The Last 10 Photos On My Phone And The Story Behind Them

I saw this idea on one of those “blog post ideas” blog posts, on a blog about blogging that I found on Pintrest hahaha. Does anyone else find blogs about blogging super duper annoying? Like, “here’s a list of 100 of the most generic blog post ideas ever”. Or “here’s how I went from no readers to 304957498679387520984 readers in only 3 months!”.  Riiiight I’m sure me paying a bazillion dollars for you’re online guide is really gonna teach me how to accomplish anything. Especially since it’s probably the most generic, vague thing ever. Haha I don’t even know why I bother reading those blogs every once in a while. I always end up super annoyed with how fake the people are and how hard they try to push their guides, tutorials, and “classes” onto people. Whatever. 😉

But I did see this idea for a blog post and I did think it would be pretty fun! Especially considering I take photos of just about everything, and have an interesting collection of memes and other photos from the internet, so I definitely have some fun ones on my phone! Not gonna lie though, I cheated a little bit and didn’t use any of the photos that I’ve posted here or on instagram. I figured seeing them for the 8 billionth time would be boring, so I skipped those. But other than that, these really are the last 10 photos on my phone. 🙂

10. Super Spiffy New Socks!

I love socks! Especially thick, warm socks, because unless it’s super hot outside, my feet are always freezing cold. The problem is that I’m also really super good at wearing holes into my socks (and even shoes!) at the very ball of my feet. I’m not sure how I do it, but that means I’m often obtaining new socks. Haha and the more exciting the better! I saw these at Hot Topic and I had to get them because the are adorable!

9. The Continuing Meme War.

So my husband and I are at all times in the middle of a meme war. We both spend an absurd amount of time scouring facebook, ifunny, Instagram, Pintrest, and a plethora of other pages looking for the best memes/internet posts, constantly trying to one up each other. Anything involving dogs is usually a very big win, but border collies are even better! 😉 Also, this is the best news headline I’ve ever seen.

8. Does This Even Surprise Anyone Anymore?

Of course I have a bunch of Green Day photos on my phone that I didn’t even take…Haha I want to say I got this photo from greendayauthority.com, but I couldn’t tell you with any certainty. Which really sucks because it’s a great photo from the Uno, Dos, Tre tour and I would love to give the photographer credit for their work (I always try to do that anyway). But anyway, this is one of my all time favorite photos from a Green Day show, and it’s currently the lock screen on my phone haha.

7. Partially Purple Hair, Don’t care.

Unfortunatly it’s not this purple anymore. It’s faded out super fast and that really sucks. But it was fun while it lasted (and I might end up doing it again). And in case anyone was wondering, I am the queen of bad selfies.

6. My Appendix Tried To Kill Me Once. Now I’m Short One Appendix.

Another meme from the meme wars. My husband actually sent this one to me, because I had an appendectomy when I was 13. Haha I swear I know more about appendixes now that I don’t have one, than I did back when I actually still had mine!

5. Winchester Knows How To Get Comfy.

Earlier this week Luke and I started cleaning out my brother-in-law’s old room since he doesn’t live here anymore, but left a piss ton of his stuff behind. So we packed up most of it and have it all in a pile for him to come take. Winchester found said pile and the dog bed on the very top of it all. He is currently very happy about this situation.

Haha alright, that was actually the most recent photo that I’ve taken that I haven’t shared anywhere yet. I underestimated how many photo’s I’ve actually posted here and on my other social media accounts, so I had to back track a litter further into my camera roll for the next 5 photos hahahaha.

4. I Am One Of Those Melodramatic Fools

My Basket Case eyeliner!! I’ve yet to figure out how to make it work on the tops of my eyes, but I’ve definitely got the messy look down on the bottom and I absolutely love it! 🙂

3. It’s Not Uncommon to Find Rabbits On My Furniture.

Daisy isn’t a fan of being picked up, or pet. But she does like the chill on the couch next to people and rub her face all over them.

