Hi there! My name is Ashley Dailey. My husband and I live in Kansas with our two border collies, two cats, 2 rabbits, ferret, and leopard gecko. Along with my brother-in-law and his dog. You could say we have a full house. 😉

I suppose I could bore you with my whole life story (spoiler alert; it’s not that interesting), but I don’t feel like typing it and I have a sneaking suspicion that you don’t feel like reading it.

All you need to know about me is that I grew up on a small, family farm in southern Illinois. I have 2 sisters and a brother, all younger than me. Growing up where we did, we spent a lot of our free time outside. Exploring the woods, running through cow pastures, and playing in corn fields, we learned to love, respect, and even how to live off of and with nature.

When I was 14 I met my now husband when we were in 8th grade, we started dating when we were 16, and got married almost 5 years later in 2012. Before we got married he got a job in Kansas, a week before our wedding he moved to an apartment near his new job and a few days after our wedding I moved there as well. We spent 3 long years in that apartment until 2015 when we were able to by a house in a small town, which is where we live now.

I started running in 2013. Mostly to supplement the workout DVD’s I was doing in order to lose weight. But near the end of 2013 I REALLY got into the whole running thing. I had started out running on the treadmill at our apartment complexes activity center, but once I started venturing out on the trail that ran right next to our apartment is when I really started to fall in love with running. I mean, running on a treadmill is fine, but nothing beats running outside on a nature trail that takes you through the parks and even a little bit of woods. Especially for a nature lover like me.

And now here I am, almost 3 years, a few 5k’s and a half marathon later, I’m proud to call myself a runner! I’m definitely not going to be breaking any records, or wining any races, but I’m ok with that. I just want to be able to live a healthy, active life, and continue running for as long as I can!

I started this blog is a place for me share my journey to becoming a better runner; the good the bad, the ugly, and everything I learn along the way. But it’s also become a place for me to talk about my adventures in every day life, my dogs, my garden, and all sorts of other weirdness. And hopefully I’ll get to know you and hear about your experiences in running and in life as well! Thanks for dropping by!!
