Hello Friends!

Sorry I’ve been kinda absent this last week. The death of a really good friend from back in high school caught everyone off guard on Monday, and if people’s Facebook statuses/messages/phone calls have been any indication, it would appear that our whole little private school/Lutheran church community from back then is taking it pretty hard. But how could you not? I mean, it hurts me to know that he was hurting enough to take is own life, so I can’t imagine how his family and friends he was still really close with feel. And obviously it’s always hard when you lose a friend or a loved one, no matter what the cause, but it seems like suicide leaves a whole hell of a lot of “what if” questions just hanging out there. At this point dwelling on those “what if’s” doesn’t do anyone any good, but it’s kind of hard not to. I’ve been thinking a lot about them, his ex girl friend from back in high school (whom I’m still friends with) has been really thinking about them as well. We talked for a while on Tuesday about it and both of us were basically at a loss as to what to say. But I’m sure his family is probably thinking even more about the “what if’s”

Oh man, it’s just rough. I mean, life in general kinda is but it’s always worse when you lose someone you care about.

So I guess I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that depression and mental health in general is something that definitely needs to be talked about more so that maybe one day we’ll be able to get rid of some of the stigma around it. In our culture and society it can be really hard to talk about this kind of stuff and reach out to other people when you need help, especially for men I think. So lets get a conversation started about this! Talk to the people you love and care about. Tell them how awesome they are and how much they mean to you. Let them know that you’re always there for them. And I’m sure that wont help every single situation. But who knows, you might just help someone who needed it the most and you would have never known about it otherwise.

And on that note, please please please never hesitate to reach out to someone. I don’t suffer from depression but I still know and understand how hard it can be to ask for help. If I’ve learned anything from my friend’s death it’s that people care. The outpouring of condolences, love, support, and acts kindness I witnessed his family receive is just incredible. Hell, I even received some of that love and support because people knew we had been close back in the day. People really do care. So if you ever need help or just need to talk, reach out to your family, friends, coworkers, running buddy, teacher, priest/pastor/rabbi, your “internet friends”,  or even just the s prevention hotline, whoever. People care. You are not alone.

Oh man, that’s some heavy stuff. Lets take a second to look at some cute puppy pictures for a second. Cute puppy pictures always make me feel a little better. 😉

You know what, lets do some other cute animal pictures too. Why not? 🙂

Hopefully that brought everyone back up a little bit. At the very least I managed to cheer myself up a bit, so at least there’s that. 🙂

I suppose that’s all I really wanted to say for today. That and that I’ll be back to my usual blogging shenanigans; talking about my life, pets, running, just how badly I”m freaking out about my 3rd half marathon next month, how I feel about missing what should have been my first “official” 10k that took place yesterday, and all sorts of other randomness that hopefully you’ve all come to know and love. 😉 I also desperately need to get caught up with all of the blogs and people I follow! I’ve been pretty terrible about that lately…

But anyways, I hope you have a wonderful Sunday, are enjoying racing season and whatever training/racing that’s in your immediate future. 🙂

Remember that people care. I care. You are not alone.

Finn’s Pedigree

Finn’s ABCA certificate of registration came in the mail yesterday! I am so absolutely beyond excited about that!! He’s the first dog that’s belonged to me that’s been registered to a breed registry and therefore the first dog that I can look back at his family history and actually see what the dogs look like, know how good they were at herding/working, and maybe even find out about any medical issues his relatives have had. That’s some pretty exciting and super useful stuff if you ask me!!

img_3506

Finn ABC 445445

On his certificate the ABCA includes 5 generations (including Finn) of dogs, their registry numbers, and their owners and breeders, and where they are from. That’s cool and all, but that’s not exactly much information. I mean, I want to know as much about these dogs as I can! So I’ve taken it upon myself to find out what I can about Finn’s lineage. And I’ve already found some pretty interesting stuff already and I wanted to share it here with you guys, even though this is more of a running blog haha. I just think this kinda stuff is so super neat!

