Race Day Checklist

Holy cow! In exactly one week I’m going to be running 13.1 miles for the second time! I’m super excited, nervous, totally ready, wish I had more time to train, and crazy anxious, all at the same time. Since I don’t have a long run to keep me busy/tired this weekend (6 miles totally doesn’t count as a long run), I figured now would be a good time to start getting all my stuff ready and in one place. That way I can fanatically check it every day for the next week haha. Hey, It worked for me last year! Plus that means on race day I can pretty much rest assured that at the very least, my gear is ready. πŸ™‚

So, here’s what I’m working with;

Anyone want to play a rousing game of “guess what Ashley’s favorite colors are”?  If you guessed pretty much any shade of purple or teal/light blue, you are correct! Black is also an acceptable answer. πŸ˜‰

Race Day Outfit

  • Tights
  • Tank Top
  • Sports Bra
  • Compression Socks
  • Hat
  • Running Shoes

Small But Very Important Stuff

  • GPS Watch (which will be fully charged)
  • Bib and Safety Pins (which I wont have until Friday)
  • Fuel
  • Sunglasses
  • Road ID
  • Hair Ties
  • Vaseline and chapstick
  • Phone and Headphones

Cheap Throwaway Stuff

  • Gloves
  • Jacket (don’t have this yet either, but I’ll probably pick one up on Friday after I get my bib)

Clothes For After

  • T-shirt
  • Hoodie (probably wont need this considering how warm it’s going to be, but better safe than sorry)
  • Deodorant (mostly for the people who have to ride in the car with me afterwards)
  • Socks
  • Boots

Not gonna lie, having all of my shit together and ready to go makes me feel really good about life. πŸ™‚

Welp, I’ve got to go do my last “long run” now Seriously though, at this point in my life 6 miles isn’t long, and I kinda want to do more than that, but I guess I’d better not and just stick to my training plan.

      Oh I totally agree! I get terrible blisters on my feet (I think it’s my compression socks that cause them, actually), but a little Vaseline on my feet seems to help! I’ve never actually tried body glide before. Like you said, Vaseline is a lot cheaper and so far it works really well for me. πŸ˜„
