Mantras, Mud, and Saturday Stuff

My mantras from today’s run were fun little diddies that went a little something like this; “fuck fuck fuck fuck”, “holy fuck”, and my personal favorite “oh fuck me”. 

Hahaha it is my personal belief that more positive mantras don’t always get the job done. Sometimes you just have to say “fuck it”…literally! πŸ˜‰

It’s not like today’s run was bad or anything though. It was just super slow going thanks to, you guessed it, mud! All the rain we had yesterday washed a shit ton of it onto the trail, so things got slightly hazardous at times. Especially when dealing with the big mud puddles. 

I’m 90% sure mud is more slippery and dangerous than ice!

My socks got completely soaked less than 2 miles into this run.

If those photos don’t explain why my mantra was pretty much any expletive I could think of, I don’t know what will. 

Like I said before, things were super slow going today. A lot of walking happened because I wasn’t about to run through some of that mud. I would have ended up falling and hurting myself. Even walking through it I almost fell several times, but at the very least, all that slipping and sliding made my muscles work in ways they usually don’t have to, and that’s always a good thing! πŸ˜‰

Things got a bit miserable for the last mile and a half-ish. The humidity was at 97% during the whole workout, and near the end the sun had come all the way out and warmed up the pavement. Ewwww. Plus I probably should have taken in some calories at some point. I mean, I had a few sips of Gatorade every 2 miles, but that wasn’t enough and I knew it wouldn’t be. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really need to work on fueling. Haha and maybe eventually I’ll do just that!

Anyway, when we got home Luke and I made banana bread for lunch, since we’re adults and can do things like that. πŸ˜‰ It. Was. Amazing! 

And now we’re hanging out in the backyard with the dogs while dinner cooks. It looks like it may rain again so we may have to bring the party inside soon. 

Anyway, I’m super stoked that tomorrow is a rest day. Doing multiple hard days in a row is killing my legs, but in a really good way I guess. 😁

    Haha, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who often swears a lot while running! Oh, and Mythbusters did an experiment that proved (scientifically!) that swearing reduces pain!
