For once in my life, I’m kinda glad the weekend is over! Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of fun, but Luke and I were quite busy and I’m glad I can finally get back to my normal routine.
Friday morning we drove home from Illinois. I did my mile in the morning right before we left to keep my streak alive, then we spent five hours in the car. Good times. Actually, this particular trip didn’t feel as long as it usually does. I guess for once Luke and I managed to keep each other busy. 🙂
We got home around 5 pm, which isn’t too bad. Surprisingly we didn’t run into too much traffic. I actually thing this is the first Thanksgiving where we made it home in the usual amount of time. One year there were a ridiculous amount of wrecks and accidents, another year there was just a crazy amount of people out on the road, and one year it snowed. A lot. It took us almost 8 hours to get home that time.
Anyway, after we got home we unpacked our stuff from the car, ate dinner, chilled for a little bit, then went to pick up some Christmas gifts. On Black Friday. At a big department store… I don’t know if you know this about me, but I don’t particularly enjoy the company of many people. I’m a hardcore introvert, I don’t like big crowded, and for some reason, some people turn into complete animals on Black Friday. They have to make sure they get their discounted shit into their carts then to the register as fast as possible, and if you get in their way they’ll run you over with their cart because they are the most important person in the world… Long story short, we got what we were looking for and lived to tell the tale.
On Saturday Luke got shit done. And I helped! 😉 First we went grocery shopping, then did a little more Christmas shopping, mailed his brother and sister’s gifts to Minnesota, went to Walmart for a tote to put our left over canning jars in and more Christmas lights. Got home, stored the canning jars and put away the groceries, hung the Christmas lights, and then I finally got my run in. Haha I was getting a little worried that I would run out of daylight to get it done! I don’t have any night time running gear so that would have been an issue. Luckily the sun was just starting to go down when I did my mile with Dean.
Sunday was spent playing Pokemon and cooking. After I did a 3 mile run, that is. 🙂 A week or so ago Luke bought a turkey and we never got around to baking in, so we decided to cook our own little Thanksgiving dinner. So we had turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green beans (mmmmm and they were fresh too, no canned or frozen stuff here!), and of course pumpkin pie! That was a really good dinner, and now we have our own leftover! No one tried to send any home with us this year, which is weird, but whatever. 🙂
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a good weekend! Happy Monday!!
