I know haven’t been talking much about running lately, but honestly, lately I haven’t been doing much running.
Two weeks ago I took the whole week off to rest my foot. It was sore and I didn’t want to risk injuring it, so at least that was legit. Plus I did a sufficient amount of strength and cross training, so at least I was still moving.
Last week I was going about things cautiously. My foot felt fine, but I didn’t want to take any chances. I definitely could have run more, probably should have. But ehhh, it was just too hot and I had been focusing on my strength workouts since I hurt my foot. I also did a shit ton of walking. Thanks to Pokemon go, I hit over 90k steps last week! All those steps may not have been from running, but I feel like that has to help me keep me from losing all of my running fitness.
Now this week I’m just being lazy. Monday I didn’t run, or do anything fitness-wise, because the weekend had been a little crazy and I had a bunch of stuff to do. I could have gotten up early to run, but whatever, what’s one day, right?
Monday night I didn’t sleep well but I still could have gotten up early to run on Tuesday. I didn’t, but I did try to run around 8 am. Not the best idea, considering we’re under a heat advisory for most of the week and I’m a bit heat sensitive. I got a mile in before I felt like I was going to die and then called it quits. I did spend a little bit of time on the stationary bike though, that was a good call on my part. I said I was going to do some yoga too, but that never happened.
Today our heat advisory is still going strong. But I honestly did plan on getting up and out early enough to get a decent run in! Obviously that didn’t happen though. At 5 am when my alarm went off, I shut it off and promptly went back to sleep until 7, which is when I usually wake up. Times like these make me wish I had access to a treadmill, then at least it wouldn’t matter what time I got up…
Part of my problem is that I’m just not going to bed early enough. Usually Luke and I are in bed by 10 pm and asleep by 10:30, but lately we’ve been going to bed half an hour later, and I feel like a 5:00 alarm would feel a lot better if I had gone to sleep around 9:30 or 10 instead of 11. Actually, I know it would, but Luke doesn’t like it when I go to bed earlier than him. I guess because the evening is the only time during the week that we get to actually spend together.
At the end of the day I guess none of this running at specific times really matters though. Hopefully soon I’ll have a job (after 4 years I’m getting back into the world of retail. Fun.), and then I’m going to have to figure out how to make it work however I can. I guess I’ve gotten kinda spoiled over these last 4 years of being able to do whatever I want, whenever I want. But I’ll cross those bridges when I get to them I suppose.
Alrighty then, I’m done with the pity party, I promise! I do have a lot of things to look forward to in the next couple of months and years!
First and foremost; half marathon training starts on Sunday!!! Grant it, i’ll be kicking off my second round of training with a rest day, but still, I’m super stoked for my second half!! And hopefully this will give me some motivation to get out of my slump and start putting in some hard work again. I have a feeling that it will. 🙂
Secondly; We’re planning another road trip!! Well, Luke’s mom is doing all of the planning right now, but next June she wants all of us to take a trip to Yellowstone National Park together. We’ve never been to Wyoming before and National Parks are lots of fun, so that should be an exiting trip! Hopefully everything works out and we’ll all be able to go!
Thirdly; I updated my “about” page! Rewrote some stuff, added some photos and links, go check it out if you’re interested!
And last but not least; we’ve got some pretty big plans coming up in 2-3 ish years! Nothing is 100% sure yet, so I wont go into any details yet, but just know that if everything goes according to plan I’ll be living out my life dream that I’ve had since I was like, 12 years old!
That would be why I’ve got to go back into retail work. The only places for me to work that are within walking distance are all shitty retail places, but hey, I can live with that for a few years. I mean, I worked at a Walgreen’s for 2 years and survived that, at least now I’ll be working towards making some really awesome things happen!
Welp, I guess I’ve procrastinated long enough. I’m going to finish my coffee then do some strength work, since I skipped out on running again.
I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
~ Ashley 🙂