I’ve met his parent’s in person (Shome and Ria Show Me Mo. Both of their names kinda reference the show me state, which is Missouri’s unofficial nickname and that’s where their owner is from. I think that’s pretty neat. 🙂 ), and can ask their owner anything I want to know about them. Apparently he likes to stay in contact with the people who buys his puppies so I’m not to worried about them as I’m sure Luke and I will spend plenty of time talking to him as Finn gets older.

But anyway, so far I’ve been able to find some information about two of his great great grandfathers and it’s some really impressive stuff!

First I found out a little bit about Dog ABC 293065. Haha after a bit of digging around in the interwebs, I actually found his current owner’s Facebook page! According to him, Dog is a fantastic working cattle dog and has had a long career as an outstanding stud dog. Plus I mean, look at him! He’s a super handsome boy. 🙂 Oh and it looks like he’s still alive! His owner’s Facebook page has a few photos of him from last year so that’s pretty neat.

I also found Rocking G’s Spurs ABC 35996! He’s actually the dog Finn’s breeder told Luke and I about! He has an absolutely amazing career as a cattle dog which included many many different trial wins;

  • Gulf Coast Cowdog Association Open Dog of the year 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001
  • Gulf Coast Cowdog Association Reserve Champion Dog of the year 1998, 1999
  • Winner of the 2000 World Champion Cowdog Challenge in Reno, Nevada against 60 dogs

And there is a some more information about him and the other dogs from Rocking G Kennels on their website. They’ve got some pretty impressive border collies.

So far those two are the only dogs I’ve really been able to find much information about, but I’m sure if I keep digging I’ll be able to find a few more. And plus I know where to find Spurs’ pedigree, so if I really want to, I can look up the dogs on that and probably find out more about Finn’s great great great, great great great great, and great great great great great grandparents if I really wanted to go that far back haha. But for now I’m probably going to stick to the dogs on Finn’s certificate. 😉

Anyway, seeing that Finn comes from a long line of several different amazing cattle dogs, explains why his herding instincts are so good! Hopefully once he’s around a year old Luke and I are going to take him to someone who trains border collies (so far we’ve only been able to find people in Texas, Oklahoma, Southern Missouri, and Illinois, so we’re going to have to drive pretty far to do it) and we’re going to see if we can’t teach him how to herd some cows! And maybe he’s inherited some of his great great grandparents’ talents. That would be pretty sweet!

But yeah, I’m doing talking about dogs (for now).

Happy Saturday!

Will Run For Pizza, Mornings Are Hard, A Garden Update, And Other Saturday Stuff

It seems like my rest days are always jam packed with all sorts of activities and things that need to get done, and this Friday was no different. Luke and I finally got Finn into the vet for his last round of puppy shots and got him started on heart worm and flea/tick prevention. Now we just have to wait a few weeks to get his rabies vaccine and then he’ll be good to go until next year!

Luke and I had made bets about how he was going to handle being at the vet’s office, meeting new people, and then getting his shots. For the most part he acted pretty much how we thought he would. He was super excited to meet everyone, the other dogs in the waiting room made him kinda nervous but he handled it well, and he even enjoyed getting on the scale to be weighed (he’s gained 10 pounds since we got him! He was 11 pounds when we brought him home and yesterday at the vet he weighed in at 21 pounds. He’s growing so fast!!). We were both surprised at how well he handled the shots though. He can be a really big baby at home sometimes. Like when he’s chasing the cat and she scratches him, or getting too rough with Lily so she nips at him. The way he cries you’d swear he was dying… But the shots didn’t phase him at all, which was great! And he left the vet’s with a clean bill of health. 🙂

img_2876

After Finn’s appointment Luke and I took all of the dogs to the dog park, dropped them back off and went grocery shopping, went to the DMV which was a whole thing. Luke wanted to renew the tags on his car and his brother’s car first thing in the morning, but his brother was at his girlfriends the night before and didn’t get us his insurance card until 10:30 am. So by then there was a 4 hour wait at the DMV closest to us, so we drove 40 minutes away to the other one that only had a 1 hour 40 minute wait. So while we were waiting for our turn we ate some lunch and then went to Khols because I really really really need some summer clothes. While we we’re there I ment to only get “real” clothes since I have plenty of active wear, but I absolutely needed to get this shirt. I mean, it’s a very accurate statement! And I’m totally going to wear it as a regular shirt anyway. 😉

