Stay Spooky

I saw this shirt on Etsy on Friday and I was like, “I absolutely NEED this!!” So of course I bought it. And it’s already here!! It literally shipped a few hours after I ordered it and I couldn’t believe it! That’s the fastest I’ve ever had an online order come. So I’m a super happy camper! 😊

Here’s the link to the Etsy shop I bought it from. I definitely recommend this shop! Obviously because my order got here so quickly but also because the shirt is great quality, super comfy, and bat!!! πŸ¦‡πŸŒ™

This wasn’t sponsored or anything. Just wanted to share a neat find!

Anyway, Today was a rest day! Yay!!

I sure needed it! I’m actually not sore or anything today. I’m just feeling tired, depleted, and a little bit dehydrated. When I woke up this morning I almost felt sick. Once I got some breakfast and water in me I felt a lot better. But still. A day off from running was definitely needed.

So, this morning I drank a bunch of water, watched Kiki’s Delivery Service, and did a DIY face mask. I love DIY beauty stuff. I know exactly what’s going onto sand therefore into my body. Everything is natural without any weird ingredients, chemicals, or preservatives.

This face mask is super simple, is only made up of two ingredients that just might already be in your kitchen (they’re definitely staples in mine!), and leaves my skin feeling super silky and clean! So literally all you do is mix one part raw honey with one part coffee grounds (they can be fresh but I usually use the used grounds from my morning cup of coffee. β˜•οΈπŸ™‚), apply evenly to your face, let it sit for 30 minutes, then wash off. That easy!!

I may or may not have borrowed my husband’s shirt for this. πŸ˜‚

Since raw honey is antibacterial so it’s supposed to be great for acne. It’s also full of antioxidants so it’s supposedly good for anti-aging. Coffee is supposed to be good for circulation and is therefore also good for anti-aging. Plus it’s a natural exfoliant so it helps remove dead skin cells from your face and is also supposed to be good for your complexion.

Now I’m not sure how true all of that stuff is. I just know that it makes my skin feel nice and I like the way it smells. πŸ˜‚

Plus it’s relatively cheap and easy to make if honey and coffee are staples in your kitchen. And I’m all about cheap and easy! πŸ˜‰

Anyway, it was a nice morning.

This afternoon was relaxing and uneventful. Mostly I continued my binge listening of ATWWD while doing some light housework.

This evening Luke and I took Lily to the vet the have the staples from her surgery removed. That was pretty quick and easy! Lily has healed beautifully and is now able to resume her regular activities which is great! Hahaha I was getting tired of yelling at her for jumping up onto the couch or bed because and for running too fast. Things she wasn’t supposed to do because it might rip her staples out. Obviously she was confused about all of that because she’s never been yelled at for doing any of that before. πŸ˜‚ But we’re past all of that now and things can go back to normal in her life.

Anyway, that’s all for today!

Happy Monday! I hope you have a great week!!

Stay spooky, my friends,

That Backyard Farm Life

Border collies, and chickens, and tomatoes, oh my!!

If you weren’t already aware, I have quite the little backyard farm going on!

I grew up on an 80 acre farm in rural Illinois and I miss it all of the time, but my tiny little backyard set up does help. Also maybe it’s practice for a future real farm someday? I sure hope so!!

But before we get into everything I’ve going going on in that regard I just wanted to quickly mention that I got pooped on by a bird during my run this morning. That was definitely a first for me and I thought it was pretty funny. πŸ¦πŸ’©πŸ˜‚

Ok, so backyard farm.

Obviously I’ve got my 4 border collies. They have been my dream since I was 10 years old and I cannot even being to describe how happy they make me! One day I’d like to actually have some real livestock for them to work (Lily actually has worked cattle before and does know a few real herding commands), but for now they just help me keep my chickens and rabbits in line. πŸ˜‚

One of my rabbits has a habit of escaping her hutch at night and getting under our shed. But when she eventually comes out Finn knows to keep her from getting back under there and will hold her in one place so I can quickly grab her. Border collies are incredibly smart and the fact that he’s caught on to what I need him to do is just so awesome!

