to be cleaned…

Oh man, was is a mess in there! There was wood shavings, chicken feed, feathers, and poop everywhere. And I’m pretty sure the poor rabbits were getting annoyed with the chickens just roaming around that room. The last couple of days they had taken to roosting on top of poor Runes cage. I’m sure she wasn’t a fan of that.

Anyway, I swept, mopped, scrubbed, vacuumed, and mopped the floor again in there. I also cleaned both rabbit cages while I was at it, because why not. Haha plus Rune likes to chase the broom while I’m sweeping and weirdly enough likes the vacuum. Daisy is not a fan of either of those things though, so she stayed safely in her cage while Rune got to run around and help me clean for 2 hours hahaha.

Yeah, that first photo isn’t even a “before” photo. It was a “I’m almost done” photo. It was bad… Rune was having fun though haha. There is still some chicken poop stuck to the floor. Kinda gross, I know, but I’m gonna need a putty knife or something to scrape it off with, so Luke’s gonna get me one on his way home from work. Still though, its a vast improvement! πŸ™‚ I’m very glad that the chickens are finally outside in their coop. Won’t have to worry about having a huge mess like that anymore. Also, just ignore those blinds. My brother-in-law’s dog tore them up, along with the screen in the other window, because my brother-in-law just left him behind and didn’t even come get him until 4 months after he’d moved out and Luke told him he had to take him. Apparently after he abandoned his dog a bunch of people were telling him that was a shitty thing to do, but it still took him 4 freaking months to come get him…I’m just he’s finally gone. My dogs did not like my brother-in-law’s dog at all.

And just for the record, I don’t just leave the rabbits in dog crates without any sort of bedding. I keep several old sheets in their cages and the both like to dig and tunnel in them. They were just in the washer when I took this photo haha.

Another project Luke and I want to start is fixing up our rabbit hutch (it’s in bad shape so I can’t use it) and maybe even building another one. Our rabbits don’t get along so they can’t be housed together… I like being able to leave them outside in the hutch when the weather is nice, but can’t really do that at the moment. So for now the rabbits are stuck inside. Hahaha luckily they aren’t as messy as the chickens though!

Whew! After doing all of that I was pretty beat! Cleaning up the chicken mess was a lot of work and I had done a relatively hard workout before hand! So once I was done cleaning I showered, ate lunch, and took and hour long nap. That was nice. πŸ™‚

After that I worked on a few blog posts, did a little bit of yoga, and then got some more cleaning done. Not a lot, but hey, it was something. πŸ˜‰

I’m just feeling pretty great all-in-all. We’re (hopefully) finally getting my brother-in-law’s shit out of our house and finally moving on from the whole all around terrible experience of him living with us for 2 years, I got a lot done today, my peach tree is blooming,Β  I’m finally starting to get over this cold/upper respiratory thing both Luke and I have had for a week now, he says he’s starting to feel better too πŸ™‚ , and I had a great run.

Happy Marathon Monday!!

Wow! Just wow! Congratulations toΒ Desiree Linden for being the first American woman to win the Boston Marathon in 33 years!! And in pretty intense weather too! Absolutely incredible!! Her win today just proves that YEARS of showing up and doing the work pays off! I’m seriously so happy for her and have all of the feels right now. πŸ™‚

I’ve been keeping up with Boston Marathon stuff all day, and all of the incredible athletes who ran today in that crazy weather definitely inspired me during my run today! The weather conditions here in Kansas haven’t been too bad today. Pretty cold for mid-April, but sunny and not too bad. I’m still sick though. I’m pretty sure I’m on the upswing of this illness but I’m still feeling kinda miserable. I didn’t run very much last week because of this darn illness, but now I’m feeling just well enough to know that some easy running would probably do me good.

So with all of the Marathon Monday feels fresh in my mind, I set out to do an easy 3 miles at around 12:30 this afternoon. It was not a fun run. I spent a lot of time stopping so I could couch up phlegm and blow my nose. Exciting, right? πŸ˜‰ But I set out to do 3 miles and I accomplished that goal! I was hoping I’d feel better after running, but I pretty much feel the same. Ugh. I’m so tired of being sick. But at the very least I’m not so sick that I can’t run, so there’s that.

img_1087-1

Another good thing to note; even though we’ve been having some weirdly cold weather in Kansas my peach tree (in the photo above) doesn’t seem like it’s doing too bad. I’m really hoping to get some peaches off of it this year! Every year it grow tiny peaches but then it drops them and starts growing more… Honestly this winter what we need to do is prune it so it stops doing that. But for now I’m just hoping it’ll actually produce some fruit!