img_2890

After our little shopping adventure we got into the DMV just as our number was called, got all of that taken care of and drove back home. Once we got back Luke mowed the backyard while I did a little bit of weeding in the garden and then played with the dogs. After that it was about 3:30 pm and we had every intention of calling it a day and to spend our evening hanging out and playing video games or whatever. Until we realized we had forgotten to pick up a few things. So we piled back into the car, drove to Walmart and got what we needed, along with a huge water bottle/jug thing that holds 2 liters of water. I’m pretty darn excited about that. And then went back home and around 4:40 pm we called it a day. 🙂

img_2893

Seriously though, grocery day is my favorite day! Plus look how happy and healthy our cart is. 🙂

It was really pretty outside yesterday. I think the high was around 77 degrees which is a little hot for my tastes, but I can admit that partly cloudy, warm, sunny days are kinda nice. But once it starts getting really warm it starts getting really hard for me to sleep. I get so hot so easily and being hot is super uncomfortable for me and that makes it hard to sleep… Which makes mornings really hard. Especially mornings when I try to wake up earlier, like I did today. I got up at 5 am, let the dogs out, then went right back to bed and didn’t get back up until 6:40. And even then I really didn’t want to get up. But I knew every extra second I spent in bed was just another second that the sun spent getting higher in the sky and the hotter the pavement was getting. Yuck. I hate warm weather running.

Luckily I did do a few things last night that made this morning a tiny bit easier. I prepped my coffee maker and had my coffee mug, honey, and spoon all sitting on the counter and ready to go. So I didn’t have to fumble around for all of that. All I had to do was press a button and get my soy milk out of the fridge, so that was really nice. I also laid out my running gear in one place, so I didn’t have to run around all over the house looking for it. So at least things were a little bit easier. But I still didn’t get out on the road until around 8 am because I procrastinated with breakfast. Oh well, baby steps right? Tomorrow I’m totally getting out on the road earlier for my long run.

I totally wish I would have done that today. My run was hot, slow, and slightly miserable. Getting up and out the door about 2 hours earlier probably would have helped a lot but oh well, I got it done and I’m probably better for it. Sometimes I kinda wish I enjoyed the warm weather a little bit more, but I’m a cold weather person through and through and that’s not going to change anytime soon.

img_2904

Also, how pretty is my strawberry plant?! I’ve never seen a strawberry plant with such vibrant pink flowers. From what I’ve seen they’re usually a paler shade of pink. I’m not complaining though, it’s so super pretty. 🙂 It’s got quite a few flowers growing on it (this is the only one pictured because it’s the biggest and prettiest) so I’m hoping I end up with a bunch of berries! Nothing is better than a fresh picked strawberry that’s still warm from the sun!

The rest of my garden is doing pretty well too! My broccoli, brussel sprouts, and lettuce are all coming up and growing! I’ve even been able to weed out some of the weaker plants so I’d say they’re off to a good start! My carrots and onions aren’t doing as well though. Only a few carrot plants have popped up and they haven’t really grown much yet. And I haven’t been able to find any of my onion plants yet. I’m really hoping they’ll catch up eventually, but honestly our soil isn’t really any good for root plants. It’s got too much clay in it. What I really need to do is mix some sand in the plots that I want to grow root plants in, but since I’ve already planted the seeds it’s a little late for that. Maybe next year though.

And oh my gosh you guys! I cannot even begin to describe to you how freaking exited I am about my peach tree!!! It’s covered in all sorts of little, green, baby peaches, and it’s just super green and lush looking in general. It didn’t produce any peaches last year but it did a lot of growing. So I’m hoping this year it stops growing and produces a lot of peaches, and it looks like it just might! But I guess we’ll still have to wait and see what happens with it. 🙂

Tiny little peach!