Don’t worry! This doesn’t stress the bunny out! If you’ve ever seen border collies work then you know they’re very quite and deliberate with what they do. Plus she’s just super used to it and isn’t afraid of my dogs at all. Hahaha if she was a sheep she would be considered β€œdog broke”. Which just means she’s used to being worked by my dogs.

So yeah. I’m just over here living one of my childhood dreams and it’s pretty fucking sweet!

Now, I’ve really debated talking about this next part, but I’m briefly going to get into it. Super duper long story that really doesn’t matter anymore and even if it did I wouldn’t get into it anyway, I’ve recently come into the possession of 2 as of today 6 day old border collie puppies. Like I said, it’s a long story that really doesn’t matter. But what does matter is that they’ve been keeping me very busy! One is a little boy and the other is a little girl.

Unfortunately the little girl has a cleft palate so we’re not sure what’s going to happen with her yet. We’re planning on taking her to the vet soon and seeing what they think we should do. Obviously I’m not a vet, but from what I’ve read it might just be better to euthanize her. Unfortunately stuff like that happens. But we’ll see what the vet says. So I was bottle feeding her, but that wasn’t working well since puppies with cleft palates can’t create the proper suction to nurse. So I’ve switched to feeding her with a syringe for now. And I may have to keep doing that for 3 or 4 more weeks until I can start weening them. That or I’ll only have 1 puppy to care for soon. We shall see.

Little girl fell asleep in my hand after I got done feeding her. Poor baby, is doing a lot better after I started feeding her with a syringe though.

Note; we are not keeping either of these puppies. I’m just taking care of them until they’re old enough to find new homes. But they are adorable! And while they are a lot of work, I do like having them around. 😁

Okey doke! Moving on!!

My chickens are doing well! Nothing really too exciting to report on that front. They eat, poop, and lay eggs pretty much every day. Jethro, my rooster, gets a little bit high and mighty anytime a man gets anywhere near the coop but other than that he’s the nicest rooster I’ve ever met. πŸ˜‚

Since my hens are pretty well established and laying almost every day (they’ve slowed down a little bit because of the heat) I’ve been selling eggs to a few people. Nothing too crazy, but they have paid for a few bags of their feed, so hey, I’ll take it!!

Fresh and pretty eggs washed and ready to be delivered to my neighbor!

So this year my garden is much smaller than it has been in previous years, but it’s doing much better than it did last year!! Last year we legit went 2 months without a drop of rain and my poor tomato plants suffered because of it. This year the weather has been much better and we’ve had a ridiculous amount of tomatoes!! And a decent amount of cucumbers too! 😊

Luke and I have already made 2 jars of tomato sauce and we plan on making more! Plus a bunch of pickles. Canning is a lot of fun, plus we like to have homemade tomato products for chili. We make a lot of chili in the cold months hahaha. And homemade sauce made from a homegrown tomatoes just makes it that much better.

So all of this backyard farm stuff is a lot of work! Monday I spent 2 hours in the morning tending to everything outside and today I spent 3 hours out there! And that’s not counting caring for the puppies and feeding/cleaning up after the rest of the animals. πŸ˜‚ Mostly those 2 days were filled with general yard work, weeding the garden, picking tomatoes and cucumbers, watering the garden, and weed whacking.

Whew! All of that stuff counts as cross training, right?? Hahaha I sure think it does! All that stuff is hard freaking work! I enjoy it though. I guess you could say it’s in my blood. Now if only I could actually make some real money off of all of this! It’s a lot of work and little reward if you don’t count the eggs and produce. Mostly it’s just thankless work. A lot of people assume that since I don’t have a “real” job that I sit around all day doing a whole lot of nothing but that definitely isn’t the case!

