February 17th, 2018

Hello friends! I hope everyone has had a super Saturday! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

This photo is kind of irrelevant haha. I’ve just been wearing these socks all day and they make me super happy. πŸ˜‰

I’m not sure if I can describe my Saturday as “super”, but I did have a pretty good day. πŸ™‚ I’m still not running thanks to my toe, but it is starting to look and feel a lot better! And the tooth that had the root canal seems to be healing nicely as well! It’s still a little sore, especially where I had the Novocaine shots, but other than that it’s doing great! Now I just need to get a crown on it and it should be good to go! I’m still feeling a little bit itchy from the antibiotics I had though (I had an allergic reaction to them). I only took two doses of it so I was hoping the rash wouldn’t last for very long, and for the most part it’s gone, I’ve just got a few itchy spots left and it’s kind of obnoxious haha. But all in all, my ailments are healing and I’m very happy about that! I was in kind of miserable shape there for a little bit, so it feels great to finally be on the mend!

Just for comparison, the photos below show my toe on February 7th, and 16th. So it’s definitely healing! I’m still kinda limping around on it, but it definitely feels better than it did on the 7th when I hurt it!

It’s kind of annoying that I’m always doing this kind of stuff my myself though. I swear almost every time I get hurt and am unable to run, it happens because I did something stupid or klutzy (like slipping, falling, and hitting my toe on the edge of my couch). Most of my injuries don’t come from running, although I have had my fair share of those as well. I’m just super injury prone, I guess.

This is my husband’s assessment of my life. It’s also the reason he won’t let me get on the roof to take down our Christmas lights EVEN THOUGH IT”S THE MIDDLE OF FEBRUARY!!!Β

Anyway, 4 years ago today to my parents’ extreme disappointment, I got my second tattoo!

Haha I guess they weren’t too fond of their eldest daughter getting a relatively large, black skull permanently put onto her body. πŸ˜‰ I, on the other hand, think it’s fucking fantastic! A lot of people don’t seem to agree with me on that one though, but that just makes me like it even more haha. The artist who did it was pretty awesome! She did a tattoo on Luke a few days before she did mine and they both turned out really great! I bled a lot during this one (it took a lot of ink haha), but even so there is very little visible scaring and 4 years later it still looks really good!

And funnily enough, February 17th also just so happens to be Billie Joe Armstrong’s birthday! That didn’t happen on purpose, it was just a really weird coincidence. Still kinda neat though. πŸ™‚ So yeah, wishing the happiest of birthdays to my favorite front-man!

I wish I knew who to properly credit this photo for! All I know is that I found it on pinterest.Β

Speaking of tattoos, I want another one (or two, or ten. πŸ˜‰ ). So does Luke. And it would appear that we will be going on another family vacation this summer (this year we’re going to Branson, MO), and I’m thinking we might end up coming home from that trip with a little more ink. πŸ˜‰ We’ll have to wait and see, but we both have several ideas of things we want done, and I’m pretty sure we’re just going to start making it a tradition to get tattooed while we’re on vacation, because why not?! Haha I mean, we both got tattooed while we were in Florida and that was a lot of fun! πŸ™‚ I also kinda want another ear piercing, but I absolutely hate healing piercings. It usually takes my body a while to finally get used to them. So maybe that wont happen. Or maybe it will. I can’t make up my mind haha.

But anyway, that’s all I’ve got for today. Haha I don’t have a lot going on right now, especially since I’m not currently running, so I feel like I don’t have a lot to talk about. Oh well. Hopefully it wont be too much longer until I can run again!

