Weekly Recap: June 6th – 12th, 2016

  • Rest Day

I don’t usually take Monday’s off, but since we spent 4 and 1/2 hours driving home from Oklahoma I figured I wouldn’t get w chance to get a workout in. Especially since we had to get quite a few things done once we got home.

  • 1 hour run
  • Yoga for runners: cool down, followed by headstand practice

On Tuesday I learned two very important lessons;

1. It does in fact feel a lot hotter when running in the sun without a hat. I won’t forget to wear one again. 2. Pouring water on your head actually does cool you down quite a bit. Even if said water isn’t cold.

  • Another day off

It’s hard to get things done when you have family over. I suppose I could have woken up early to run, but we were up late the night before, and that would have been no fun.

  • 4 miles
  • Hip work out

Don’t run in the summer. Seriously, it’s  an awful idea…Obviously I don’t mean it. Kinda. I just had a bad. I couldn’t get into my bedroom since my in-laws were sleeping in there, so I had to wear a black hat. My hydration pack wasn’t working correctly but I didn’t realize it until I was a mile from home, so I had to run a mile back and get my handheld bottle, which I hate. That threw off my rythem and I couldn’t seem to find it again, so I spent the rest of my workout running for 3 minutes then walking for 1 minute. Ugh.

  • Another Rest day

 Ugh, summer running is super frustrating…On the bright side, I saw a fox during this run. That was pretty neat. πŸ˜€

  • Rest Day

Wow I’ve had a lot of these this week. πŸ˜‰

Total weekly mileage: 14.36

Not bad for only running 3 days this week! And considering we’ve had people over during the week. Didn’t get much strength/stretching, but now that we’re back to business as usual I should be good to go on that front as well!

    You are so right….running in the summer SUCKS! I signed up for a race called the Foodie 5k this past Saturday at a local racetrack. I got lured in because they said they would have gourmet food trucks at the end (which beats the usual bananas and bagels I figured). Plus it was cheap and close to my house. It was FRICKIN 85 DEGREES out when the race started! I thought I was gonna die! LOL And both food trucks (yes, only two) had long lines by each so I went straight home. How we live and learn. πŸ™‚