So yeah. That’s basically my life at this point! Running, raising dogs, chickens, and growing food! Along with blogging and general household stuff of course. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s mine and I love it. 😊

I hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday!!

You’re backyard farming friend aka Farmer Dan (it’s an inside joke πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰),

41 Days Until The Autumn Equinox and 49 Days Until The First Day Of October!

Yeah, I have a countdown for both of those things going on my phone. πŸ˜‚

For real though, I’m so over summer!

Not that I was exactly into it to being with. But I’m very ready for it to be over at this point. I’m tired of having to wake up super early to run before the sun comes out at the heat index hits the 100’s. I’m tired of dripping with sweat and being crusted with salt by the time I finish my runs. I’m tired of feeling drained and sapped of every ounce of energy I have on super hot and humid days. And I’m tired of having to resort to running on the treadmill on days where I want to sleep in until 7 am or days when we have heat warnings and I just can’t handle the excessive heat and humidity (I’m for real a huge wimp in the heat and the humidity doesn’t help my asthma…). I am so ridiculously ready for some cool weather and beautiful fall days!

But alas. For now you will find me drowning in my own sweat. πŸ₯΅

Alright. I know that was like, the worlds largest pity party. But I think sometimes it’s best to just get it all out, ya know? πŸ˜‚

Mostly I’m just upset because I ended up sleeping in until 8 am today. Yesterday I was up early, ran 3 “easy” (but they were actually hard AF) miles, and then proceeded to do 2 hours of strenuous yard work. All in the full sun, 80 degrees a rising, 94% humidity weather. With an excessive heat warning on top of it all. The heat index for yesterday got up to 103. Luckily I was done with everything and inside for that part of the day. But my morning in the sun, heat, and humidity really drained me. Hence the sleeping in until 8 today. And since it was already 80 degrees by then I figured the treadmill was my best option. Not my favorite, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

That being said, I might have procrastinated my run today a little bit. I don’t find the treadmill to be particularly appealing so it’s can be really hard to take the first steps of actually getting onto the damn thing!

Eventually I did though. While I might not be stoked about the treadmill it’s pretty easy for me to stay motivated to get my runs done when I have a race on the calendar. Or in this case two. In two days. πŸ˜‰

So around 10:40 this morning I hopped onto my treadmill and got today’s workout done! It definitely helped that my training plan called for my favorite kind of interval workout today, but oh man it was still super hard! I got through it though! Plus for most of my workout there were these little birds hanging out in the bush right outside my window and that was cool! Hahaha they were pretty entertaining and definitely helped take my mind off of the fact that I was putting in some hard work on the treadmill.

Seriously though! I’m so glad that one is over! It was super tough and now I’ve been super tired all day. Like I said, I’m very ready for fall to get here so running isn’t so darn draining all of the time.

Anyway, thanks for hanging around and reading my pity party for today!

I’m all for positive thinking but I also think it’s helpful to say how you feel out loud or write it all down. Bottling things up all of the time just doesn’t work. At least it sure doesn’t for me! I already feel better now that I’ve complained!

So yeah. That’s all for today!

How are you feeling? Are you a summer lover or are you ready for fall? πŸπŸ‚

You’re very sweaty, sport drink reliant friend,

Home Sweet Home, Hello August, and Half Marathon Training

Yesterday afternoon Luke and I loaded up all 4 dogs into the truck and then made our way back to Kansas! Yay!! Is there anything better than sleeping in your own bed at night after being away?? 😴😊

Hahaha but before we actually got to sleep in our bed when we got home (at like, 7 pm yesterdayπŸ˜‰) we had some stuff to take care of. Mostly in the garden. After not being tended to for 4 days it was a little bit dry. It didn’t rain at all while we were gone either. But it’s not too bad. We still had to pick a ridiculous amount of tomatoes and even a few cucumbers last night.

So. Many. Tomatoes!!