Until next time,

The Last 10 Photos On My Phone And The Story Behind Them

I saw this idea on one of those “blog post ideas” blog posts, on a blog about blogging that I found on Pintrest hahaha. Does anyone else find blogs about blogging super duper annoying? Like, “here’s a list of 100 of the most generic blog post ideas ever”. Or “here’s how I went from no readers to 304957498679387520984 readers in only 3 months!”.Β  Riiiight I’m sure me paying a bazillion dollars for you’re online guide is really gonna teach me how to accomplish anything. Especially since it’s probably the most generic, vague thing ever. Haha I don’t even know why I bother reading those blogs every once in a while. I always end up super annoyed with how fake the people are and how hard they try to push their guides, tutorials, and “classes” onto people. Whatever. πŸ˜‰

But I did see this idea for a blog post and I did think it would be pretty fun! Especially considering I take photos of just about everything, and have an interesting collection of memes and other photos from the internet, so I definitely have some fun ones on my phone! Not gonna lie though, I cheated a little bit and didn’t use any of the photos that I’ve posted here or on instagram. I figured seeing them for the 8 billionth time would be boring, so I skipped those. But other than that, these really are the last 10 photos on my phone. πŸ™‚

10. Super Spiffy New Socks!

I love socks! Especially thick, warm socks, because unless it’s super hot outside, my feet are always freezing cold. The problem is that I’m also really super good at wearing holes into my socks (and even shoes!) at the very ball of my feet. I’m not sure how I do it, but that means I’m often obtaining new socks. Haha and the more exciting the better! I saw these at Hot Topic and I had to get them because the are adorable!

9. The Continuing Meme War.Β

So my husband and I are at all times in the middle of a meme war. We both spend an absurd amount of time scouring facebook, ifunny, Instagram, Pintrest, and a plethora of other pages looking for the best memes/internet posts, constantly trying to one up each other. Anything involving dogs is usually a very big win, but border collies are even better! πŸ˜‰ Also, this is the best news headline I’ve ever seen.

8. Does This Even SurpriseΒ Anyone Anymore?

Of course I have a bunch of Green Day photos on my phone that I didn’t even take…Haha I want to say I got this photo from greendayauthority.com, but I couldn’t tell you with any certainty. Which really sucks because it’s a great photo from the Uno, Dos, Tre tour and I would love to give the photographer credit for their work (I always try to do that anyway). But anyway, this is one of my all time favorite photos from a Green Day show, and it’s currently the lock screen on my phone haha.

7. Partially Purple Hair, Don’t care.Β

Unfortunatly it’s not this purple anymore. It’s faded out super fast and that really sucks. But it was fun while it lasted (and I might end up doing it again). And in case anyone was wondering, I am the queen of bad selfies.

6. My AppendixΒ Tried To Kill Me Once. Now I’m Short One Appendix.Β

Another meme from the meme wars. My husband actually sent this one to me, because I had an appendectomy when I was 13. Haha I swear I know more about appendixes now that I don’t have one, than I did back when I actually still had mine!

5. Winchester Knows How To Get Comfy.Β

Earlier this week Luke and I started cleaning out my brother-in-law’s old room since he doesn’t live here anymore, but left a piss ton of his stuff behind. So we packed up most of it and have it all in a pile for him to come take. Winchester found said pile and the dog bed on the very top of it all. He is currently very happy about this situation.

Haha alright, that was actually the most recent photo that I’ve taken that I haven’t shared anywhere yet. I underestimated how many photo’s I’ve actually posted here and on my other social media accounts, so I had to back track a litter further into my camera roll for the next 5 photos hahahaha.

4. I Am One Of Those Melodramatic Fools

My Basket Case eyeliner!! I’ve yet to figure out how to make it work on the tops of my eyes, but I’ve definitely got the messy look down on the bottom and I absolutely love it! πŸ™‚

3. It’s Not Uncommon to Find Rabbits On My Furniture.Β

Daisy isn’t a fan of being picked up, or pet. But she does like the chill on the couch next to people and rub her face all over them.

2. My First Tattoo, Featuring My Appendectomy Scar.Β

It is incredibly hard for me to get a decent photo of this thing, which is exactly what I was trying to accomplish haha. It always ends up looking weird and distorted because of the weird angle. Haha oh well. It’s not like it’s a great tattoo anyway, but it’s mine and I love it. It’s also surprisingly holding up pretty well after 6 years of me having it. I was a little worried about all of the super light colors the artist used because those tend to fade faster on some people, but really the only color that actually faded out was some bright orange he put in between the petals. But the yellow, green, and bright pink has held up pretty well!

