The Adventures Of Half Marathon Training: Day 65

The weather has been pretty awesome here for the past few days! The mornings and evenings are even starting to get a bit chilly, which is super exciting. Hopefully the cooler temps are here to stay! I’m going to be super bummed if it warms up again, but luckily it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Even though the weather is really nice right now, getting out of bed was still hard today haha. I had an alarm set for 6:45 this morning, but when it went off I turned it off and went back to seep until 7:40. Oops…That did, however, put me at exactly 8 hours of sleep, so that’s a good thing, right? 😉

But after some coffee and a few video’s of Green Day’s first show of their Revolution Radio tour (Yeah that happened last night. It looked like a pretty awesome concert! I’m totally in full on fan girl mode. Just warning you now), I was ready to hit the road.

Today was an interval day! Yay! I’m usually a big fan of intervals as long as they aren’t 10+ minutes long, and today they weren’t. I warmed up with 10 easy minutes of running, followed by 5 minutes at a pace that felt difficult, walked for 1 minute, repeated 4 times, then ran at an easy pace for 5 minutes to cool down. I managed to keep the distances for each interval roughly the same. My pace wasn’t very consistent though, which is kinda weird, I think. But I guess hills had something to do with that.

I feel soooo much better during hard workouts when it’s not crazy hot outside, and I feel like this run kinda proves that haha. It’s definitely the best I’ve felt on a run for a while. Interestingly enough, while I felt really good I also felt like I wanted to die. Especially while going kinda hard uphill. I feel like that’s kind of a normal thing when it comes to running though. 😉

This was only my fastest 5K on this watch. I’m still happy with it though. 🙂

I’m looking forward to more runs like this. Now that it’s not crazy hot outside I should feel better and be able to go a little harder than I did in the summer. I’ve also got a few more super exciting things I’m looking forward to;

  • Revolution Radio comes out in 10 days
  • I’m (hopefully) doing the first 10 miler in this training cycle on Saturday
  • Halloween is 34 days away
  • There are only 46 more days until the Longview half marathon (my second half!!!)
  • My birthday is in 49 days
  • Thanksgiving is 58 days away
  • The first day of winter is in 85 days
  • Christmas is 89 days away

Ah, it’s officially the best time of year!!