It did actually rain that night though! We had a nice little thunderstorm roll in which was very much needed! My garden wasn’t the only think looking a little bit dry yesterday, so everything got watered and that’s good. It was a nice way to end July. Really the weather this summer has been pretty mild for the most part here in Kansas, but a little bit of rain was definitely necessary!β›ˆπŸ˜Š

It was still thundering when I woke up this morning, but no more rain. It just missed us. But things were sufficiently wet here, so that wasn’t a big deal.

Anyway, it’s the first day of August!!

That means it’s time to tally up my monthly mileage!

July was a bit of a hectic month. Luke and I hosted two teenagers and kept them entertained. We experienced a heat wave followed by a weird but very welcome cold snap. I twisted my ankle. And Obviously we had our trip to Illinois. So life and my usual clumsy nature definitely happened and were in full effect this month and my mileage clearly reflects that.

That being said, I still pushed through some stuff, squeezed in runs when we were busy, even if that meant losing some sleep. I cut some runs short when I was short on time, but I still did something and that sure beats nothing! And when I got hurt, instead of being stupid and trying to run on my swollen and sore ankle, I gave it the rest it obviously needed. So all in all I’m calling this month a win!

But now that things are finally going to be settling down around here I’m ready to really start putting in some work! Especially since I’m technically 2 weeks into half marathon training. Although I haven’t really gotten much done in that regard since I twisted my ankle last Wednesday. But that ankle is starting to feel much better now!!

I didn’t run today though, but I really needed to rest and recuperate and that’s also a part of training! Honestly I’m just exhausted from all of the running around we did while we were in Illinois. Today it was nice to just sit at home and do nothing. Well, for the most part at least. πŸ˜‰ I still have animals that needed tended to, tomatoes that needed washed, and other chores around the house that needed done. Oh and laundry. I had to do so much laundry. πŸ˜†

But anyway. We’re home! I’m ready to get going at half marathon training! And we are now that much closer to fall!! 53 more days until the Autumn Equinox and 61 more days until the first day of October!! πŸ‚πŸπŸŽƒ

Happy first day of August!

~Ashley

Hello Again, Illinois!

Hello my friends!

So, I didn’t write a weekly recap for this week because on Wednesday I tripped and fell (again πŸ™„) while running and twisted my ankle. It’s been pretty sore since then so I haven’t run on it since. Bummer. And definitely not the way I wanted to kick off week one of half marathon training. But at least I didn’t skin my knees as badly this time. 🀣

Oh man, honestly I’m beginning to think my newer pair of running shoes is the problem. I’ve NEVER fallen like this whole running before and now I’ve done it twice within the last several weeks. The only difference is the shoes. I already prefer minimalist shoes so I usually run in Nike Free’s, but I also like to rotate in a different model of Nike’s just to switch things up. But apparently these shoes are just too much for me. I can’t feel the ground beneath my feet like I’d like to and I’m beginning to think that’s the problem here. πŸ€”

So yeah. Hurt my ankle. Haven’t been able to run since Wednesday. Freaking great. πŸ™„πŸ˜‘

In better news, yesterday Luke and I drove to Illinois to visit with family! This is our last big thing we’re doing for the summer and after this everything should be calming down around here. And hopefully my ankle will start to feel better so that I can really start digging into half marathon training!

Anyway, we made it to Illinois just fine and at around 4:30 that afternoon! We have all 4 dogs with us so our first stop was to Luke’s dads so we could say hi and then drop off Dean and Whiskey there. Then we went to my grandma’s to drop off Lily and Finn. We separated them because 4 border collies all in the same house that does not belong to them is a bad idea. So it’s better to split them up like this.

After the dogs were settled in we drove back to Luke’s dad’s house because him, his wife, and youngest son were going to this BBQ festival thing and they wanted Luke and I to go with them.