1. Go Figure The Last One Is Another Green Day Thing…

I had to go all the way back to December 28th for this one! Haha I share a lot of my photos on social media…Anyway, obviously I stole this from Billie Joe Armstrong’s Instagram account. But I liked the message to the “young rock n rollers”, so I screen shot it so I can have it forever hahaha. I’m such a total fan girl….

Alrighy then! Those were the last 10 photos on my phone (that weren’t plastered all over social media) and the stories behind them! I really hope you enjoyed this post because I thought it was a lot of fun and I just might end up doing this again! πŸ™‚

Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Thursday Things

I feel like there was quite a bit of good feminine vibes and womanly comradery on the post about periods I wrote on Tuesday. It was pretty great! I deffinitely think that’s something that needs to be talked about more! Although one person didn’t seem to like the quote from Billie Joe Armstrong that I included in the post. This one, to be exact!

I don’t have the exact source for this photo, but I found it on Pintrest. πŸ˜‰

Ah, I love it! It’s one of my favorite quotes. πŸ™‚

Anyway, someone called it “crude” and stated that they don’t think Billie Joe Armstrong will be remembered as a musician. Not gonna lie, I kinda laughed to myself about that. Billie Joe is the singer/song writer/guitarist in Green Day, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, with over 85 million records sold world wide, andΒ  who just so happened to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2015 during their first year of eligibility. So you’re right, Billie Joe Armstrong wont be remembered as a musician. He’ll be remembered as aΒ legendaryΒ musician.

Haha I’m well aware that making that argument is kinda pointless and that it really doesn’t matter. But I like talking about Green Day and I’m gonna jump at any opportunity I have to do it! They are my favorite.

But anyway, the point I want to make here is that obviously everyone is different. We all have different tastes, opinions, and feelings about certain things. And that’s totally awesome! Yay for being different and unique individuals with our own personal thoughts and feelings! I really don’t care if you don’t like Green Day, punk rock (and I’m warning everyone now, I refuse to get into the argument about what is or isn’t “punk”, so don’t try to start it with me), and the rebellious “fuck ’em all”, “give ’em hell” attitude that comes with things like that. I think it’s fucking great and it feel right and real to me! But that just doesn’t do it for some people and I get that! But I don’t understand the point of making negative comments about the things other people like just because you don’t like it (unless the thing that person likes is causing actual harm to someone, but that’s a whole other issue). Seriously! Why?? I don’t get it. You know what I’m not a fan of? Cheesy romance novels. But I’m not gonna go around telling people who read and enjoy them that they’re terrible books and that it’s a shame that they talk about them.

Whatever. The other point I’m trying to make here is that I’m not going to change what I like, do, or post here onΒ my blog, just because someone doesn’t like it. Not gonna happen. I’m gonna keep doing me, and if you don’t like it, you can kindly fuck off.

I know that came off kind of aggressive, but come on, IΒ hadΒ to do it! πŸ˜‰ Seriously though, if you don’t like what I talk about or post here, then don’t read it. I feel like it should be as simple as that.

Anyways, We’ve been having some kind of weird combination of winter and spring going on here in Kansas. Earlier this week we got a little bit of snow, but today it’s 50 degrees and sunny and I already miss the winter…Although I can’t deny the appeal of a warmer sunny day, at least not all the time. πŸ˜‰ I didn’t end up running today. Mostly because yesterday it was in the 30’s and I was super excited about that, so my run ended up being a little bit harder than it should have been haha. Luckily that didn’t seem to re irritate my sore foot so that’s great! But I also didn’t want to push it haha. So I ended up spending a lot of time walking my dogs instead. Obviously that made them all super happy, so that was a definite win for today!

I also spent a little bit of time on my yoga mat, stretching and rolling out some sore spots. Not my favorite thing in the world to do, but I always feel so much better when I do it. Plus like I’ve mentioned before, I’m trying to do all of the little extra things to hopefully prevent me from obtaining any injuries. Because oh man am I good at getting those! πŸ˜‰ I probably should have done a little bit of strength work as well, but eh, I’m gonna stick with one boring thing at a time.

