Weekly Recap January 11th-17th 2016

  • 10 minute warm up on the stationary bike, 1 easy mile, 5 hill repeats, a few minutes of easy running, and a 10 minute cool down on the stationary bike
  • 10 minutes of stretching/foam rolling in the evening

Still wasn’t feeling 100% on Monday, so I skipped strength training (I know, I know, I said I was going to stop skipping out on strength, but I feel like I actually had a legit reason). I haven’t done hill repeats in a while so this workout was KILLER! But also a lot of fun.

So, remember how I said I need to eat more veggies and less sugar? I had cookies for breakfast on Monday…but I had a big veggie stir fry with rice for lunch. It all balances out, right? πŸ˜‰

Yay! I got my strength training in! And aside from a late night brownie, I ate pretty well on Tuesday! πŸ™‚

I was feeling pretty slow on this run, but I guess I didn’t realize how tired/sore I was until I did the 30DS. It’s all good though, it was supposed to be a slow run anyways.

  • Tara Stiles Strala Relax 1 hour yoga video

I Skipped running and 30 DS on Thursday. I was super sore/tired so I took an Epsom salt bath and did yoga instead.

Dean likes to do yoga with me. And by that I mean sit on my mat and get in my way.

  • Easy 20 minutes
  • 10 minutes of stretching/foam rolling in the evening

So tired…I feel like the combination of getting over a cold and my body re-adjusting to strength training is wearing me down. Throw PMS into the mix and you have one fun combination…NOT! So, I skipped the 30 DS (at this rate it’s going to take FOREVER for me to finish). But on Saturday I plan on doing a “long” run and I don’t want to be sore or overly tired for it.

  • 30 minutes running, 30 minutes running/walking on my favorite trail

  • Rest Day
  • 10 minutes stretching/foam rolling in the evening

So, this ended up being a kind of negative post. I’m going to try to stay upbeat most of the time on this blog, but sometimes training and whatnot just plain sucks, and I don’t want to lie and say that its all fun and runner’s highs and PR’s all of the time. Because its really not.

It seemed like you were pretty hard on yourself for not getting any strength training in… But in the end, I think I would feel crappier not doing any training! Great job on still getting your runs in, despite feeling worn out!