It was definitely an interesting event. One whole street was closed down and lined with bbq vendors. The food was pretty good. But really all I ate was part of a giant turkey leg. I love me a good turkey leg. πŸ¦ƒπŸ˜‚

Mostly though I was excited about the live music! They had a pretty decent 80’s cover band called “Jonny Rock-ITT” playing and I thought that was fun! Live music is basically my favorite thing!! They played for something like an hour and a half to 2 hours. Basically the whole time we were there. We got to listen to/watch them while we walked around and ate. They actually started their set a few minutes after we got there and finished a few minutes before we left, so I was pretty stoked that we were there for the entirety of the live music! 😊

Once we were done there Luke brought me back to my grandma’s so I could hang out with her, my uncle, and Lily and Finn for the night, and he went back to his dad’s so he could spend time with him, his step mom, his youngest brother, and Dean and Whiskey.

Finn thinks he needs to protect me from my Uncle’s dog. Poor Luther is really a good boy. Finn’s just an asshole. πŸ˜‚

Today Luke, his dad, his step mom, and I went to a local distillery for a tasting and tour. I’m not much into hard liquor, but it was still really fun! Plus they had some flavored vodka and whiskey that was pretty good! The photo below of of a Lemon fizz and it was DELICIOUS! πŸ˜‹

So first we got to try 6 of their vodka’s and whiskeys and then we learned how it’s made. So they grow their own corn and use locally peaches and apples to flavor their peach and apple vodkas which I think is cool! Hahaha and we got to keep our tasing cups afterwards which was cool.

So Luke and his dad each bought a bottle of the lemon drop whiskey which was what was in the Lemon Fizz, so apparently we’re going to be drinking that tonight. πŸ˜‚ But before that fun ensues we’re going out to eat at a Mexican restaurant for dinner.

So that’s what’s up next on our agenda while we’re here. I’m not sure what else will be going down, but we’re going to be here until Wednesday, so I’m sure we’ll be doing something else before then.

But that’s all for now!

Happy Sunday,

~ Ashley

Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days: Take Two is Officially A-go!!

Woohoo!! As of Saturday I am officially registered for the Gobbler Grind half marathon! That means Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days: Take Two is officially a-go!! 😱

Apparently hanging up my fliers at the Indian Creek Trail and at the office where Luke works really worked! So far I’ve had 8 people sign up for the Gobbler Grind using my ambassador discount code which means I got to register for free (I only needed 5 for that. πŸ˜‰). Sweet!!!

Some ambassador programs are definitely better than others! 😁 Some just give you a discount, but others (usually ones that you have to work a little bit harder for) have better benefits like this! And I’m not trying to brag or anything like that! Just keeping it real and everything in full disclosure! I am an ambassador for this race (and several brands) so I do get some perks from all of that. But I do strive to keep everything I post in here 100% real. I would never promote or become involved with a brand or race that I didn’t believe in or love.

Hahaha and I know I always say something like that whenever I talk about any of that ambassador programs I’m in, but like I said, just trying to keep it real on my little corner of the interwebs! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

So anyway, Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days: Take Two is officially official! Yay!!

And right before I “officially” kick off my half marathon training cycle too!! Hahaha I say “officially” because my training plan actually starts next week, but I’ve been training with Operation Two Half Marathons In Two Days: Take Two in mind since the beginning of this year, really.

I would be a lot more stoked about the start of my half marathon training plan if the last week of June and first week of July didn’t have so little running in them… Those weeks I only totaled 11 mile and the 7 miles respectively. Oops. But I mean, it’s been a busy summer and life just kinda happened. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Really though I was doing pretty well, at least mileage wise, up until that point though and I really got my shit together last week and got in 18 miles. Not what I’ve been aiming for, but not terrible. And I’m really focusing on making this week even better, so I should be ok in that department. I won’t be going into this training cycle ridiculously out of shape at least! πŸ˜‚

The real issue here is that I haven’t really done any speed work since this spring. Yikes. Since I’m tackling two half’s in two days I don’t really have a time goal for either. Especially since I’m running both races with my dad. But really, I should still be doing some speedier things…

Oh man the first few speed sessions of half marathon training are really going to hurt. 🀣

But all in all I am pretty excited to “officially” start training for this thing next week! Hopefully it’ll all go smoothly! Or as smoothly as summer running can ever go for me. Hahaha I am not a fan. πŸ₯΅ But summer miles bring fall smiles! So I’m going to do my best to stick with it!

