Race Week Is Here!!

Note to self; Drinking a shit ton of coffee without eating breakfast or drinking water and then trying to run is a terrible idea.

Seriously, I couldn’t find my easy pace, I just wanted to go go go. Then I started getting a little dizzy and shaky, which tends to happen when I consume too much caffeine without eating anything. Oh well, you live and you learn. Even if it does take a few times of you making the same mistakes before you actually learn from them haha. 😉

Anyway, I was supposed to do 30 easy minutes of running today, but I stopped at 20 when I started getting dizzy. I’m not worried about it though, a little extra rest on race week never hurts. I mean, I’m already going crazy with the lack of running and amount of rest days on my scheduled this week. I know it’s all part of the training plan and on race day it’s going to be totally worth it, but holy shit I just want to run!! Like, a nice interval workout or a hard hill session would be so awesome right now (well, after a nice big breakfast, that is). But I guess the fact that I’m so revved up and ready to go is a good thing. Now I just have to wait (very impatiently I might add) 5 more days before I can let all of my pent up energy out.


So good news! According to weather bug, the temperature for Saturday has been dropping and now the high is only 56 degrees! So it should probably be in the high 30’s and mid 40’s while I’m running. Freaking sweet!! As it is going to be a little more cold I’ve decided to add a long sleeved t-shirt to my race day attire. This presents me with a whole new dilemma though; Do I put my bib on the long sleeved shirt, or on my tank top? Because I’m most likely going to get hot and take the t-shirt off, but I definitely need my bib to be visible at the start and finish of the race. Hmmm I don’t know, I guess I’ll figure that all out later when I have a better idea of what the weather will be like. For all I know, I may be able to finish without having to take off the long sleeved t-shirt.


Oh man, I could go on and on about all the things I’ve got going on in my head right now, but I really do need to go make breakfast, so I won’t bore you with all of that right now. 😉

    I have made last-minute decisions about race-morning wear before. I would say, if it doesn’t look like the temperature will rise out of the 40’s while you are running, assume you won’t need to shed any layers. I always prefer not to worry about my attire while the race is in progress.

      Totally agree! The most I want to worry about attire wise while on the run is whether or not I’m actually warm enough to take my gloves off or not lol. One thing I just now thought of is that this course goes around a lake, and last year cold air was blowing off of the lakes, so assuming the water has actually cooled down, I should be good the whole way in a long sleeved shirt. lol I feel like I’m putting way too much thought into this…Thank you!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
