Weekly Recap: July 24th-30th, 2017

Monday:

  • 1 easy mile
  • 40 minutes of yoga

My first run of half marathon training did not go well… My legs just did not want to move, I didn’t sleep well the night before so I was super tired, and I was still recovering from the flu. So I tried to run, but after a mile I knew it just wasn’t going to happen. So I went home and did some yoga. πŸ™‚

Tuesday:Β 

  • 3.1 miles
  • 40 minutes of yoga

The second run of half marathon training went much better! I guess I was feeling pretty much back to normal on Tuesday. It’s still summer though and I still don’t like or preform well in the hot weather, so this run was still super slow. I had fun though. πŸ™‚

Oh and thanks to Luke, I’m sporting a very fancy new Garmin Fenix 5, so that’s pretty exciting!

Wednesday:Β 

  • Rest Day

Wednesday may have been a rest day, but I still made a point to get my steps in by walking Lily twice during the day, then taking a nice long walk with Luke and Dean in the evening. πŸ™‚

Thursday:Β 

  • 30 minutes on my stationary bike

I may or may not have spent most of Thursday binge watching season 6 of Game of Thrones (and ended up finishing it on Friday) ;). I still got the cross training done that my training plan called for, so go me! πŸ™‚

Friday:Β 

  • 25 minute fartlek

Fartlek fartlek fartlek! No matter how many times you say it, it’s still a super fun word. πŸ™‚ It’s also a super fun workout to do, if you ask me! Haha so I’m not sure why this is the first time in months that I’ve actually done a fartlek. Oh well. So when I saw that this was on my scheduled for Friday I was super excited! But most of these 25 minutes ended up being super slow with a few random bursts of speed thrown in whenever it seemed like fun. So while it may not have been the most hard core workout, I still think it qualifies as a fartlek fartlek fartlek. πŸ˜‰ (I for real need a shirt that says “fartlek is my second favorite “F” word. I think you all know what my first favorite “F” word is.)

Friday’s run was fueled by Honey Stinger, of course. πŸ˜‰

Saturday:

  • 5 miles in the morning
  • 3 miles in the evening
  • a few minutes of stretching

Double day, yay! Haha well. sorta. The plan was to do 8 miles for my long run in the morning, but that just wasn’t going to happen. Basically I just felt really shitty for pretty much no reason, so I called it quits at 5 miles but I promised myself that I would get in 2-3 miles in the evening. So I did! And I felt great doing my evening 3 miles as well!! πŸ™‚

 

 

Sunday:

  • Rest Day

I may or may not have stayed up until 1:30 am. Oops. πŸ˜‰ Good thing today’s a rest day and I was able to sleep in this morning! πŸ™‚ Anyway, started my day with a pretty awesome (well, if you ask me πŸ˜‰ ) of bacon, cherries, and coffee! Yum!! The cherries were sooo sweet and super delicious! And now that my belly is happy I need to go make my legs happy and go do some stretching/foam rolling.

Total Weekly Mileage: 14.07

I’m happy with that number. πŸ™‚ At first I kinda wasn’t. My run on Monday didn’t go well, my Friday fartlek was super slow and therefore super short, and although I got in 8 miles on Saturday I did have to double to do it, but if I would have gotten my 8 miles done in the morning and still doubled in the evening I would have gotten a few more miles in for the week. But then I remembered that I was still recovering from the flu on Monday, my fartlek on Friday may have been short but it was a lot of fun, and 8 miles is still 8 miles. πŸ™‚

All in all I’m very happy with how my first week of half marathon training has gone. It’s had it’s ups and downs, but what in life doesn’t? πŸ˜‰ I had fun, got shit done, and am excited to see what I can do in the upcoming weeks!
