Weekly Recap: October 17th-23rd, 2016

Threshold runs are definitely something I’m not good at, but I’m actually quite happy with how Monday’s workout turned out.

So is it obvious yet that I feel sooo much better running in the cold versus the hot? Because I think I’ve been making that quite apparent lately. šŸ™‚

This workout was a 10 minute warm up, followed by 3 minutes of hard running, 1 minute of walking, repeated 4 more times, followed by an almost 10 minute cool down (I mostly just wanted to hit the 5k mark haha). As you can see, I PR’d my 5k time yet again! I feel like I’ve been making some big improvements over the last few weeks and I cannot wait to see how those help during my half marathon!

Whew, I’m pretty sure I’d been looking foreword to this rest day since Monday. I’ve been really tired lately…I’m thinking maybe because I haven’t been eating enough? Because I ate waaay too much on Wednesday and Thursday, but I actually felt less tired after that. I’m still trying to figure out the whole fueling thing…

Well, the longest run of this training cycle is officially done! Now it’s all downhill from here! Well, sorta. The only decrease in anything next week is my long run, but hey, I’ll take it. šŸ™‚ I’m sure I’ll be complaining about the decreases in mileage the week after that. šŸ˜‰

So, I wish I could say I forgot to stretch yesterday, but the reality is that the second my ass made contact with couch, all bets were off. Oops..I’m definitely going to be doing some stretching and foam rolling today though! šŸ™‚

Total Weekly Mileage: 24.11

Even though I complained about being tired a lot, I’m very happy with how this week went! Glimpsing into the future for a second; I definitely want to build back up to and then even go over 20 miles a week after this half marathon. I’ve never been able to consistently stick with 20 mile weeks so that’s officially my post half marathon training goal. Along with the Runner’s World winter running streak, that is. šŸ™‚