Anyway, I suppose that’s all for today. I just wanted to share how incredible I though Des Linden was this morning and complain a little bit more about being sick. πŸ˜‰

I hope you have a great week!

Easter Weekend Shenanigans

Woohoo! I’m finally able to really use my right hand again!!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

I got bit by a dog on Monday while Luke, the dogs, and I were in Illinois visiting our families. Yeah, it was totally my fault and I have hard feelings towards the dog. I shouldn’t have grabbed her when she bolted out the door…

But I’ll get to that story eventually! First let’s talk about all of the fun Luke and I managed to squeeze into our small amount of time in Illinois! πŸ˜‰

So, early last week Luke found out he got Easter Sunday off of work, so on a whim he kinda decided to take a vacation day for the following Monday so we could go visit our families. He had to work on Saturday though, so we’re only going up have a very small amount of time there, but we sure managed to use that time well!

On Saturday I spent the day doing laundry, dishes, bathing the dogs, packing for our trip, and just getting everything ready in general for us to be gone for a few days. I’m pretty sure I went over all of that in this post. πŸ˜‰Β Anyway, Saturday evening when Luke got home from work I was ready to go! He quickly changed, we packed the car, loaded up the dogs and started making our way to Illinois. It takes about 5 hours to get from our house to Luke’s dad’s in Illinois. It’s a boring drive, but it’s a lot better than the 11 hours that it takes to get to my mom and dad’s in Longmont Colorado! πŸ˜‰ Finn sure got comfy on our way there haha.

We got to Luke’s dad’s house around 11:30 Saturday night and as per our new tradition that we started on Christmas, Luke, his dad, oldest brother, and myself stayed up until 2:30 am playing Cards Against Humanity haha. Luke’s dad bought an expansion pack so we had all sorts of new cards to play with. It was a lot of fun. What wasn’t fun was sleeping on their pullout couch. It doesn’t feel very sturdy, sinks in, and there’s not a lot of room. Luke and I fit on it fine, but when you have 3 dogs trying to also sleep on it, well, things get kinda crowded. I think I ended up getting like 2 hours of sleep that night. Fun! πŸ˜‰

The next morning Luke’s youngest brother woke us up by coming into the living room where we were sleeping, and slowly getting closer and closer the the pullout couch. He’d take a step, stop, look at us for a little bit, then take another step, stop, you get the picture. That freaked Finn out. He forced his way in between Luke and I and was growling at Luke’s brother. After a few minutes of that we had to get up and let all of the dogs outside. Not long after that Luke’s dad and step mom came downstairs and started making breakfast. It seems like they like to do biscuits and gravy for holiday breakfasts but they know I’m not a fan, so they made me a nice sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich instead. πŸ™‚ So we ate, talked, Luke took a shower, his youngest brother explained pokemon to me while Luke’s dad and I were trying to talk about other stuff (haha sorry dude, but I could absolutely school you on pokemon! Next time we go there I’ll have to bring my DS and battle him. πŸ˜‰ ). And all the while Finn stood on a wood pile, looking longingly inside at us hahaha.

This is the correct way to bathroom selfie, right? Haha just messing around after our 5 hour car ride.

