(If you don’t like pictures of feet I suggest you skip past this post. I’ve given you a fair warning)
Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend! And if you don’t get a long weekend I hope you’re having a great day anyway!
I’m not exactly having all that great of a time though. So I said I was going to take a few days off and let my newly returned shin splints rest and heal. So that was a sucky situation, but now I’m in a slightly worse situation. My big toe on my right foot got pretty messed up on Saturday night.
So long story short, my brother in law wanted to get into the attic and Luke was following him up the ladder. My brother in law ended up throwing the attic “door” (it’s really just a piece of plywood) for whatever reason and it bounced off of Luke’s back and landed right on my toe. Hold cow that hurt!!
Despite my best efforts of taking ibuprofen, icing it, and elevating it minutes after it happened, it still bruised and swelled right away. It’s still sow swollen that I can barely move it.
But on the bright side, I can move it. And there is no grinding when I do, so it’s probably not broken which is good. But I still can hardly walk, let alone run, so it’s looking like I’m going to be sidelined longer than I had hoped…but more bright sides, at least my shin will get the rest it needs.
Haha it seems like every time I’m training for something, weird things happen to me. But this was just a super random accident so there’s not much that can be done about it. I’m really really hoping I’ll heal in time to continue half marathon training, but I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.
Hopefully in a few days I’ll have some good news to report.