Haha I guess I got a little bit off track there, but anyways…After my run I enjoyed a nice post run shower Gatorade. Yup. Some people drink shower beer, but I prefer a nice cold Gatorade after a warm weather run. Especially since I tend to get really bad headaches if I don’t drink some kind of electrolyte replacement after warmer run, and the shower just seems like a really good place to do it.

img_2905

I’ve been in a very green mood lately, and I think my shampoo/conditioner, Gatorade, and green instagram snapchat caption proves it. 😉

After my shower shenanigans, I gathered up my laptop and giant water bottle so I could do some blogging while hanging out with the dogs in the backyard. Aside from the fact that it was really hard to read my laptop screen in the sun, that was really nice! Our backyard is really green (told you, I’m all about the color green right now) and pretty. Especially since Luke mowed it yesterday. And I don’t care what anyone else says, the Midwest is just a super pretty place in general. Sure we don’t have any big mountains, or red dirt, or ocean views, or anything like that. But we do have beautiful trees (at least until you get into western Kansas), plenty of wooded areas (the woods is my favorite), fields full of lush green grass and beautiful wildflowers, pretty rolling hills all through out Missouri and the part of Kansas I live in, and I even think all the corn and bean fields are pretty in their own way. And don’t even get me started on old farm houses and barns. Those are the best. Oh and all the cows are super neat too.

I realize that I just went on a really weird tangent, but I really do love living in the Midwest.

After hanging outside for a bit I made myself a bacon, egg, and guacamole sandwich. Oh man that was the best thing ever! I mean, you already can’t beat a bacon and egg sandwich, and the guacamole just made it that much better! 🙂 Once that was all shoved into my face-hole I got to work on the mounds and mounds of dirty clothes that were all over my bedroom and bathroom. I’m not entirely sure how just Luke and I create so much laundry, but we totally do haha. While I had the washer and dryer running I got to cleaning the rest of the house, since I was kinda in a cleaning mood after that. I wish I had hardcore cleaning moods more often. My house would be much more tidy if that were the case, but alas, cleaning sucks total ass.

img_2914

Around 4:30 pm we decided to take the dogs to the dog park. Dean is teaching Finn to chase birds so that’s a lot of fun to watch. They just run around the big open feild flushing birds out of the grass. Poor Finn has little legs and can’t quite keep up with Dean yet, but he sure tries! He’s also learning how to stay in one place until released. Lily and Dean are already really good at that, but Finn was sure happy to sit still after running around with Dean for a while.

Now we’re home and probably just going to hang out for the rest of the evening. 😊

Do you run for pizza? 😉

Do you think grocery shopping is fun?

How was your Saturday? Do anything exciting?

What I Ate Wednesday: 4/12/15

Fucking Finn decided to wake up at 4:30 in the morning…and then proceed to whine and cry until 6. He didn’t want to eat or drink or go outside. He just wanted to get up and for everyone else to be up with him. Around 6:30 I finally got him to quit being needy and go outside and play with Dean while I made and ate breakfast, and then around 8 am he came back inside and all he wanted to do was cuddle and sleep. Little bastard.

img_2791

On top of Finn waking everyone up super early, I spent most of the night tossing and turning so that really sucks. I tend to over eat and eat a bunch of junk the day after a not so great night’s sleep. And unfortunately that tends to happen to me a lot. For the most part, if I can fall asleep I’m usually good (although that’s not always true), but falling asleep tends to be really hard for me. Both of my sisters have the same problem and I think my mom does too, so maybe its a genetic thing. Does anyone have any tips on how to make falling asleep easier that doesn’t involve medication? I’ve tried melatonin supplements before but they didn’t really do much for me. Chamomile tea definitely helps me relax, but it’s never really helped me sleep. Same with pretty much every “bed time yoga” video there is on YouTube. It just really sucks that something so necessary and important is so hard to accomplish.

Anyways, I figured a “what I ate Wednesday” post would be a good idea. At the very least it helped me stay accountable and not go completely off the wall with my eating just because I’m tired.