After Luke had showered and ate we drove to my old house so we could do some target practice. My mom and dad haven’t sold it yet so we’re still able to go there, although I don’t like going. The farm is sold so all of the land belongs to someone else now. And they’ve changed a lot of things and it just makes me sad. Haha the whole time we were there Luke kept telling me one day we’ll have our own land to do what we want with.

img_0697-1

My hand prints and my brother’s footprints (that you can barely see) in our old driveway. Crazy to think it was 18 years ago when we did that…

Anyway, Luke and I set up our target, technically on the people who bought the farm’s property, but they weren’t there so no big deal haha. πŸ˜‰ And did a little bit of shooting. It was cold and windy so we didn’t stay long, but it’s been a looooong time since I’ve shot a gun. Glad to see I can still hit a target! πŸ™‚

After we had our fun we drove to my grandma’s new house. She had a little Easter party so my great Aunt and Uncle (my Auntie and Uncle Pa. πŸ™‚ ), my mom, brother, and Uncle Ken (my mom’s brother) were all there. Luke said hi to everyone but had to leave because he had to go to his Grandma Becky’s Easter lunch. I was right about my grandma and Uncle Ken cooking though! They made an amazing ham, German green beans, cauliflower, potato salad, and my grandma made the BEST desserts; peach cobbler and a cheesecake. It was a fantastic lunch! After we’d all eaten my Aunt Lori showed up (she’s my Auntie and Uncle Pa’s daughter). So we all got to visit for a while. It started sleeting though, so my Auntie, Uncle Pa, and Aunt Lori had to leave before the weather got too bad. After they had gone my Grandma, Uncle, and I watched the Jesus Christ Super Star thing that was on TV. I’ve never actually seen Jesus Christ Super Star before, but I really enjoyed it! And Alice Cooper being in it was pretty spiffy too! And after that we were all pretty tired so we all went to bed.

So I spent my Easter shooting, eating, and hanging out with family. It was nice. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Monday morning Luke was up bright and early! Half an hour earlier than me, which doesn’t often happen haha. But we had things we wanted to do and we had to leave later that day, so getting up early made sense. πŸ™‚

First Luke and his brother came and picked up me and my brother and we drove back to the old house so our brothers could do a little bit of shooting. Again we didn’t spend a lot of time there. It was even colder and now it was wet and icy from the sleet the night before. We all had fun though. Luke’s brother doesn’t exactly get to shoot a lot so he was happy to get to, even though I kept having to remind him of gun safety. πŸ˜‰ And my brother got to show off a little bit and I never had to yell at him haha. But remember that both of us have been shooting basically since we could walk. πŸ˜‰

img_0702

This photo is actually from Sunday, but whatever. πŸ˜‰

After our second round of target practice, we drove back to Luke’s dad’s, picked up his youngest brother and went to the St. Louis City Museum. I haven’t been there since Iw as in like, second grade, and everyone else had never been, so we figured it would be fun to do something different. If you’ve never been to the City Museum, it’s basically a art exhibit/giant playground. With just a tiny bit of actual museum stuff thrown into the mix. The outdoor stuff was still all closed because it’s still too cold out, but there was still plenty to do inside! We played on skate ramps, climbed a crazy amount of stairs, went down a 10 story slide, climbed on stuff, explored an indoor cave, and ate overpriced pizza. It was a lot of fun. πŸ™‚

After the City museum we dropped my brother off at my grandma’s, dropped Luke’s younger brother off at his house, then Luke, his other brother, and I went to Barns and Noble, and then to Luke’s Grandma Wilma’s house. That’s when I got bit by the dog. When we got there her dogs bolted out the door, she said they’d run away, so I grabbed one of them, and she got scared, and bit my right hand a couple of times. Totally my fault. I shouldn’t of grabbed her like that. But she left one pretty decent puncture in my wrist, a few scratches, and my whole hand was swollen. Luke’s grandma cleaned up the wound, and put some antibacterial stuff on it along with a band aid. It hurt like hell but we figured it didn’t require a hospital visit. But anyway, we hung out with her for a while, but it was getting to be around 3:30 pm and Luke and I still needed to drive home. So we left her house, went to Luke’s dad’s said goodbye to everyone there, got Lily and Luke’s stuff. Drove to my Grandma’s, got Finn and Dean, and my stuff, said by to everyone there, got into the car, and began our journey home.

