I am having a good week, running wise! 🙂
I suppose Tuesday is a bit early to start declaring things like that, but so far it’s true! I got 5 miles done yesterday, mostly on a whim haha. The weather was nice and I felt too good not to do a a mid-ish distance run (well, for me it’s a mid distance run anyway. 😉 ). I felt really good getting it done and I probably had a few more miles in me, but 5 seemed like a nice number for a Monday. I also had a bunch of fun looking at everyone’s Halloween decorations! Someone had a Pennywise balloon on a drain grate. That was pretty awesome.
After running 5 miles yesterday I thought my legs would feel pretty tired (considering that I’m coming back from an injury and I’m probably not getting back into the running thing slowly enough, but whatevs 😉 ) but they actually felt really good! Well, maybe they did feel a bit heavy for the first mile of today’s run, but after that they were fine!
So there’s a lot of construction going on around my neighborhood; people are re-doing roofs, the town hall (which I live right next too) is getting completely re done inside and out, the gas company has been digging on several different streets and so has the power company, and there’s a little bit of road work going on. So I spent a good amount of time dodging work trucks, backhoes, construction signs, and workers. Not gonna lie, I’m not a fan of running past these people. On several occasions they’ve thought it was a good idea to say some gross things to me, or just whistle and yell at me. Ugh, that’s no fun…but today I turned up my music, pulled down my hat, and just ignored them. Although I did catch a few of them staring in a way that made me wish I wasn’t wearing tight pants and a tank top, if you know what I mean…Haha I think I’m gonna start bringing Dean running with me again. He likes to bare his teeth at people he doesn’t like, especially when he knows I feel uncomfortable. That usually puts a stop to some of that nastiness.
But anyway, aside from the creepers this run was a lot of fun! I pushed hard on some of the uphills and ended up running my fastest 5k with this particular watch. Haha that’s not my actual 5k PR, but hey, I’ll take it! 🙂
So yeah, my two good runs in a row have really boosted my confidence for the upcoming half marathon that I feel like I barely trained at all for thanks to my damn knee issue. Now we’ll just have to wait and see if I still feel that way after the 10 mile long run I’m planning to do this weekend haha. Hopefully that will go well and I’ll feel even more confident! Right now I’m thinking the half is going to be super slow, painful, and generally awful, but I also think that I’ll be able to do it, and right now that’s all I really care about.
Anyways, I think that’s all I’ve got for today. I need to go stretch out my legs and then I’m thinking a nap sounds nice. 🙂