Breakfast:

  • french toast (2 slices of whole wheat bread, 1 egg, 1/4 cup soy milk, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and some cinnamon, fried in 1 tbs coconut oil)
  • black coffee

I figured a little treat was in order for this morning, so I made myself some french toast. All things considered though, french toast really isn’t all that bad. I mean, obviously mine had a good amount of sugar in it, but it had a little bit of protein, whole grains, and healthy fats, so all in all, not a bad way to start the day!

img_2805

Lunch:

  • tri colored rotini with tomato/basil/garlic pasta sauce

I probably should have added some veggies to that, but I didn’t so whatever.

img_2807

After lunch I walked all 3 dogs then spent 25 minutes on my stationary bike. According to my training scheduled, I was supposed to cross train for an hour but I got super bored around 23 minutes so I quit at 25 haha. Oh well, at least I crossed trained for a little bit. 🙂

Snack:

  • fresh pineapple
  • A nature valley oats and honey bar

img_2810Dinner:

  • protein shake (1 frozen banana, scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 cup vanilla soy milk)

I kinda forgot how good a nice cold protein shake could be on a warm day. Honestly a smoothie would have been better, but aside from frozen bananas I don’t have any smoothie fixing. So I guess that’s just going to have to wait for my next grocery trip.

I am literally the world’s worst selfier. 😂

I suppose all in all that’s not too bad for a day of eating! As usual eating enough vegetables is my biggest downfall. But veggies are just no fun! I’d rather eat fruit or French toast haha. Oh well, at least I didn’t eat a bunch of junk or anything. 😃

April 5th, 2017

Yesterday I got to hang out with one of my oldest and best friends! We’ve known each other since kindergarten and had gone to school together all through grade school and high school. Ah the joys of going to small private schools. Anyway, we never get to see each other anymore. I live in Kansas and she lives in Missouri around the STL area where we both grew up, we’re both married, she has a baby now, life happens, ya know?

Well she just so happened to be in the KC area yesterday. She had some training and classes she needed to do for work at the Garmin world headquarters, which is 15 minutes away from my house. So she messaged me and told me what was going on, so I told her to come over the second she got the chance, and she did. 🙂 Once she finished with her thing at Garmin she came to my house and we hung out and talked for a while. She was supposed to go out to dinner with some people from her classes and then go sleep at a hotel, but once Luke got home from work (they were friends in grade school as well) we all got to talking and catching up and she just couldn’t bring herself to leave. So she ended up eating dinner with us, and then Luke and I convinced her to stay the night at our house instead of all alone at a hotel.

So once my brother in law got home from work we all decided to go to a bar to play pool and darts. That was a lot of fun! We were there for about an hour and a half. We got in a few games of pool and darts, but by the end the boys ended up watching a baseball game on TV while my friend and I did more chatting. It was a great time. 🙂 We made it home around 10:40 pm, fed all the animals, Luke showered and then we all went to bed.

Well, at least we tried to go to bed. Finn was totally thrown off of his scheduled and was confused and upset, so he didn’t want to sleep. Eventually we let him out of the crate and in bed with us (I wasn’t a fan of that, but I was willing to try anything at that point). That didn’t work though. He spent several hours chewing on me, rolling around on the bed, and just bothering me in general. Around 2 am he started biting my face at that was the last straw, so I threw his ass back in the crate, where he cried for a while but then eventually fell asleep. Once he was asleep, Lily started whining. She probably had to pee, but it was raining and every once in a while there would be a little clap of thunder and she absolutely will not go outside if there’s any thunder, so she just whined and cried the rest of the night. Fun times…

And then to top it all off, Finn decided to wake up at 6 am. That kinda sucked, but it was probably a good thing. My friend was up by then and Luke had already left for work, so I would have felt bad just leaving her alone in the living room. So we ate a little snack, played with the dogs, and talked until about 7:20 am, when she had to head back over to Garmin and finish her classes, and then she’s driving 4 and 1/2 hours back home. I’m super glad we got to catch up and hang out and she said she’s going to try to come out here with her husband and baby sometime soon, and I sure hope she does! And of course after she left all Finn wanted to do was sleep…

img_2668

Oh but he couldn’t sleep on his own, he had to be on my lap. I swear sometimes he’s just as needy as a human child haha. So I let him sleep for a while and then around 9:30 am I made him get up and go outside to play with Dean while I put in 30 minutes on the stationary bike. I actually had an interval workout on the schedule for today and my cross training workout wasn’t supposed to happen until tomorrow, but since I got hardly any sleep last night I decided to switch the days around. I didn’t think I would have been able to go at the intervals hard enough with my lack of sleep, plus running didn’t exactly sound like fun anyway. Well neither did the stationary bike, but whatever.

