Alrighty! I wanted to have this post up yesterday, but I had my weekly recap and I was pretty tired last night haha. So anyway, here are all of the fun adventures we had yesterday.
Yesterday I was the first person awake. I tend to be up relatively early anyway, but Kansas is also an hour ahead of Colorado, so when I got up at 7:30 in the morning it was really 8:30 in the time zone I live in. Haha so technically I did sleep in. 😉 So I just kinda hung out and played with the dogs until around 9:30 when my dad and brother finally got up. I took my dad’s dog Niko outside while he made bacon and eggs for breakfast. 🙂
After we ate my dad and brother had to move some stuff from the trailer to their garage, so while they did that I drank some coffee, took Niko out again, and then got dressed. Once they were finished my mom got up and got dressed and around 11 ish me and my mom and dad set off to go to the Rocky Mountain National Park. My dad wanted me to see the alluvial fan, so that’s where he took us.
It was super cold, crazy windy, and none of us were properly prepared for that. So my mom waited in the car while my dad and I quickly hiked to the alluvial fan. It was mostly frozen, but we could still see some water moving under the ice which was super neat. Oh, and speaking of ice, my dad slipped on it and fell and literally right after he got up I also slipped and fell on the ice. Haha luckily neither of us got hurt.
We looked around a little bit, he told me about the damn that broke and some of the stuff that happened after that (that’s why I like hanging out with my dad, I always learn new things 🙂 ), and then we quickly made our way back to his truck. After that we drove around the park for a little bit and on our way out we ended up seeing a small herd of elk. This was my first time seeing elk in real life, so I was obviously pretty excited haha! I hoped out of the truck and I was able to get really close to them, because they’re really used to seeing people so that was really neat! I also hung out of the window of the truck and took a few photos too.
By the time we left the park it was a little after 1 pm we were all starving, so went out to eat. I ate a whole french dip sandwich. I was impressed with myself haha. After that we did a little bit of shopping and my dad bought me this super awesome shirt. 🙂
We headed home after our little shopping trip, and got back a little after 3:30 pm. I guess all of that sight seeing, eating, and shopping wore us all out! My dad went to take a nap after we got home and me and my mom kinda just hung out with my brother for a little bit, but eventually we ended up taking Niko for a walk on a trail that goes around a lake that’s near their apartment. My mom and Niko didn’t make it very far haha, they ended up turning around going back home with out me. I walked for about a mile and then turned around and walked the mile back home. It was really pretty out there, with the sun starting to set and all of the snow on the ground. 🙂 It also felt really good to walk around a little bit after being in the truck for so long on Saturday.
Once I got home I showered, ate dinner, and just chilled for the rest of the night. I was pretty worn out after all of the days adventures. And probably after traveling to Colorado in the first place haha.
Whew, but that pretty much covers yesterday’s adventures!
Stay tuned for more Colorado fun! I’m sure there will be more. 🙂
