Aaaand with that, peak week is done! Thank goodness! 😂
My long run was 12 miles today, and I did that around my neighborhood. As you can imagine, that can be a little bit boring. Mostly because I run here everyday, but also because the farthest I can get from my house is about 1 mile. So that can get a bit monotonous after a while.
Luckily it actually wasn’t too bad this morning! I broke my run up into 2 mile segments, so I’d run 1 mile away, 1 mile back, then quickly stop back at my house for a drink of water/Gatorade. That definitely helped break up the run and kept me from getting too bored.
Anyway, I felt pretty good up until the last mile, but I’m very happy with how everything turned out. I totally killed it going up hills today. 😄
Afterwards I took my first ice bath. Holy cow that was an interesting experience! It totally helped my legs though! The we’re definitely less sore/tired feeling afterwards. Shoutout to Luke for making me hot chocolate and dumping ice on me multiple times. Running truly is a team sport and if moments like that don’t prove it, I don’t know what will!
I spent the rest of the day eating and watching TV. Not very productive, but I like to think I earned it. 😄
I hope you’ve had a good Saturday!

Congrats! Clever way to brake things up and increase your mental toughness. Not sure I’d be stepping out again and again, especially with an ice bath looming 😱

Thanks! The trick is to not actually go inside. I leave water, Gatorade, and snacks on my porch so I can take quick bites/drinks and then be on my way. Haha at about mile 11 I actually decided an ice bath sounded good! That was a terrible mistake on my part, but it actually did end up making my legs feel a lot better! 😄

TWELVE miles!! WHOOP, WHOOP! I think any & every run over 10 miles should end with those 4th of July poppers where you pull the string and confetti flies out. Awesome job!!

I TOTALLY AGREE!! lol how awesome would that be?! Maybe next time I’ll recruit my husband to greet me that way at the end of my next run over 10 miles. Thanks!! 🙂

Haha well it wasn’t my longest run yet, I ran a half marathon last year, it’s just my longest run until my next half. I guess I should have been more specific about that. Thanks you, though!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

OUTSTANDING! And legs dipped in ice with a hot cocoa in your hand…that’s a study in contrasts all right. 😀

Thank you!!! Lol right?! But I figured if I was putting something warm in me the whole legs covered in ice thing would be a little less miserable. I like to think it helped. 😉