2. My First Tattoo, Featuring My Appendectomy Scar.

It is incredibly hard for me to get a decent photo of this thing, which is exactly what I was trying to accomplish haha. It always ends up looking weird and distorted because of the weird angle. Haha oh well. It’s not like it’s a great tattoo anyway, but it’s mine and I love it. It’s also surprisingly holding up pretty well after 6 years of me having it. I was a little worried about all of the super light colors the artist used because those tend to fade faster on some people, but really the only color that actually faded out was some bright orange he put in between the petals. But the yellow, green, and bright pink has held up pretty well!

1. Go Figure The Last One Is Another Green Day Thing…

I had to go all the way back to December 28th for this one! Haha I share a lot of my photos on social media…Anyway, obviously I stole this from Billie Joe Armstrong’s Instagram account. But I liked the message to the “young rock n rollers”, so I screen shot it so I can have it forever hahaha. I’m such a total fan girl….

img_8630

Alrighy then! Those were the last 10 photos on my phone (that weren’t plastered all over social media) and the stories behind them! I really hope you enjoyed this post because I thought it was a lot of fun and I just might end up doing this again! 🙂

Have a great Saturday everyone!!

Hello November!!!!!

img_7427

I know, I know, I’m a day late. But we’ll get to that in a second. 😉

So, happy second day of November! November is definitely one of my favorite months out of the year. Actually, I think October-January is usually a lot of fun. I absolutely love all of the fall/winter/holiday festivities. But November is usually especially fun because I tend to have a lot going on during this month and of course this year is no different. So far here’s what I’ve got lined up for the wonderful month of November 2017;

11th – Longview Half Marathon (my 3rd half so far! 🙂 )

15th – My 26th Birthday

22nd – Drive to Longmont Colorado to spend Thanksgiving with my parents

23rd – Thanksgiving. Bring on the turkey and pumpkin pie (that Luke and I will be making by the way. 🙂 )

24th- Drive back to Kansas. So we wont be there long. But sometime is better than no time. 🙂

25th – Start Decorating for Christmas!

So yeah! That’s all the fun stuff I’ve got going on this month (so far, the list might get added to. 😉 ). But I’ve also got some not so fun stuff I have to do. Like take down my Halloween decorations (which I’ll probably do tomorrow) and go to the gynecologist on the 13th for my yearly check up (I swear that place is freaking hard to get into! I scheduled this appointment at the beginning of the year and they were already pretty booked up!).

But yeah, the reason I’m a day late with this post and didn’t exactly get to enjoy Halloween, is because I’ve been suffering from the chest cold from hell!! Yeah, remember the reason why Luke had to take a sick day on Monday? Yeah, it got me on Tuesday…I would get sick on one of my favorite holidays. Not like it really matters though. Since Halloween was on a Tuesday we didn’t really do anything fun, and it was pretty darn cold so we for real only got 8 trick or treater’s this year. That was kinda sad. I gave everyone a big handful of candy (big enough for an 11 year old kid dressed as Pennywise to go “woooow!!!” 😉 ) but we still have a shit ton of left over candy…Oh well.

Anyways, I caught the chest cold from hell on Tuesday and spent most of the day lying around feeling sorry for myself. Because I was too tired/weak feeling to do much else. By Wednesday I was in an even worse state. I couldn’t really stand up for too long because it made me dizzy (the joys of combining chest congestion with asthma. Fun fun fun…), I was achy all over and my body basically felt super heavy, so I spent the day watching movies and trying pretty much unsuccessfully to cough up phlegm. Gross but true. But now on Thursday morning I think I’m on the up swing. I’m not so achy today and I keep sneezing, am finally able to hack up the nastiness from my lungs, and my ears are draining. Yet again, gross but true. But now that everything is moving up and out I’m starting to feel a little better. I plan on taking today easy as well, but depending on how I feel tomorrow I might just go for a short run! Because you know, this cold has just caused me to spend even more time not running during this training cycle…

