HMT Day 13, Canning, and Gardening

The only thing worse than running on a super hot/humid day, is running on a super hot/humid day that also happens to be trash day. Yuck.

I was really hoping I was going to get rained on, it real looked like it was going to for a while, but nope. At least there was some cloud cover though.

Anyway, today was supposed to be a hill workout so that’s what I did. I did a 10 minute warm up jog, which took me to the big hill in my neighborhood. Then I ran up the hill for 4 minutes, then recovered by going down for 2 minutes. Repeat 2 times, then I walked walked home. It was sticky and miserable, but at least I got it done. 😁👍🏻

Photos just never do this hill justice…

After I showered and a quick trip to Walmart to pick up some canning lids, Luke went on another canning spree.

He made relish, a jar of tomatoes, pickled green tomatoes, a few more jars of pickles, apple jam, and peach jam. The peach jam is the best thing ever! 🍑😁

While the peach jam was simmering we ventured out to the garden to pick more food. We had a good harvest today! Leeks, cucumbers, tomatoes (we’re intentionally picking them early), yellow pear tomatoes, and banana peppers.

Hahaha we also got a new gnome. Everyone meet Jeremy! 😁

Nothing is prettier than fresh produce straight from the garden. 😄

The bunnies definitely appreciate canning days! They get all the peels and scraps and leaves of the fruits and veggies that we’re working with. So I guess they’re a suitable replacement for goats. For now. I really want to be able to keep goats again…Maybe someday though.

So after almost 8 hours, this is what we ended up with. At this rate we should be all set for winter. Luke plans on making lots of chili! 😃

Now that we’re finished with that, we’re going to go Pokemon hunting!

Happy Friday!
