Wednesday Things (9/7/16)

(There will be pictures of my nasty toe injury in this post. You’ve been warned.)

Good news! My toe has been feeling a little better every day! It’s still swollen and super bruised, but I can move it pretty well now and I can walk a little bit more. Still not ready to get back into running, but I’m definitely headed in the right direction!

I’m definitely going to lose my toenail which I guess kinda sucks. It won’t be the first toenail I’ve lost, so I’m not all that upset about it. Honestly, I kinda wish it would just come off already. I feel like that would relive some of the pain and pressure and make walking a little easier. But I suppose it’ll come off when it’s ready.

Unsurprisingly, all this sitting around doing nothing, while super boring, has made my shin feel a lot better. Like, it doesn’t hurt at all anymore.😄 My quads, hips, and one of my IT bands are super tight, but I’m thinking that’s from all the sitting.

I’ve been up and moving around a little bit more today though. Probably not the best idea, but the garden needed watered, dishes and laundry needed done, and I’m terrible at sitting for long periods of time…Hahah I had to wear my right shoe a little awkwardly, but the garden got tended to, as did some of the house chores, and I did some arm work! I could only do the sitting down portion of the workout, but hey, it’s better than nothing!

Although I did do some stuff today, I’ve also been doing a lot of sitting with my foot elevated. I’ve been wearing my new compression socks, but now that the swelling has gone down in my toe the numbness has gone away, so having pressure on all that bruising kinda hurts. I do think the compression socks have helped with the swelling though. I also think they are the reason my shin started to feel so much better so quickly. So I’m pretty much in love with my new compression socks. They are soooo much better than my old pair!

I’m also super in love with my spiffy new shoes! They’re ready to go out and get some running done! The one time I did wear them on a run they felt pretty darn good on my feet. Especially after running in my bulky Lunar Glides for so long. They’re still in really good shape though, so I’ll be rotating the two pairs. Anyway, go figure I’d get hurt right after getting new shoes! Hahah oh well, before too long I’ll be putting some miles on them. 🙂

On a completely unrelated note, Green Day’s new album comes out in exactly one month and I absolutely cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!

They are kicking off their tour September 20th at the Pagent in St. Louis it would be so super awesome to go but it’s on a Tuesday so that’s just not gonna happen. Plus the Pagent is a small club so it’ll probably sell out really fast anyway. Hopefully they’ll make their way back to the St. Louis or Kansas City area next year. They should though, they’ve said they are going to be doing a lot of touring. I just really want to see them live again! That was sooooo much fun!!

Oh man, I was one cool 17 year old. 😉

Anyway, I’m done going on about my toe and fangirling (for now). I hope you the rest of your week goes well!

I have no idea if this will help you with your toenail, but I find that mine just naturally detaches and I just clip it off. It’s a little tender at first, but it feels a lot better after a few days and then I’m good to run. I’ve never had a bloodied toenail before though so I don’t know if it’ll apply to you. Either way, best of luck on your road to recovery!

Thanks for the advice! Haha when I lost my other toenail I actually I just pulled it right off! That was from running though, this ones a little different as it got smashed by a piece of wood. It’s already super loose, but I’m a bit hesitant to pull it off. If it gets annoying enough I just may though lol. 🙂

Ewww! Yeah, you’re going to lose that sucker. You should write your address on it so whoever finds it can ship it back to you. 🙂 I can sympathize, though. There’s not much more painful than smashing a toe. Hope you are back running soon!