And doing my best apparently means waking up at 5 am so I can get out the door before the sun comes up and slogging through 3 very slow, slightly painful miles. At least, that was my “best” this morning. Really I wanted to get in 5 miles today, but my legs are shot from walking around the zoo in Doc Martens all day on Saturday. My sparkle boots (Doc Martens 1460 Pascal Glitter πŸ˜‰) are very pretty and SUPER comfortable! But they are a lot heavier than the shoes that I have been wearing lately.

I actually experienced this every fall when I got from wearing mostly tennis shoes and flip flops to wearing heavier boots. My legs always feel a little heavy when I start my footwear transition. πŸ˜‚

Worth it! I got several compliments on my boots that day. 😊

So, 3 miles today! I think my slow slogging (in my super light Nike Free’s! πŸ˜‰) helped shake out my legs a little bit though. So hopefully tomorrow’s run will go a little bit better! Either way, still got in 3 miles before the sun had a chance to rise and really heat up the road, so I’ll take that as a win!!

After I finished my slow slog run I spent about an hour and a half tending to my chickens and my garden. I had quite a bit of weeding to do. πŸ˜‚ But my tomato plants are finally starting to go off!! They’ve had a bunch of green tomatoes on them for a while now but they’re starting to get ripe! Plus I’ve got these HUGE green tomatoes out there and I absolutely cannot wait for them to to finally turn red!!

Our garden is much smaller than it’s been in previous years. This year we’ve only got tomato plants, pepper plants (which I’ve already gotten one huge, green pepper from, cantaloupe plants, and cucumber plants (which are just now starting to grow little tiny cucumbers!!!). But it’s doing MUCH better than last year. Last summer was absolutely BRUTAL. It was crazy hot and sunny pretty much every day and I’m not even exaggerating when I say we went two whole months without a drop of rain. It was crazy! But this year has been sooo much better and we’re definitely going to get a much better produce yield, which means we’ll actually have some stuff to can! Yay!!

Anyways, that’s all for today!!

Happy Monday! I hope you have a fantastic week!

Until next time,

~Ashley

Weekly Recap: July 8th-14th, 2019

So having two teenagers (my brother and sister in law) living in my house this week has been an interesting endeavor. Not that it was bad or anything! It’s just that…they’re teenagers. So they sleep in a lot later than I do. So a lot of tip toeing around the house happened in the mornings. πŸ˜‚

Especially the early mornings when I had to get up at 5 am if I wanted to run before it got too terribly hot out. There were a few of those days. I sure hate having to wake up that early, but I always regret it when I don’t. The sun is not my friend in the summer…

Not gonna lie, I legit have a countdown on my phone for the Autumn Equinox and the first day of October. My body is ready!!! πŸŽƒπŸ‚

Monday:

  • 4 easy miles

I’d say I’m just trying to get back into the swing of things, but the swing of things has still been a little bit off this week, obviously! πŸ˜‰ So really I’m just trying to squeeze it in when I can.