After that I showered, had lunch, took a very necessary nap, cleaned, walked the dogs, worked on a few dogs posts, yada yada yada, all that good/slightly boring everyday stuff. But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I like routine and being on a consistent scheduled makes me a super happy camper. 🙂

I hope you’ve had a wonderful day!

~Ashley

Rest Day Ramblings

I am very very very glad that today was a rest day! I guess the combination of a new puppy, weird sleep scheduled, attempting to stick with my training plan, but not really being able to do as much recovery stuff as I’d like to has all caught up with me today. Well, yesterday actually. For my long run yesterday I wanted to go for 7-9 ish miles, but I quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen. So I went for 5 and called it good. 🙂 And it was pretty good. I felt tired and my legs didn’t want to move, but they weren’t bad miles by any means. I did, however, wake up with super sore legs and that kinda sucks, but oh well.

Processed with Rookie Cam

How pretty is my peach tree! I can’t wait for fresh peaches this summer!

Anyway, for the last two or three days, Finn’s been waking up and crying at around 1 in the morning. He doesn’t have to pee or anything, trust me I’ve tried. He just wants to wake up and play. So I’ve been ignoring him when he does it. Luckily he doesn’t cry for very long, but it still sucks having your sleep interrupted like that. Especially for a few days in a row…He’s lucky he’s so cute or else I’d be mad at him haha. I’m really hoping he picks up on our scheduled soon though. I’d also be really happy if he’d finally get on board with the whole crate training thing. He’s not a fan of the crate and cries every time he gets put in it, even when he’s super tired. I’ve never had a little puppy like him fight crate training so hard, but Luke and I are being super persistent. He needs to learn.

img_2486

He prefers sleeping on people’s laps.

Staying on the subject of dogs, well kind of at least. We’ve had some very much needed rain over the weekend! And it’s supposed to be pretty rainy for most of this week as well, which is great! It’s been super duper dry here in Kansas and we really need the rain. Plus it’s great for our garden! I’m hoping by the end of the week some of the seeds we planted will germinate and then start coming up. The only problem with all of the rain is mud. Lots and lots of mud. And when you have 3 border collies, 2 of which have super hairy feet and are basically impossible to get all of the mud out unless they get a full blown bath, 1 puppy who likes to roll around in the mud, and 1 dog that doesn’t belong to you but lives in your house and also likes to roll around in the mud, well I think you get where I’m going with this. My floors are basically just made of mud at this point. There’s dirt everywhere. I feel like my house is never going to be clean ever again.

img_2506

Dean is well aware of how dirty he is and how unhappy I am about it. Ah the joys of dog ownership. 😉

So along with all of the muddy nastiness, our  front loading washing machine has been completely fucked up. A while back Luke and I had to take it all apart just to clean out a filter that was super hard to get to. After we did that it started working perfectly fine again. For about a week…After that it started reading all sorts of weird error codes, the door wouldn’t unlock unless you unplugged it for an hour and then plugged it back in, it would just randomly fill with water so I had to start turning it off, and eventually it stopped draining and so for about a week it was just full of nasty, mildew-y water and it smelled terrible. Needless to say, I haven’t really been able to get much laundry done.