40 minutes of stretching/foam rolling goodness.

After that was done I spent the rest of my afternoon working on a few other blog posts and attempting to clean my house. Haha if you saw my post about mud a few days ago, well, most of my house still looks like that. Well, kinda. It’s notΒ asΒ bad anymore. But my backyard is currently a huuuge, muddy disaster, and the dogs just bring it all inside. Especially Finn and Dean. They like to spend most of their time outside running around, wrestling and herding each other. So they’re just covered head to tail in mud and dirt…Sometimes I legit just want to build a kennel out there and just have them live out there whenever it gets gross outside. That probably won’t happen though. Doing stuff like that can get expensive. Plus they would probably spend all night barking at the stray cat that likes to wander around in the easement behind our backyard and I don’t think our neighbors would appreciate that haha. So yeah, when it’s muddy outside it gets muddy inside, and I end up spending an absurd amount of time sweeping/vacuuming/mopping up mud.

Along with dealing with all of that, last night Luke and I also started cleaning out my brother-in-law’s room since he doesn’t live here anymore, and boxing up all of the stuff he left behind (and there was a lot of it for some reason). And then we moved the rabbits and ferrets in there, and at some point Luke also wants to move our gecko in there as well. So now we have a whole room dedicated to our petting zoo haha. It’s kinda nice having them all in one place and all of their messes contained into a single room though. πŸ™‚ So I also had to do some hardcore scrubbing of the floors where their cages used to be. Whew! It definitely feels good having all of that taken care of! And now we have more room in our bedroom/kitchen since there aren’t animal cages in there anymore, and that’s pretty sweet!

Alrighty then! I think that’s all I’ve got for today!

Happy Friday eve!!

You’re Green Day obsessed, partially purple haired, totally punk rock (yeah probably not hahaha), blogger friend,

January 23, 2018

Can we get really real today? Not like I’m not already really real here on this blog or anything hahaha. But today I want to talk a little bit about periods and that makes some people super uncomfortable for whatever reason. I think that’s kind of unfortunate because it’s just a normal part of life for most people with uteruses. Sure they can be kinda gross. As someone who’s been menstruating for about 10 years now I can personally attest to that. But there’s nothing weird or wrong or shameful about that, and if anyone thinks otherwise, they can go ahead and fuck right off.

This is kind of unrelated, but I just reminded myself of one of my all time favorite quotes from Billie Joe Armstrong;

I am a firm believer in telling assholes to fuck off.

Anyway, back to what I originally wanted to talk about…

Periods. They suck. And I think a lot of people who don’t menstruate may not know that, for some people at least, the week or so before you actually get your period sucks even worse. That’s right, I’m talking about the always wonderful PMS (sarcasm. So much sarcasm.). Most of the symptoms of PMS come from hormonal changes, and by they time most people actually start menstruating their hormones level out and the symptoms of PMS usually go away. I know that’s probably not true for some people, but I’m speaking from personal experience here; I’m usually super stoked when my periods start because that means the tiredness, excessive hunger, nausea (that’s right, nausea is a symptom of PMS), breast tenderness, irritability, and all of that other fun stuff (more sarcasm. Apparently I’m just full of it today), tend to go away, and all I’m usually left with is a little bit of cramping for the first day or so of my period, and a little bit of bloating. So really nothing too bad.

Now just a quick note, I am on birth control, so I could choose not to have a period if I wanted to. I did that once because a doctor that I ended up not really liking basically told me I should I do it because there was no reason for me to be having one. ( You do that by skipping the week you’re suppose to take the “reminder” pills and starting a new pack of birth control instead). Tried it. Hated it. Got a new doctor who I like much better and is much more supportive of the decisions I make with my body.