So on Monday I was up at 5 am to get my run done! I’m not a fan of having to wake up that early, but at least I was treated to a nice sunrise. After my run I had to take care of a bunch of stuff around the house before my sister in laws got here. One of them left after a few minutes. She still had about a 5 hour drive to St. Louis. But obviously the other one stayed here with us. 😊 She and I, plus her brother spent the rest of the day hanging out and kinda picking on each other. Because what else are siblings supposed to do?? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Tuesday:

  • 2 treadmill miles
  • 20 minutes of yoga

Hahaha oh boy, I was tired from my early wake up and then later bedtime on Monday, so I ended up sleeping in till 8 on Tuesday. That’s definitely not a great thing to do in the summer. When I woke up the sun was out and it was HOT. So I decided I was going to do my run on the treadmill instead. I’m a huge wimp when it comes to the heat. πŸ₯΅πŸ€£

So I had to waited until about 11 to do this 2 mile run. My brother in law has been sleeping on an air up mattress in our spare bedroom, which is really our “exercise room” because that’s where my treadmill, stationary bike, yoga mats, foam rollers, and running shoes now reside. But yet again the problem with teenagers is they like to sleep in late. And I get it. I was a teenager once too. But I’m a morning runner and an inpatient person so I git tired of waiting. So I ended up running outside anyway. πŸ˜‚

Oh man that was miserable! I wanted to do a little bit of speed work today but that wasn’t going to happen in the mid-morning heat! So I just did two slow miles. Hahaha but that’s better than nothing! Afterwards I enjoyed some nice, cold watermelon, because literally nothing is better after a hot run. πŸ‰πŸ˜‹

Wednesday:

  • 5 miles
  • 30 minutes on the stationary bike

77 degrees. 94% humidity. At least that’s what the weather was like when I started my run on Wednesday morning at 5:30 I’m the morning.

Not exactly fun times, but I got it done!! Doing my very best to get back on track after 3 not so great running weeks. So far so good! 😊 Even though getting back into it is hard as hell and kinda hurts. πŸ˜‚ But I also know that it won’t be that way for long and that definitely helps!

Thursday:

  • Rest day

My legs were starting to feel HEAVY by Wednesday! πŸ˜‚ So a rest day definitely felt good on Thursday!

Hahaha originally I wanted it to be a cross training day, but I was tired so πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Friday:

  • Zoo day

So Friday didn’t end up going as I had planned, but it was a fun day! Luke kinda decided at the last minute that he wanted to take his brother and sister to the Kansas City Zoo and art museum so that’s what we did!

It was a long, hot day, but still lots of fun. You can read more about it here if you’re interested! 😁

Saturday:

  • 7 miles on the treadmill

So this was a weird run. Actually it just felt like a weird day in general! πŸ˜‚

So usually I run in the morning, but I woke up late on Saturday (our zoo adventures kinda sapped everyone’s energy, I think!) and decided I was going to run on the treadmill. But I had to wait until 1:20 pm when my brother in law finally woke up because he’s been sleeping on an air mattress in our spare bedroom, which is where my treadmill is. So that was all just weird.

Then about 4 miles into my run my dad called me and we talked for about an hour. But since I couldn’t really hear with the treadmill going I had to stop. So yeah, my 7 miles weren’t exactly consecutive. But at least I finished them after I got off of the phone with my dad. πŸ˜‚

Then I did some stretching, showered, ate, and all of a sudden it was 4 pm but it felt like it should have only be 11 am (because I usually do all of this in the morning) and my whole perception of time was off for the rest of the day. But at least I got 7 miles done. πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

Sunday:

  • Rest day

Happy anniversary to us!

7 years married. 11 years (almost πŸ˜‰) together. And 13 years of knowing each other. We’re still the coolest people I know. πŸ˜ŽπŸ–€πŸ˜‚

Total Weekly Mileage: 18

Not exactly what I’ve been aiming for, but after everything we’ve had going on I’ll definitely take it!! 😊

My sister in law left today, and while I really enjoyed having another girl around here, that’s one less person I have to worry about which means I’ll have a little more time on my hands next week. πŸ˜‰ So maybe I’ll be able to squeeze in a few more miles. But I am happy with what I was able to get done this week. πŸ˜„

Happy Sunday! I hope you had a great week!

~Ashley