Curse my weak immune system. And I really mean that. My immune system sucks. Partly because I do have asthma, and obviously airborne viruses + no so great lungs = a weaker immune system. But luckily at this point in my life my asthma isn’t too bad. I just kinda wheeze sometimes, and hot/humid weather and cigarette smoke will sometimes knock me on my ass, but other than that it’s not currently bad enough to warrant an inhaler of any kind. But I’ve also just learned that I have another hit against my immune system, and that would be the fact that I lack an appendix. Jeez! This whole not having an appendix thing really causes me some problems. I can’t eat certain things without having absolutely terrible stomach cramps and now my immune system is apparently weaker, because now doctors are pretty sure that the appendix plays a part in our immune systems. Which is why now a-days if you have appendicitis they’ll give you antibiotics first in hopes that will solve the issue and they wont have to take it out. Not that that would have helped me. My appendix ruptured (yeah apparently my abdomen was a huge mess) so it obviously had to come out. And now every doctor I’ve ever seen ever likes to tell me that I had an “old fashioned appendectomy” and then touch my scar. Which I absolutely hate…

Haha well that kinda turned into a rant! I wasn’t exactly planning on that. But dammit the more time that goes on the more medical science seems to learn about the appendix, and the more they learn, the more I wish I still had mine…One day I need to tell the story of how that all went down. It’s an interesting story that involves me almost dying thanks to my high pain tolerance and an incompetently stubborn doctor. Maybe one day I’ll take the time to type that all up. Maybe. 😉

But anyway, it would appear that I’m going to spend the rest of the day hacking up phlegm, blowing my nose, chugging water (because I’m super thirsty and haven’t been drinking nearly enough since I’ve gotten sick, and hoping/praying/visualizing my half marathon next Saturday doesn’t completely suck. Because this training cycle sure has…

Only 8 more days!!!!

Anyways, I hope you’re well, having a great week, and are enjoying your appendix (if you have one that is 😉 ).

Running Keeps Me Sane

And it’s only when my klutzy, accident/injury prone ass gets hurt and can’t run that I really, truly understand that.

That’s currently where I’m at. I’m hurt, can’t run, and driving myself insane with things that are probably just a result of my having anxiety, but you know, also just regular life stuff. Haha I probably need to see a doctor about both of those things, but I’m a very stubborn person who does not like, and has had several bad experiences with doctors. One day I’ll tell the story of how my high pain tolerance and a team of equally as stubborn as me doctors almost killed me when I was 13 and suffering from a ruptured appendix (although initially the doctors couldn’t figure that out). That’s a super long story though, and I don’t think I still have any photos from that time in my life. Eventually I want to talk to my mom, dad, sisters, brother, and grandma about it though, and type it all out. But for now, wanna see my scar? Too bad if you don’t, because I’m gonna show you anyway. 😉

So yeah, every doctor I’ve ever seen since I was 13 likes to touch it and say “you had an old fashioned appendectomy!” Yes, I did! Because it was ruptured and they couldn’t get all the nastiness out the newfangled way they do it now with like, lasers and shit. And I absolutely hate when people touch it, but doctors always freaking do it without asking… I’ve also got a bunch of scar tissue in my abdomen that can uncomfortable if I sit/lay in certain ways for too long, and apparently that could potentially cause issues if I were to ever get pregnant. I don’t plan on doing that anytime soon though. 😉

Anyways, I’ve rambled on enough about that.

So ever since the Green Day concert last month (which I don’t regret going to at all before anyone asks 😉 ) I haven’t been able to do much running. I think I must have hurt something in my left knee/calf (I’m honestly still unsure as to where the pain is originating from, all I know is that it hurts every time I try to run on it) with all of the standing/dancing that I did. Oh man, that was so much fun and I really wish we could go see them again…

But anyway, the week of the 14th-20th of August I ran a total of one whole mile. But I thought, hey, maybe a week pretty much complete off from running would help. And it really seemed to! The next week I managed to pretty much get all of my training runs done with minimal to no pain. And my 9 mile long run for the week went totally great and my leg felt almost back to 100%! It was all down hill from there unfortunately. The week of August 28th-September 3rd I attempted to do 2 runs and neither of them went well. I ended up running about 1.5 miles for both of them but I just ended up with pain in my knee, shooting down into my calf both times. And then after those two failed attempts at running I ended up limping around for the rest of the day. That’s when I decided that running was making it worse and that I needed to stop. Sad face.