The drive home was slightly more miserable than the drive there. Our car doesn’t have any heat and it was cold and rainy out, so we got to spend 5 hours shivering. It definitely wasn’t as bad as our drive to Colorado over Thanksgiving though! The temperatures were in the negatives for a lot of that drive! This time it was above freezing at least. And we made it home around 9:15 pm without any real issues, so that was good. πŸ™‚

img_0744-1

Haha so yeah, like I said, we squeezed in quite a lot in the short amount of time we had there! Of course I ended up getting hurt, but at least it was during our last few hours there haha. And my hand is healing up quite nicely at this point! It’s still kinda sore and a little bit swollen, but I can actually use it again which is nice! Although after typing all of this it’s kinda hurting again. πŸ˜‰ And I’ve been able to keep the wound clean and it seems to be healing very well, so I’ll gladly take it! Cat bites tend to get infected more than dogs bites do, but still, you can never be too careful about that kind of thing. And I only missed out on a few days of running, and that was mostly just because we were traveling. But I’ll talk about that in my weekly recap on Sunday.

Whew! Alrighty then! I didn’t think this post was going to be so long haha. But I guess I should have seen that coming. We did do a lot of stuff. But, that is all for now!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Friday!!

You’re very injury prone friend,

~Ashley

March 1st, 2018

The last few days have been kinda boring here in Colorado. Mostly because my dad and brother have to work, but also because my stomach has been kinda bothering me. Probably because I’ve lived off of Chinese food and pizza since Tuesday… As fun as that sounds it’s not doing my body any good. Haha my options were very limited though. But my dad and I went to the store last night and got stuff to make smoothies, Super Hero muffins, and all sort of good stuff like that. 😁

So I ended up spending quite a bit of time in the kitchen, but first I had to get a run in! πŸ˜‰ I hadn’t run in 2 days, so I figured I should today. I didn’t feel like going far though so “short and speedy” was the name of the game today. Although I’m not sure of you could actually call what I did speedy haha. Dealing with the elevation is still pretty tough (I’ve been told it can take several months to actually acclimate to it, and I’m definitely not going to be here for that long), so I just went with what felt hard and did 2 miles of intervals. So the elevation seems to wear me out pretty quick and like I said, I’m not feeling great from all of the junk food, so I ate a Honey Stinger waffle before this run. Not something I’d typically do before such a short run, but I like to think it helped. πŸ˜‰

After I got done with my run I showered and realized just how tired I was. Haha have I mentioned that the elevation wears me out? πŸ˜‰ So I napped for a little bit and then began my cooking/cleaning adventures. This morning my dad had started making this vegetable and chicken soup. It’s got butter nut squash, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, onions, beets, and obviously chicken in it. Super healthy, very tasty, but not very visually appealing haha. But anyway, I finished making that. All I had to do was run it through the blender, so I had the easy job. It took FOREVER though. Plus it was a super messy process, so cleaning up once I was done took a while too. I also made Super Hero muffins for my dad to try! Well, it’s more like a Super Hero cake, since they don’t have a muffin tin. But still just as tasty! Also less visually appealing than actual muffins though haha. πŸ˜‰

Other than running, napping, and cooking, I also spend quite a bit of time doing laundry, walking Niko, playing with Bella, and cleaning up around the apartment. So basically normal everyday things that I’d usually do at home and for different dogs/people haha. But it’s more exciting because it’s all in Colorado, right? πŸ˜‰

Anyway, earlier today I told my dad about a whisky 5k that’s held in Martin City (which is in the KC area where I live). He told me that’s literally the perfect 5k for him, since he loves whisky and his last name is Martin (and mine was too, before I got married haha). And every finisher gets a medal and a pint glass and since my dad kinda collects pint glasses (and other fancy glasses), I told him that we were gonna have to do it together. So we are! I’m so freaking stoked!! This’ll be his first official 5k and the first time I’ve had someone to run with during a race! It’s gonna be so much fun! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

img_0116

My dad’s gonna have to get a real pair of running shoes though. On Thanksgiving when we ran around the lake near his apartment he did it in work boots. Yeah, he said that wasn’t fun haha. I told him to go to a specialty running store and have them help him find a pair, so hopefully he has a chance to do that. I mean, he’s only got 10 days to get that done haha.

Whew! I’m super duper stoked right now!

I hope you’ve had a good Thursday!

