Woohoo!! I feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of two ambassador programs, one brand and one race, that are so near and dear to my heart! I like to think that it’s a sign of good things to come in 2019! 😊 . Anyway, the Gobbler Grind was one of the most fun races I’ve done at this point! The course is pretty, the aid stations are ridiculously well stocked, and the race volunteers are the most awesome people ever! My dad and I had a blast last year and we’re super excited to be doing it all again this year! 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️😁 . If you’ve run the Gobbler Grind before you should totally sign up to be an ambassador as well! If not, you should use the code GG19AD to register and come run it with us on November 10th! Thank goodness for 4 wheel drive!! We got another 5-6 inches of snow today, but Luke and I sure didn’t let that stop us! ❄️❄️❄️ . We bought groceries, ran some errands, went to Tractor Supply twice (we forgot straw for the chickens the first time 😂), and took the dogs to an off leash dog park! 🐶🐶🐶🐶 . Well, technically we broke into the dog park because it was closed. 😂 There was NO ONE there so the dogs were able to run and play in the snow to their heart’s content. This was Whiskey’s first time going and she did great!! 😊 . So far we’ve had a really good day! Happy Valentine’s Day, instagram friends!! 💕❤️💝 . Super glad I decided to back off when I wasn’t feeling so great yesterday, because I did a spur of the moment long run today! 😂 It’s kinda hard to believe that we’re supposed to have another snow storm tomorrow considering it’s in the 50’s and sunny today. 🌤 I originally set out to do 3-4 miles, but I felt really good and since it was nice out and the road situation is probably going to be pretty iffy this weekend I decided to go for 8 miles about 2.5 miles in. 🏃🏻‍♀️😄 . That was all fine and good, but I had to take in fuel and electrolytes on this run because I did it faster than planned (and that includes an over .5 mile walking break because my mom called me) and because all I ate for breakfast this morning was Cheerios and that just wasn’t doing it for me. So today’s impromptu long run was brought to you by Honey Stinger and BodyArmor. 🐝🍯 . Anyway, I felt absolutely fantastic today! I’m very happy with how this run went! 😊 . Not feeling it today. Physically or mentally. Lol I had a sneaking suspicion that was gonna happen though. Last night my throat was feeling just a little bit scratchy and I’ve come to learn that means that my body is feeling stressed and I need to back off a little bit. So for today I decided to just go out and see what I could do. After about 1 very slow mile I was like “lol nope!”. So I turned around and slogged another mile home. Today was still definitely a success though! I ran and I did what I needed to do. 🙂 Listening to your body is key!! Sure your training plan might say you need to do a 5 miler with strides today. But if your body is telling you that it needs a little break then give it one. That, my friends, is how you stay healthy and injury free. It’s also a lesson that I really took to heart last year and I ended up completing a whole half marathon training cycle without getting sick or injured. That’s something that I had honestly never done before! It cold out (but not too cold. 😉), the sun was shining, and the roads were almost ice free! It was great. 🏃🏻‍♀️😊 .
