On Monday Luke and I had a little Memorial Day party. Him, my brother-in-law, and one of my neighbor’s all smoked ribs and made it into a competition to see who’s were the best. Although I don’t think they ever came to a conclusion haha. But we spent the whole day outside hanging out and playing with the dogs and all of the small children that were running back and forth between our two yards. It was a fun day!
- Rest Day
Tuesday was not a fun day… First, my other neighbor’s dog killed my chickens, then I had to go to the dentist. Yuck. But I got temporary crowns put on both teeth that have had root canals and in about another week or so I should get the permanent ones put on. So at least those teeth have been taken care of.

I always know its a weird week when my first run doesn’t happen until Wednesday. Haha but life happens and sometimes running kinda falls to the wayside. And that’s ok every once in a while! Anyway, did 2 hot and muggy miles on Wednesday. My gums got really irritated during the whole crown process thing the day before and I was told that they might take a while to calm down again. So my whole mouth was kinda achy and throbbed with every step I took, So 2 miles was all I had in me. But that was a whole lot better than nothing!!

I was actually feeling really good on Thursday! I slept in a little bit (mostly because I figured a little extra sleep might help my tooth situation heal a little faster 😉 ) and thought that getting out later to run was going to suck. Once the sun comes out and heats up the asphalt things can get slightly miserable haha. But surprisingly enough it wasn’t too bad and I had a lot of fun! Followed my run with some weeding in the garden and a short blogilates video. 🙂

Feeling kinda tired on Friday. Probably from all of the craziness earlier this week. So, rest day. But 4 of our new chicks made in on Friday! Luke had ordered new ones from a hatchery online the day Ozzy killed our other ones. We were supposed to get 8 but 4 of them didn’t make it. But the rest should be here by next Wednesday. I’m still super duper pissed that we were soooo freaking close to getting eggs and now we’re all the way back to square one, but oh my gosh little 2 day old chicks are just too adorable!!

I wanted to do 10, so obviously that didn’t go as planned…
I was so ready to do a long run on Saturday! I had everything prepped any laid out the night before, woke up at 5 am to try to beat the heat, ate, had my coffee, and then had to spend an extra hour and a half waiting out a thunderstorm… Don’t get me wrong, I love thunderstorms and have a really bad habit of running during them haha. But this one looked pretty bad, so I waited it out. And I’m glad I did. There were a bunch of downed tree limbs on the roads and I saw once house that had its shutters ripped off and another that had a window screen get broken by the storm. So obviously waiting was a good idea, but that meant I ate two and a half hours before my run instead of my usual one. That kinda had me feeling off. I shouldn’t have gone out feeling kinda hungry (that never ends well for me) but I did… And for some reason my gums were starting to hurt again during this run. I mean, they’ve been kinda achy ever since I got the crowns put on, like the dentist said they would, but it was just bothering me more on Saturday. Haha I usually do better when dealing with pain and discomfort, but mouth pain is the worst!!
So I ended up stopping waaay short of my goal, but I’m just gonna chalk it up to this whole week being weird and hectic and off, and hope that next week is better!

Not gonna lie, I was kinda super stoked that I didn’t have to run today haha. I mean, I guess I could have, but typically Sunday’s are my rest days and I like to keep it that way. Did a little bit of easy yoga though. That felt pretty good. 🙂