February 27th, 2018

Last night I had an interesting experience with Niko. I have been sleeping on the couch in the living room and Niko usually sleeps on the floor out there. So last night before I went to bed, I’d gotten up to get a drink of water, and while I was up I noticed Niko’s water bowl was empty so I filled that up as well. While I was doing that he started eating out of his food bowl and growling at me. So at that point I was like “oh shit”. Because his particular breed is very aggressive and can be quite vicious. I mean, he is a Russian bear dog after all (also known as a Caucasian Shepard and Caucasian ovcharka). Plus that dog only weighs 28 pounds less than I do, and has teeth meant for ripping, tearing, and killing. So obviously I was pretty nervous.

I don’t usually get too worried when a dog gets aggressive, but look at this thing! He was literally bred to be a killing machine! Don’t get me wrong though, he can be very sweet and I don’t mind being around him or handling him when he’s in a good mood.

After a minute or so he got tired of me being so close to his food dish so he picked it up and moved it to the living room. I tired talking to him nicely, was being very calm, and moving slowly, but every time I took a step from the kitchen into the living room he’d start growling and barking at me. And I didn’t want to take any chances because of the reasons I’ve stated above.

Luckily after about 5 minutes of being stuck in the kitchen my brother came out of his bedroom to use the bathroom, so one he was done I yelled down the hallway for him to come help me haha. And of course Niko didn’t care if he walked into the living room (although my dad said usually it’s my brother that he growls at). My brother walked in there, pet him, gave him a treat, and took his food bowl away, but Niko still wouldn’t let me into the living room. So I gave him a treat, but he still wasn’t having it. He got pissy every time I tried to leave the kitchen. So eventually my brother just let me sleep in his room and he slept in the living room with Niko. Haha but of course this morning Niko came barging into my brother’s room and wanted to be my friend again. Probably because he wanted me to take him outside hahaha. He’s a very moody dog.

img_9887-1.jpg

But anyway, he’s fine with me again today haha.

So I am freaking sore from running in the ice/snow yesterday. Probably because I haven’t really done much running since I hurt my toe. Although that’s doing a lot better now. And the elevation here is wearing me out haha. So I figured today would be a good day for a rest day. Plus my dad and brother had to work today and my mom’s not really into hiking or outdoors stuff. So I guess it kinda worked out to not really do much today.

It was super nice outside today thought. So later in the morning I ended up walking 2 miles on the trail near my parents’ apartment. It’s so pretty out there it’s the views of Longs Peak and the lake. Plus unlike my mom, sitting inside all day isn’t an option. So my little walk made me feel better. 😊

Anyway, last night we went to Walmart and had quite the debacle. We got all of our food/groceries and we went to the checkout, got everything scanned/bagged but then both my mom’s and brothers’s checks got declined (apparently that happens a lot with they’re bank). We couldn’t get ahold of my dad, so we drove back to their apartment, but he didn’t want to go to Walmart (he had worked all day), so we never got our groceries. Last night for dinner I had a cream cheese/apricot preserve sandwich. Not bad, but Luke felt bad for me so he had an order of Pad Tia sent to me for lunch. He is literally the best. πŸ˜„

I suppose that pretty much sums up my day. Haha it was kinda really boring. Hopefully tomorrow will be more eventful. πŸ˜‰

Happy Tuesday!

February 26th, 2018

It was another beautiful day here in Colorado!!

My dad and brother both had to work today, so I mostly hung out with my mom. But of course I had to run first. πŸ˜‰

Breakfast, because I was too lazy to make Manything. πŸ˜‰

So McIntosh Lake is basically across the street from my parents’ apartment and it’s got a gravel trail that goes all the way around it, so that’s where I ran today. Well, it was more of a run/walk/slipping/sliding kinda thing. It was around 42 degrees and all of the snow was melting, pretty packed down and icy. So that made things a little bit difficult. Plus the elevation is killer! Haha remember I’ve lived in the Midwest my whole life. πŸ˜‰ I was pretty wiped out after the 3 miles I did, but the views of Longs Peak definitely made it worth it!

After that fun adventure I showered, made some grits (oh man it’s been a while since I’ve eaten grits haha), napped for a little bit (haha the elevation seriously wears me out!), and then took the dogs out for a little bit.

Later in the afternoon my dad and brother got home so we hung out for a little bit and then my mom and I went to Walmart. Fun times haha.

But yeah, that’s pretty much all we did today.

Happy Monday from Longmont Colorado!