Yesterday Luke and I were completely fed up with it and didn’t want to take it apart again, so we went out and bought a top loading washing machine. While we were at the store, we figured we might as well get a new vacuum as well. Ours is pretty old, and is constantly getting clogged with dog hair, because my brother-in-law’s dog sheds like freaking crazy (I really need to start brushing him every day…). So we talked to a sales associate, and he recommended a Dyson. He has the exact model that we bought, along with 2 Irish Setters (which he showed us pictures of haha). That’s actually why we ended up buying this vacuum. He said he’s had his for two years and it’s never gotten clogged, but even if it did get clogged this vacuum has a bunch of ways to clear anything out without having to take the whole thing apart, which totally sold me! I’m very much tired of having to take apart my old vacuum. It was a little more expensive then we would have liked, but we’re hoping that means we wont have to replace it anytime soon.

img_2516

You know you’re an adult when you get excited about a new vacuum and washing machine haha.

Most of my rest day has been spent doing laundry and battling the invasion of the mud and dirt with my fancy new vacuum. It’s pretty much a loosing battle, but hey, I can try! I’m just excited that I can finally do laundry again! Between being a runner, having a husband (he can be kinda messy and doesn’t know how to do laundry 😉 ), and having so many pets means that our laundry piles up very quickly! Plus the house smells sooo much better now that we’ve got the old washing machine that was full of gross water out of the house. It’s currently sitting in the garage, and I’m not sure what we’re going to do with it now, but at least we’ve got one problem solved!

So anyways, I ate like total shit last week. Too much junk, too much sugar, not enough vegetables, not enough water. It wasn’t pretty…So when I stepped onto the scale this morning I thought that I had probably gained a pound or two, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that I didn’t gain anything! I weighed in at 158.5 pounds, which is what I weighed last week. I have absolutely no idea how they heck that happened, but I’m sure not complaining! I also ate pretty darn well today, drank enough water, and am feeling pretty good! I’m definitely feeling like I’m back on track, have my food intake back under control, and hopefully I’ll start loosing some weight again. 🙂 I really want to not hate the way I look in a swimsuit while we’re in Florida in July, I wanna look awesome for the Green Day concert in August, I want to be a better, more efficient runner, and I want to be an all around healthier person. I’ve gotta keep reminding myself of those things whenever I make food choices.

I hope your week is off to a great start! Happy Monday everyone!

~Ashley

Weekly Recap: March 2oth-26th, 2017

This week has been a little bit hectic! With a new puppy in the house we’re all trying to learn and adjust to everyone’s schedules, so my workouts have been kinda all over the place. Luckily this was more of a rest week so I’ve had a few rest days and shorter runs to work with. 🙂

Monday:

  • Rest Day

And thank goodness for that! Mr. Finn has been waking up anywhere around 5-6 in the morning, so I’ve been having to adjust to that. Haha that’s probably good for me though, I really do need to start getting up earlier anyway.

Tuesday:

  • 1.5 miles

Had intervals scheduled for Tuesday, but my asthma was acting up so I had to take it easy and then eventually call it quits. Oh well, it happens.

Wednesday:

  • Rest Day

Was supposed to be a cross training day, but that didn’t happen. That’s all right though running around with a 12 week old puppy is basically cross training anyway.

Thursday:

  • Intervals
  • 20 minutes of yoga

The whole asthma situation  was a lot better on Thursday! Got my interval work done and it went pretty well. It was really really tough, but I’m glad I got it done. 🙂

Friday:

  • Rest Day

Yesterday I considered doing an easy mile or two on Friday morning, but I didn’t sleep well the night before and yet again Finn woke me up at 5 am. After I took him outside we went back inside and I went back to sleep for another hour then abandoned any thoughts of running. But like I said earlier in this post, this is kind of a rest week and a rest day was what was on the scheduled for Friday anyway, so that’s what I decided to do. 🙂

Saturday:

  • 3.5 miles
  • 15 minutes of stretching/foam rolling

Whew, this run was a lot of fun! Started out with a 30 minute fartleck workout and enddd with about 14 minutes of easy running. 🙂

Sunday:

  • 5 miles
  • 10 minutes of yoga

I wanted to go a little bit longer today but I quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen. So I went for 5 miles and called it good. 🏃🏻‍♀️👍🏻😄 Also, how pretty is my peach tree?! I’m very much looking forward to fresh peaches this summer!

This little guy has made this week a lot of fun!
