1. Road ID
I actually already have a post dedicated to Road ID, you can find that here. 🙂 But I had to mention it because I literally wont leave my front door without it. It’s not like I’m super paranoid that something is going to happen to me while I’m running or anything like that. But I like to know that if for whatever reason I can’t speak for myself, I have some very useful information right on my wrist.
2. Moisture Wicking Socks
I’m not all that picky when it comes to running socks. My one and only condition when it comes to socks is that they absolutely MUST be moisture wicking.
I forgot to change into moist wicking socks one time before a run. I only mad that mistake once, but I’ll never make it again! My feet were hot, moist and just felt gross during that whole run. I also got some pretty gnarly blisters! That was no fun… Ever since that day I check my feet at least 3-4 times before I start my runs haha. Maybe that’s a little bit obsessive, but at least my feet are happy.
3. Some Kind Of Hat
Ok, this one is kind of sort of a lie, as I used to never wear any kind of had unless it was cold outside and I needed to keep my ears warm. But I’ve been wearing a hat more and more, and at this point I’d rather run with one than without one, as they are usually quite handy! They help keep my hair out of my face, keeps the sun out of my eyes and shades my face whenever it’s really hot and sunny (and I’ve found that just getting a little shade on my face makes warm weather running marginally better), and if it’s raining I don’t have to constantly be blinking or wiping water out of my eyes, which can get super annoying after a while.
4. A Good Sports Bra
Oh man, I love me a good Nike sports bra! They’re what I’ve been wearing since I started running and I don’t often stray from them. They provide me enough support to keep me comfortable, and they have enough of a compression element to keep the girl strapped down and prevent them from doing too much bouncing.
I have worn a few Victoria Secret sports bras like the one pictured below. They are super pretty. usually pretty comfortable, and they make my cleavage look great haha. Plus I really like how easy they are to take off with the zipper in the front. But surprisingly enough they allow for waaay too much bouncing for my taste. Plus I always chafe under my arm pits when I wear them for too long. So I only tend to wear them on shorter, easier runs, and then stick with my Nike sports bras whenever I can. 🙂
5. My Phone
Technically an IPhone 6 isn’t really a piece of running gear. But I always take it with me, even if I don’t plan on listening to music. I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it, because you never know. Some kind of situation could come up where I need to make a phone call, and it would really suck to not be able to do that.
Plus I never have to worry about getting lost! Haha I never have before, but it’s nice to know that if I somehow do, google maps will be there to guide me home. 😀
Is there any kind of gear that you wont run without?