And that brings us to this week, in which I’ve done absolutely no running at all. I’ve actually just been sitting around feeling sorry for myself, which definitely hasn’t helped with the whole anxiety thing…But yesterday it finally clicked in my head that just because I can’t run, it doesn’t mean that I can’t do other things, so I did a Jillian Michaels’ DVD workout that I haven’t done in forever! It was pretty tough considering that I haven’t done it in a while, and it’s not like I strength train enough anyway haha, but it definitely wasn’t as tough as I thought it was gonna be! I had to modify a few things to keep my leg happy, but I made it through without dying! I actually felt pretty strong while I was doing it. I was glad to find that I’m actually not in as bad of shape as I thought I might be. 🙂

99413eb7-720a-4c26-8ff4-76c54215f590

So yeah, I felt pretty great after that! I  woke up feeling crazy sore this morning, and while that’s slightly annoying it also makes me feel like I actually accomplished something with this workout, ya know?

Haha you’d think with how obnoxiously injury prone I am, that I’d be consistently cross training and working on strengthening my muscles in order to keep my body as injury free as possible, so that I can keep running, not take a piss ton of time off, and then drive myself completely insane because I just can’t turn my brain off when it latches onto something to worry about. *Insert world’s most dramatic eye roll here*  But you know, I just don’t do that stuff as often as I should. It’s just not as fun as running dammit! And who wants to do something that’s not fun?!?! Not me, that’s for damn sure. But at this point I am promising myself and anyone who reads this that I’m going to dedicate the time to straight train at least twice a week. I think that’s a good goal to work on for now. 🙂

Surprisingly enough though, I’ve actually been pretty good about stretching/doing gentle yoga and yoga for flexibility. That’s definitely a step in the right direction as far as rehabbing injuries and preventing new ones from happening. I was also icing my knee and calf for a while, but at this point I don’t think that’s really doing much. I’ve also been wearing a lot of compression gear and that has actually felt like it’s been helping! Luke bough me this crazy compression knee brace thingy, but my knee has felt a lot better since I’ve been wearing it! Not good enough to run on yet, but at least it’s a step in the right direction! And as far as compression socks go, well I think I might need new ones. Both pairs that I have just don’t seem as compression-y as they once were. They are still providing some compression though, so I figure that’s better than nothing for now. Haha I’m actually going to get calf sleeves instead of the whole sock, because as you can see, I cut the toes off of my compression socks because they make my toes super uncomfortable.

img_6164

So yeah, that’s where I am right now. At this point I’ve pretty much given up on the 10k that I’m registered for. That’s exactly one month from today and since I’m still not running at all I just don’t think I’m going to be able to make it happen. And I was soooo looking forward to it! This was going to be my first 10k race and it’s supposed to be a super scenic, evening race with a free glass of hard cider at the end…Oh well, there’s always next year I suppose. Haha I’m just upset that I spent $35 on a race I’m not going to do.

img_3507

As for the Longview half, well, I haven’t completely given up on that. I have however, given up on any time goals I had for it. That’s not for a little over 2 months so I feel like there’s still some hope for that one. At this point I know I can cover the distance, even on minimal training, so as long as my leg heals I’ll still be able to do it. You know how some runners have a race that they do every. single. year? That they’ve done for 5, 10, 20 years in a row? Yeah, I want the Longview half to be that race for me and I really don’t want to have to end that streak this early into it. I mean, I’ve only done it two years in a row and this is gonna be the third. Well hopefully. But like I said, if I  can get my leg healed I should be able to do it.

Whew, alrighty then. That is all I’ve got for today. It’s been super nice outside in the mornings. In the low/high 50’s so we’re starting to get our first tastes of fall here in Kansas, and that’s just making not running even more suck-y but I can still walk my dogs! So I’m gonna go do that and then do some yoga.

Happy almost fall! 🍁🍂
