The plan for today was a 5 mile run; 1 mile to warm up, 1 to cool down, and intervals for the 3 miles in between. That didn’t end up happening though, my quads are super tight, which makes my shins feel a bit achy. So I ended up doing 3 easy miles instead. Not as exciting as speed work, but it was still fun. πŸ™‚

I even did a tiny bit of exploring today! That’s kind of a big deal for me! Once I get comfortable with something I usually stick with it forever. Which is what I’ve been doing for the last almost 2 years now. I haven’t wandered from the little square of streets I run on at all. But last week I saw a car driving out in what I had always thought was just a random empty field, so every time I’ve run past this field I’ve been trying to figure out where that road was and how to get there, and today I figured it out! I had to run down a dead end street that I’ve never gone down because, well it’s a dead end haha (that dead end is actually pictured above πŸ˜‰ ). Anyway, what I had thought was just one road is a bunch of random, new looking streets, just out in a field of overgrown grass. I’m wondering if at one point someone was planning to build a subdivision out there but it never happened. That or someone is actually going to build something out there and they just haven’t done it  yet.

Either way, I have no idea if I had any business being out there. I mean, there weren’t any no trespassing signs or anything, but it just didn’t look like a place people were supposed to be, so I didn’t stay out there long. Plus I didn’t want to do too much wandering, since I wanted to keep my run short today. I’m probably going to end up doing more exploring this weekend though. The allure of a new interesting place near a pasture full of cows is just way too exciting for me to stay away from haha.

Anyways, sore shins means I need to do a bunch of stretching and foam rolling, so I suppose I’m going to go do that now.

Happy Hump Day!
