Today I jumped right back into my training plan! I figured since I was suffering a “Ashleys a clutz” injury and not an overuse injury, I’d be fine to do so. Especially since Saturday’s race went so well.
Unfortunately that meant I had to do long intervals. My favorite (read that in the most sarcastic voice ever). But on the bright side, it was chilly and wet, so that made things a little better.
Today’s workout was supposed to be a 10 minute warm up jog, 6 minutes at threshold pace, 2 minutes at 10k pace, 2 minutes walking, repeat 3 times, cool down. I didn’t feel like keeping track of my pace though, so I just did 6 minutes at a slightly uncomfortable pace, then 2 minutes slightly faster.
That all ended up working out all right. During the last interval my legs felt like lead, but the whole workout wasn’t as slow as I had anticipated it being. So I guess I didn’t lose too much fitness after taking a week off. 😄
Once that was done I changed out of my wet clothes, ate a little snack, drank some green tea, then did Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones DVD. I love/hate this workout! It’s an hour of some pretty intense strength training, and you never stop moving, so it’s a but aerobic too.
I haven’t done it in a while though, and initially after finishing it I felt great! But I was pretty tired all day, and now this evening I’m already starting to feel sore (I’m going to do some stretching and foam rolling here in a minute). I’m probably going to regret this tomorrow…but oh well.
I don’t have a run scheduled for tomorrow so I’ll probably put in some time on the stationary bike. Because apparently I’m just in the mood to destroy my legs, I’ll probably end up doing a hill workout. But that’s only if I don’t feel like dying tomorrow.
