Wishing everyone a happy 2017!
Hopefully this year will have better things in store for us all. I feel like 2016 kinda sucked in general for everyone. But even if it didn’t, I hope this year treats you well!
I spent a little bit of time last night looking at my “stats” from 2015 and 2016, and even though 2016 may not have been all that great, I made some pretty impressive improvements running wise, compared to 2015!
Seriously though! I’m pretty impressed with myself right now, there are some crazy differences between the miles and paces I ran those 2 years. Eventually I need to get back onto Nike+ so I can look at my stats from 2013 and 2014. Haha 2013’s stats probably aren’t all that impressive, as I started running in October (I think?) of that year.
While I have made some crazy improvements, I kinda want to up the ante a little bit and aim to run 1,000 miles this year. I know that’s kind of a big jump, but I think it’s totally doable! If my math is correct (and it’s probably not, I’m seriously terrible at math) I’d have to average close to 21 miles per week through the year. That may take a little work, but I definitely think I can make it happen!
As far as times go, I don’t think I’m going to aim for anything too crazy like I did in 2016. My goal for the 10k distance was to cut 5:33 minutes off of my PR from 2015. I got that goal right on the mark, but aiming to shave that much time off of a distance is pretty crazy. I’m thinking for 2017 I’m just going to try to do each distance a little bit faster, so I’d be happy if I just shave a second off of each of my PR’s. 😄
So I guess that pretty much covers the goals I have for running this year.
Do you have any New Years resolutions? Or are you not into that kinda thing? I don’t typically do the whole resolution thing, I just like to come up with a few goals that I want to work toward throughout the year.
At this point I only have one non-running related goal for the year, and it’s relatively simple; I want to make at least one blog post every day in 2017. Sounds simple enough, right? Haha it’s not like coming up with something new and interesting for 365 days is going to be hard or anything. 😉 I’m going to give it my best shot though!
I found a nifty little 31 day blog challenge a while ago, and I though that would be a good way to kick start this 365 day journey. I guess technically this counts as an introduction, so I’m just gonna roll with that and call this day 1!

Anyway, I’m super excited to see what this year has in store and I’m very excited to make things happen in my running and life in general!
