Weird Weather, Happy Eclipse Day, and Half Marathon Number 3 Is Officially A-Go!

The weather this morning was pretty interesting to say the least! Woke up to a rainbow but no rain (at that point at least), then it did eventually start raining while the sun was still shining. That didn’t last too long though, and my weather app said that that was supposed to be the end of it, so I went out to go for a run, but a thunderstorm developed right on top of me and the lighting was getting pretty crazy, so I made my way home. And saw a second rainbow, which was pretty neat. Then after that it rained off and on until about 10 am, with a bunch of crazy thunder and lightning. Good times haha.

As of 10:04 am as I type this, it’s still pretty cloudy out. I’m hoping it’ll clear up here in the next hour and a half ish. That’s when we’re supposed to be able to see the eclipse. Where I live in Kansas I don’t think we’ll be able to see the full thing and we’re only supposed to be able to see it for a few seconds, but still, it’ll be neat! But we wont be able to see it if the damn clouds wont go away haha.

Anyways, I guess I should probably explain why I haven’t posted anything here since last Tuesday. So at some point two weekends ago (at the Green Day concert, I think) I somehow hurt my leg and have been unable to run. I’ve basically been hobbling around for the past week. It’s not been fun haha. So I just haven’t had anything to talk about really. That and those post concert blues have hit me pretty hard. 😉

But anyway, at first I thought it was my calf/shin that was hurting but I couldn’t exactly pin point where. But over the weekend I realized it was actually my knee that was the problem and the pain has just been radiating down my whole lower leg. Haha I’m pretty sure I just never noticed because I’ve had issues with that knee since I was 13 or 14 and I’ve just gotten used to it hurting. I have osgood schlatter disease in my left knee. It was supposed to go away by the time I stopped growing, but it never did. It’s a whole thing… Anyway, it’s been hurting. Luckily though it’s not shin splits like I originally thought. That would have meant a lot less running until it stopped hurting. The good news is that I’ve always been able to continue being active whenever my knee hurts, I just have to put up with it until it stops. Which it eventually will. Hopefully haha.

But yeah, like I said, I got a run in today. 🙂 🙂 🙂 My leg hurt for the first few minutes but it eventually worked itself out and it felt alright during the rest of my run. The goal was to do 30 easy minutes, but I ended up cutting that short because of the weather. At about 1.8 miles I was back at my driveway and I figured that was good enough, considering the crazy lighting and all. Ah well, it’s probably all for the best anyway. I shouldn’t be pushing it too hard after not running for a week and all.

I’m just glad I was able to get out there. Now hopefully I’ll be able to slowly ease back into half marathon training, because I’ve (finally) signed up for the Longview half last Friday! So it’s officially officially, I’ll be running the Longview half for the 3rd year in a row! Yay!!

But yeah, that’s all I’ve got for today. I guess I’m off to go pray for the clouds to clear up and wait for the eclipse. 🙂

Happy Monday everyone!
