So last night KC Running Company posted about this new 5k/10k on their Facebook page, and after reading a little bit about it I decided that I absolutely had to do it!
It’s in Louisburg Kansas (obviously 😉 ), which is where the Louisburg Cider Mill is. That’s where Luke and I go pumpkin picking in the fall! Now this race isn’t actually at the cider mill (that would have been really neat though), but I figure the Louisburg Cider Mill has to be somewhat involved. Like they’re probably providing apple cider or something for the event. So that point alone pretty much sold me on this race, but then I found out that participants that are 21 and over get a souvenir cup of hard cider at the finish! Haha yeah, I literally went and registered for the 10k after I discovered that little fact. I love hard cider!
So I’m super duper excited because this will be the first 10k race I’ve done! I’ve been wanting to do one so bad, but it seems like it’s easier to find 5k’s, half marathons, and full marathons. Plus the course is supposed to be really pretty and the race doesn’t start until 5 pm so in October that should be right around dusk, which is seriously my favorite time of day!
So yeah, that’s pretty much all I know about this event haha. I guess this is it’s first year, so they don’t appear to have an actual website yet, but it is a KC Running Company event, so I’m sure it will be a lot of fun! They seem to put on some really good races. 🙂 The only thing I’m really worried about is that there wont be many other participants and that I’ll end up coming in dead last. But I suppose that’s one of the hazards of being a slow runner. And somebody has to come in last, I suppose. Either way, I’m still very excited about this race! 🙂
And now I just need to sign up for the Longview Half again and I’ll be set for the year! I would like to do a few more races, but now I’ve got a fall 10k to look forward to (and fall is my favorite, so that’s exciting) and then hopefully my goal half marathon (which is basically becoming a November tradition for me), and I am very content with that. 🙂
Happy Thursday everyone!
