Friday Fives: Green Day Songs

Green Day’s new single came out yesterday and it’s so totally badass!!! I listened to it a billion times yesterday and I love it!

(I warned you that the fangirling was going to get worse!)

Along with the single, it’s been confirmed that their new album Revolution Radio is coming out October 7th!

I’m obviously super stoked, so for my Friday Fives I thought I’d talk a little bit about 5 of my favorite Green Day songs. You guys have no idea how hard it was to pick just 5. ๐Ÿ˜

1. Bang Bang

Of course the new song had to be on this list! It’s loud, it’s fast, it’s hard core, it’s so totally reminiscent of 90’s punk rock and yet America Idiot that it makes me want to die (but like, in a good way. If that makes any sense).

This song has me so pumped for Revlution Radio, it’s not even funny! I’ve already been saying this for other reasons, but October can’t get here fast enough!!

2. Jesus of Suburbiaย

Jesus of Suburbia is one of Green Day’s all time best songs for sure. It’s 9 minutes and 8 seconds of teenage angst, sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll. If this song doesn’t make you want to run away, join a punk gang, and start a revolution, you’re wrong.

3. Hitchin a Ride

This song is so so so soooo good when they preform it live! Actually, it’s great all the time. It’s loud, it’s fun, the music video is weird, and it’s one of my favorite songs to run to. ๐Ÿ™‚

4. Stuart and the Ave.

My favorite song from my favorite Green Day album. Another great song to run to, in my opinion.

5. Brutal Love

This song came out 4 years ago and I’m still not over it. The first time I heard it I fell in love and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen every live video of it. Billie Joe puts so much emotion into it and it’s just perfect. I really hope I get to see them play this song live one day.

I totally agree!! Hitchin a Ride is very underrated! Actually, I think the whole Nimrod album (aside from the obvious exception of Good Riddance) is underrated. I do love Walking Contradiction, the music video for it is fantastic. Lol like I said, it was hard to pick just 6. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You probably aren’t old enough to remember how badly “Good Riddance” was overplayed around 1998 or so. Believe me, it was way overplayed. I actually liked it the first couple of times I heard it, but not so much after Time No. 4,209.

Lol it’s still super overplayed! It’s been played at every graduation I’ve ever been to. Including both my 8th and high school graduation. It’s been played at every school dance and wedding I’ve been to (including my own wedding, even though I specifically asked the DJ not to do it). I still hear it on the radio a lot. And Green Day plays it at the end of every show (but it’s their song, so I suppose they have the right to). Lol like, we get it, it’s a great song, but they have soooo many better songs!

That’s such a huge pet peeve of mine too!!Like, high school wasn’t the time of my life. I don’t want to pretend it was. Plus, it’s a break up song, so…