Anyway, like I said, usually the week before my period sucks ass. Mostly because I’m just so freaking tired, but that all goes away once my period starts. But sometimes that doesn’t happen and I end up being super crazy tired during my period as well. This doesn’t happen very often though, which is nice, but I’m definitely experiencing it this time around. Like, I got a decent night of sleep, but I still didn’t want to get up this morning and I definitely don’t want to do anything. Yesterday I did the whole “sit around and do nothing but watch Netflix” thing. And that’s all fine and good to do every once in a while, because honestly that just makes you more tired. The best cure for pre-menstrual/menstrual tiredness? Exercise. Go figure, right? It’s like, the last thing you want to do when you feel tired, irritable, and gross….

Actually I lied, I did spend most of yesterday not doing anything, but I did do 15 minutes of strength work and then spent about 45 minutes on my stationary bike. That was all fine and good, and it did help a little bit, but what I really probably should have done was run. I just couldn’t bring myself to actually go do it though. So the stationary bike seemed like a decent compromise to make with myself.

But I also told myself that if I was going to skip my run yesterday that I’d definitely have to run today, which was my plan, until it snowed again. Now if you’ve been reading this blog for a while you might already know that I love the snow and thing running in it is the most fun thing ever! Which it totally is!! But last Monday or possibly Wednesday when I did just that, I think I might have landed weird and hurt my right foot. It wasn’t anything too bad, but it does feel a little bit sore and I don’t think running on more snow would be very good for it at this point, so I guess I’m going to be hitting the stationary bike again today. Ugh, boring…but I guess I kinda did it to myself haha. Oh well. I’ll get over it. πŸ˜‰ Plus I am grateful that I’m lucky enough to actually have a stationary bike at home for when things like this happen. But I also think I’m still allowed to think that the stationary bike is super duper boring. πŸ˜‰

But anyway, that’s what’s going on with me today and I just felt like I needed to do a tiny bit of complaining. Plus I feel like it’s kind of important to be open about talking about periods and other normal bodily functions. There have been times in my life where I was made to feel shameful about my body because of menstruation and that’s absolute bullshit. It’s a totally normal thing and I think it’s important to talk about it so other girls and women know that they’re not alone in experiencing these things, and that there’s no reason to feel shame or disgust or anything of that nature about their body. I mean, being a woman can all ready be hard enough without feeling all of those things.

I know I’m kinda getting on a soapbox here, but it just brings me back to high school when teenage boys would pick on a girl and then ask say she must be on her period when she got pissed at him. Or asking another boy if he needs a tampon if he shows any shred of normal human emotion. Why are teenage boys such assholes?! And I’m not saying that teenage girls aren’t, but in this instance it’s usually the boys saying shit like that. But I digress…

If I can make one person feel a little more comfortable about the whole menstruation situation just by talking about it, I would be one happy camper.

But that’s all I’ve got for now, so Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I Am The Happiest Of Campers

Oh man you guys! Green Day was absolutely amazing last night!!! It was a fucking awesome show, the crowd was amazing, and it was an all around great experience! It looked like the band was having just as much fun as the crowd was! And right after the show, Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day’s frontman) got onto Facebook live and talked about how awesome the concert was, how much fun they had, and how great this tour has been. That was pretty awesome!!

Anyway, I’m exhausted emotionally and physically (haha sometimes I forget how much I can relate to some of their songs and how emotionally invested into their music I am.), I feel like I’m hungover even though I didn’t have anything to drink, but I’m still currently riding the high from last night! Haha I feel like those post concert blues are going to hit me at some point. They’re very similar to post race blues, actually. πŸ˜‰ But for now I’m the happiest, physically/mentally battered person you’ll ever meet. Haha I guess that’s pretty similar to finishing a hard race as well!

That’s all I’ve got for now. I’m going to go threw the photos I took, look for better photos on the internet, find the set list from last night (at this point I could tell you want songs they played, but not the exact order haha), gather my thoughts, rest, hydrate, shower, probably run, shower again, an THEN I’ll work on a full recap of the show.

We were kinda far away, so I didn’t get many good photos. But in all fairness, I wasn’t trying very hard haha.

Anyways, I hope your Friday was as amazing as mine was! I’m so happy right now! EVERYTHING IS GREEN DAY AND NOTHING HURTS!!! But if it wasn’t, smile, it’s Saturday! 😁
