Weekly Recap February9 15th-21st

Happy Sunday!!

So, for the first time in a very long time I think I’m going to win this week’s step challenge on Garmin Connect. We don’t “officially” find out who wins until tomorrow, but I’m thinking its pretty safe to assume that I will.

Haha I don’t know what it is about these step challenges that make me so competitive, but they really do! πŸ˜†

Monday:

  • 10 minute warm up on the stationary bike (2.4 miles), 30 minute intervals (1 min run/1 min walk), 5 minute walk to cool down
  • Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred (Day 11)

Monday’s run went super well! Spent a lot of time focusing on form and I was quite pleased about how fast I managed to go during the running intervals. On Monday I also moved up to level 2 of the 30 Day Shred. This level always KILLS me. So. Much. Plank work.

Tuesday:

  • Easy 20 minute run

Wednesday:

The speed work is working!! I’m slowly but surly noticing that my average paces are getting better. Below is last week’s 3 miler compared to this weeks. And I could go back farther than that for comparison, but that would get boring.

Thursday:

  • Playing around on a playground for an hour-ish totally counts as a workout

Friday:

  • Easy 1 mile
  • 10 minutes stretching/foam rolling

Saturday:

  • 4 mile run

It was almost 70 degrees for this run. Eww…I’m already dreading summer. It was a pretty good run though. I got to pet a cat.😊 Haha yes, as a matter of fact, I do judge how well a run went depending on whether or not I got to pet an animal.

Sunday:

  • Rest day

The past 4 days have been ridiculously nice out! We spent a good majority of the weekend outside and it was awesome! We’ve been to the dog park 5 times In the last 4 day. Haha needless to say, the dogs are super happy about that, and so am I.

Workout wise I think this week went really well. I skipped out on a lot of strength but my runs have been really good. For the first time in forever I feel like I’m actually improving! Which is super awesome because I’m thinking I’m going to be signing up for a 5k in May! Yay!! 😁 Haha I wish I could do more races, but jeez they are expensive…but anyways, I hope you’ve have had an awesome week as well!

I have a forerunner 225 and I absolutely love it! It tracks my steps and sleep, as well as my runs which is super spiffy! I used to have a Nike sportwatch (which took FOREVER to connect to satellites) to track my runs, and a garmin vivosmart to track steps and sleep. So I really like only needing one device to track all of those things instead of needing two different ones. πŸ™‚

Awesome!! I was originally leaning towards the Polar V800. But the more I read, I realized I had to buy an extra device to attach to my shoes to count my steps or if I ran on a treadmill. I think I am going to look into a Garmin. I want one that can track cycling and swimming as well but we will see. Thanks for the great advice!!

I’m not entirely sure, but I think the fenix watches also track cycling and swimming. Haha maybe it’s not the fenix, but I know for sure one of Garmin’s watched does track all of that. But yeah, Garmin’s watches all seem to be pretty awesome! I’ve had some problems with the garmin connect app, but I think they’ve finally gotten all the problems with that under control. No problem!! πŸ˜„

Looking at the prices, I might just go with a running watch for now. Would you recommend the Forerunner 225 or a newer model?

Thank you!! Haha honestly I don’t have much of a routine…I just kinda do it when I feel like it (and sometimes I make my husband yell at me until I do it πŸ˜‚). I feel like I actually should be doing a little bit more stretching, especially right after I run.

Okay, I’ll bite. How on earth do you wind up petting a cat during your run? A dog, I could see, because you see them on the trails or roads being walked. But a cat? Is there a whole extra story behind this?

Haha it’s not all that exciting. The trail I was running on goes by a couple of apartment complexes and as I was running by one I saw a cat, and I can only assume he belonged to someone that lived in one of the near by apartments. Usually they just run away, but this one wasn’t afraid of me at all, so I stopped and he came right up to me and let me pet him.😬
